Along with the development of technology, Short Message Service (SMS) has begun to be used to communicate between someone and the system in an agency. But in some cases, the security of messages sent through the SMS application has not been well protected. To improve data security and confidentiality, cryptographic algorithms with Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) can be done. The method used is the Waterfall method. AES encryption testing is done by comparing the manual calculations and the results of the encryption on the system. Blackbox test, CrackStation test, and Avalanche Effect (AE) test were also carried out. Brute force test results using CrackStation software that ciphertext cannot be solved. And in the avalanche effect (AE) test, the AE value of each 128-bit AES key is 44.53%, 192-bit is 48.44%, and 256-bit is 56.25%. Therefore, 192-bit and 256-bit AES keys are recommended for use because AE values are in the range of 45% - 60%.

Short Message Service (SMS) is working on a wireless network that allows the theft of the message contents. There are risks that could threaten the security of the contents of the message on SMS services, including SMS snooping, and SMS interception. Therefore, it takes security system messages on SMS services to maintain the security and integrity of the message content to cover the security messages. Algorithms Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) using a structure SPN (Substitution Permutation Network) structure, which has the disadvantage of encryption and decryption, so the safety level is low. To cover the security hole of these weaknesses, the researchers conducted the improvement of Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm security system based on android SMS using Vigenere algorithm, so that the level of security and integrity of the content of the short message becomes higher and difficult to solve. The results showed an average increase in percentage value of the avalanche effect from 37.24% to 42.96%. Keywords—Advanced Encryption Standard, android, message security, encryption.

Abstract - At the moment, people who use electricity as their daily necessities still use the methods that have been in the past, namely by purchasing an electric voucher that has been available several digits of code entered into the prepaid kWh meter via the keypad. This method is considered to be less effective and less efficient in a period that has experienced a lot of progress, especially in the field of technology. Especially when the electric pulse has reached the minimum limit of the prepaid kWh meter, it only gives a warning to the sound of the buzzer alarm, it can only be heard by the customer if he is inside the house. so that the customer cannot find out if the customer is out of the house. Automatically the kWh meter customer is not prepared to deal with it if the user is not at home. So from that the research that will be made is a prototype prepaid kWh meter based on Short Message Service (SMS). In addition to being able to control the remaining electricity pulses remotely, this tool will also be able to charge electric pulses without having to enter the voucher code into the kWh meter directly but with this tool the customer can fill in by sending a short message or SMS set by the customer. The system contained in this Short Message Service (SMS) prepaid kWh meter prototype is controlled by 16 ATM AVR Microcontrollers. When the prepaid kWh meter value shows a value of 5 kWh, the system automatically provides information on the remaining kWh meter electricity through short message or SMS and marked with the buzzer sound and LED indicator. That will be made is considered to be more effective and flexible. From the results of the research data that have been collected, it can be seen that the performance of SMS-based prepaid kWh meters with the overall test results is successful and the percentage of success almost reaches 100%. Data is the essential thing in the world of communication. Text messaging is a way of communicating that is sent in digital form. This message is very widely used in electronic media such as short message service. This message was sent through the service provider. Messages sent are unsafe and can be intercepted at the time of submission. Message delivery needs to apply cryptographic algorithms to text messages sent using encryption and decryption techniques. Super Playfair cipher and two square cipher algorithms are a development of Playfair cipher method. This method is a quite complicated way of solving it than other classical methods. These methods belong to classical cryptographic algorithms that use substitution encoding techniques and character transitions that use a symmetric key in the process of encryption and decryption.

The number of crimes that arise due to data does not have good security makes many users choose one or more cryptographic algorithms to secure data. The application of cryptographic algorithms is widely used such as to secure text data, secure messages on short message service (SMS), secure messages on chat applications, secure records on the database. Many modifications were made to obtain safer algorithms and in this study Playfair cipher which is a classical cryptographic algorithm modified by changing the key consisting of 25 characters to 255 characters and the key used to encode resulting from randomization using a linear congruent method. The result obtained is that the encoded text is hard to know and the key used is random, making it difficult to solve by cryptanalyst.

The security and confidentiality of Short Message Service (SMS) is very important for senders and recipients of messages. Generally, SMS is displayed in plain text form which can make it easy for the cryptanalyst to skipjack the message to be distributed. SMS security can be done by encrypting it based on one of the cryptographic algorithms in order to maintain the authenticity and security of messages and can make it difficult for others to know the original meaning of the SMS. Skipjack algorithm is one of cryptography algorithm that can be used for SMS encoding. The Skipjack algorithm is an electronic 64-bit codebook algorithm that converts 64-bit blocks into 64-bit blocks of output. The parameter used for encryption is 80-bit key and has 32 rounds of the encryption process and description. This study describes how SMS text encoding based on skipjack algorithm with the purpose of distributed SMS can be guaranteed to be safe and avoid misuse.

The increasing activity of someone outside the home causes difficulties in controlling the lamps and monitoring the condition of the house from a distance, therefore it is necessary to control the lamps remotely. This research designed and built a lamps handling by short message service (SMS) based on arduino uno. Lamps handling by sms is a tool which act as the lamp and alarm switches at house, whenever without time limits as far as the GSM signal is still can be reached. Handling tool from distance by mobile sms act as an order producer, arduino uno as a microcontroller, sensor peer as a movement detector, gsm modul sim 900A as an information sender and acceptor and relay as a switcher of lamps or the alarms. The test results of this tool show that this too can be used based on the order which is given from distance to control the lamps and the alarms. Another function of this tool is to monitor the lamps condition by “cek” function to know in which lamp is on or off mode. It also can switch on an alarm and send some sms to the owner’s contact number when its sensor detected any object movements.

As a convenient, fast, reliable and economic value-added service, CDMA Short Message Service (SMS) becomes more and more popular in our daily work and lives. In this paper, the software package for sending and receiving short messages is realized, and it has simple interfaces and perfect functions. Based on WINCE 6.0, the USB port of Samsung S3C6410 is used as a virtual serial to realize the transmission of AT commands, and a specific realization of the processes and debugging results are given. The actual test results show that the software package can work stably. It can be used in the devices that support the WINCE 6.0.

Perkembangan yang sangat pesat terjadi pada bidang teknologi informasi dan telekomunikasi saat ini mendorong masyarakta dunia memasuki era revolusi industri 4.0 yang serba cepat, sekaligus menjadikan informasi sentral dalam dunia industri maupun dunia usaha hingga dunia pendidikan. Akademi Teknik dan Keselamatan Penerbangan (ATKP) Medan merupakan institusi pendidikan di bawah naungan pemerintah yang sudah mulai menggunakan berbagai hal teknologi informasi dan telekomunikasi. Dengan adanya perkembangan tersebut berdampak memeberikan fasilitas yang dapat digunakan oleh pengguna layanan komunikasi, dan informasi, seperti Short Message Service (SMS) hingga sistem berbasis aplikasi menggunakan smartphone android maupun iOS. Layanan aplikasi sms hingga sistem aplikasi tersebut adalah teknologi yang memungkinkan manusia untuk mendapatkan atau mengirimkankan informasi kapanpun dan dimanapun dibutuhkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat sistem aplikasi monitoring evaluasi pelaporan kegiatan taruna di ATKP medan berbasis web app. Dalam pembuatannya, aplikasi ini disesuaikan dengan kenutuhan user/orang tua taruna dan institusi ATKP secara umum. Sistem aplikasi ini akan memberikan kemudahan kepada orang tua taruna dalam memonitoring, kegiatan hingga prilaku taruna selama pendidikan di ATKP Medan serta  kemudahan mengakses nilai dengan cepat. Sistem aplikasi ini dibuat dengan menggunakan bahasa pemrograman php (web).
