Safety measures in stone quarries are investigated through a questionnaire for safety requirements and the degree of compliance distributed to managers and workers of selected quarries in northern Jordan. Responses showed that while health and technical safety measures are applied in most quarries, safety awareness measures are unimplemented in all surveyed quarries despite the claim by quarry managers and workers that awareness programs do exist. Preliminary results indicate a correlation between the level of education and experience of both quarries managers and workers and the frequency and severity of work accidents.

Substandard behavior and sub-standard conditions are both a direct cause of accidents and a major cause of mismanagement. At PT. Glow which is engaged in the field of covection, there is no real / clear K3 management system so that there are still workers who do not know about K3 safe behavior. This study uses the Antecedent Behavior Consequences method which aims to obtain an overview of the factors that influence K3 behavior using approaches, observations or data at once (point time approach) in the sewing section of PT. Light. The results of the bivariate research showed that there was no relationship between knowledge and K3 behavior (p value 0.208), there was a relationship between perception and K3 behavior (p value 0.005), there was no relationship between attitude and K3 behavior (p value (0.116), there was no relationship Between the level of education and K3 behavior (p value 0.245). It can be concluded that from the empathy variable studied about OSH behavior, only perceptions have a relationship or there is a difference in behavior with K3 behavior in the sewing section of PT.Glow. Should increase attention related to safety aspects. work so that work accidents continue in the years to come.

Purpose: The article aims to study the photobiological safety of ultraviolet radiation of UV lamps in agriculture. Design/methodology/approach: The research and analysis of the lighting characteristics of samples of LUF 80 and LE 30 lamps, which are the most widely used in the agrarian complex. Findings: Experimental studies have shown that the photobiological safety of LUF 80 lamps belongs to the low-risk group RG1, while LE 30 lamps show high risk and are thus assigned to group RG3. Research limitations/implications: It is advisable to continue studying the characteristics of lamps and lamp systems for various fields of agriculture on the market in Ukraine to assess their compliance with safety requirements. Practical implications: The application of the proposed approach allows increasing the level of labor safety in commercial greenhouses or any other industry by choosing the suitable lamps for agriculture that at present are not regulated by additional safety measures. Originality/value: The originality of the article is showing the results of the experimental data of the studies of light-technical characteristics of ultraviolet lamps for agriculture.

The article presents results of the granulometric composition of chip particles when sanding wood (beech) and wood-based materials (particleboard and semi-hardboard) using different types of sanders – wide belt sander, narrow belt sander, and hand sander. On the basis of the carried out sieve analyses, the proportion of produced particles, which can be marked as dust with the particle size of ≤ 80 μm, is high at the interval from 89.21% - 96.29 %. The highest percentage of dust particles was reached at dust from the hand disk sander. At the end of the article we point to possible technical safety measures – additional dust exhausting, suction, to possibly reduce the dust getting to the working environment.

Based on the information provided by the operators, IRSN experts select and analyze different deviations presenting a possible generic nature which could affect the safety of power plants. Some of these deviations result in non-compliance (NC) with the safety requirements. To maintain an acceptable level of safety, an operator has to implement corrective measures for any situation of non-compliance with safety requirements. IRSN, the Technical Support Organization of the French Nuclear Authority, analyzes the different deviations to assess the impacts on the concerned NPPs safety. Based on the impact on safety, measures should be applied immediately or during the next outages, on a reactor or on several of them. The permanent corrective measures schedule is defined taking into account the “NC” safety impact. However, for some of the “NCs”, it can be difficult to define and implement swift permanent corrective measures, especially when the lack of compliance affects several similar units and requires a design change. This paper explains the French approach of deviations treatment and specifically the relationship between the Nuclear Safety Authority, the Technical Support Organization, IRSN and the Licensee, EDF during an outage.

AbstractBackground:Awareness programs are highly recommended to educate smokers and help them to quit. The aim of this study is to evaluate dental professionals' awareness and utilisation of the 5As in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. Material andMethods:A survey was conducted in Saudi Arabia on 102 dental care providers (DCPs) in 2010 to assess awareness of 5As. Many factors were included in the survey such as demographic characteristics, working place, years of experiences, level of education and country of graduation. Results:Only 23 (22.5%) of our sample know about the 5As (Ask, Advise, Assess, Assist and Arrange), and less than 7% of DCPs assist their patients to quit smoking. In addition, 19 (18.6%) of DCPs were smokers, and of them 6 (31.6%) smoked in front of their patients. Conclusion:Most of the dental practitioners were not aware of the 5As for smoking cessation. Most of them they did not pay attention to the willingness of their patients to quit smoking.
