Magneto-hydrodynamic free convective heat and mass transfer of a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting and chemically-reacting fluid adjacent to a vertical stretching sheet embedded in a saturated porous medium in the presence of a thermal radiation effect are investigated. The sheet is linearly stretched with uniform constant of temperature and concentration. The governing partial differential equations are transferred into a system of ordinary differential equations, which are solved numerically using a fourth order Runge-Kutta scheme with the shooting method. The effects of various parameters entering into the problem have been examined on the velocity and temperature profiles as well as the skin-friction coefficient, and Nusselt and Sherwood numbers are presented graphically and in tabular form.

This study presents a mathematical analysis of a hydromagnetic boundary layer flow, heat and mass transfer characteristics on steady twodimensional flow of a micropolar fluid over a stretching sheet embedded in a non-Darcian porous medium with uniform magnetic field in the presence of thermal radiation. The governing system of partial differential equations is first transformed into a system of non- linear ordinary differential equation using the usual similarity transformation. The resulting coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations are then solved using perturbation technique. With the help of graphs, the effects of the various important parameters entering into the problem on the velocity, temperature and concentration fields within the boundary layer are separately discussed. The effects of the pertinent parameters on the wall temperature, wall solutal concentration, skin friction coefficient and the rate of heat and mass transfer are presented numerically in tabular form. The results obtained showed that these parameters have significant influence on the flow.

AbstractAn analysis is performed to the study of the momentum, heat and mass transfer of a viscous fluid-saturated porous medium past an impermeable, non-isothermal stretching sheet with internal heat generation or absorption and chemical reaction. The governing partial differential equations are converted into ordinary differential equations by means of a similarity transformation. Exact solutions of velocity components together with the pressure distribution, which can not be found in the boundary layer theory, are obtained analytically; in addition, the temperature and concentration functions are given in terms of confluent hypergeometric functions. The velocity, temperature (concentration) profiles and thermal characteristics at the sheet for relevant parameters are plotted, tabulated and discussed.

This work studies the effects of homogeneous chemical reaction and thermal radiation on coupled heat and mass transfer by free convection from a surface embedded in a fluid-saturated porous medium. Two different cases of thermal and solutal boundary conditions, namely the prescribed surface temperature and concentration (PSTC) case and the prescribed heat and mass fluxes (PHMF) case are considered. The governing boundary-layer equations are formulated and transformed into a set of non-similar equations. The resulting equations are solved numerically by an accurate and efficient implicit finite-difference method. The obtained results compared with previously published work and found to be in excellent agreement. A representative set of results is displayed graphically to illustrate the influence of the radiation parameter, chemical reaction parameter and the permeability of the porous medium on the velocity, temperature and concentration fields as well as the local skin-friction coefficient, local Nusselt number and the local Sherwood number.

Mixed convection heat and mass transfer along a vertical plate embedded in a power-law fluid saturated Darcy porous medium with Soret and Dufour effects is studied. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations using similarity transformations and then solved numerically using shooting method. The effect of Soret and Dufour parameters, power law index and mixed convection parameter on non-dimensional velocity, temperature and concentration fields are discussed. The variation of different parameters on heat and mass transfer rates is presented in tabular form.

In this paper the drying process of ginkgo biloba is discussed. The process combined effect of convective Heat and mass transfer on hydromagnetic electrically conducting viscous, how to improve the ability of drying is an important problem. The heat transmission for drying process is discussed. The parameter of drying process is determined. The ginkgo biloba drying machine is developed and the key part of drying machine is designed. The whole drying machine is developed, which can enhance the ability of medical industry. The study can help the Optimization of drying process and the level of the ginkgo biloba drying.

The present paper investigates the combined effects of Soret and Dufour on free convective heat and mass transfer on the unsteady one-dimensional boundary layer flow over a vertical channel in the presence of viscous dissipation and constant suction. The governing partial differential equations are solved numerically using the implicit Crank-Nicolson method. The velocity, temperature, and concentration distributions are discussed numerically and presented through graphs. Numerical values of the skin-friction coefficient, Nusselt number, and Sherwood number at the plate are discussed numerically for various values of physical parameters and are presented through tables. It has been observed that the velocity and temperature increase with the increase in the viscous dissipation parameter and Dufour number, while an increase in Soret number causes a reduction in temperature and a rise in the velocity and concentration.
