AbstractConstruction of a sewer system on a flat area is characterized by a large number of pumping stations (PS), which implies the probability of occurrence of technical problems and increases operational costs. The article focuses on drainage methods for municipalities situated on a flat area where it is necessary to build up a large number of pumping stations. Problems occur in case of multiple serial, parallel or combined connections of PSs. Energy costs can outweigh other costs, especially if the PS runs more than 2000 hours per year (Wilson et al., 2010). It has been shown that there is a large technical and economic potential for energy savings in sewage pumping. The pumping of waste waters in Slovakia is mostly based on the START-STOP method. This means that the pumps operate at all times at full power. In practice, we can also meet with oversizing of pumps. These and other facts lead to increased power consumption.Also rainwater infiltration and “black” stormwater connections belong to significant present problems in sewer system operation. Large amounts of storm water in a sewerage PS lead to increasing intensity of wastewater pumping, which is reflected in increasing operational costs.Optimization of such sewer system is based on mathematical modelling and was implemented in the “Ivanka pri Dunaji” municipality, close to Bratislava - the capital of Slovakia where the above mentioned problems in wastewater discharge cause considerable operating costs and inefficient performance of the system as a whole for a long time. Due to the enormous houses development, the system is inadequately loaded by rain waters as well. Also poor discipline of property owners contributes to the inauspicious situation to a great extent. Despite a ban of connections, paved areas are drained into the sewage system very often. The identification of such connections is very problematic with regard to ownership rights. Rain waters in sewages can degrade the quality of wastewaters, increase operating costs of pumping and reduce system life cycle. It was demonstrated by mathematical modelling that with the use of information technologies, it is possible to make the existing sewerage systems more effective or propose a new system of pumping and discharging waste waters.

Flats are one of the government's solution to provide decent housing for low-income people. However, as mostly flats overlook energy efficiency aspects, residents must pay high rental and operational costs. Therefore, this paper aims to study the principles of green buildings, especially in the building envelope that can bear the operating costs of flats with the case study on the A-B-C Tower of Tambora Flats. The A-B-C Tower of Tambora Flats is one of the flats building in Jakarta that has rental cost issues. This study employed the EDGE application that provided energy saving values in the application of green building principles, such as building mass and orientation, wall and roof finishing materials, natural shading and ventilation elements. From these values, it was only the application of green building principles that was significant for the Tambora flats. The results of this study revealed that the optimization of natural ventilation for flats was still important and having a significant impact on energy savings

At the Institute of Land Reclamation, Hydrology and Sanitary Engineering of the University at Rostock the pressure and flow ratios are examined within a measuring section in the pressure dewatering system on the Darfl peninsula. The objective of the research project is the knowledge upgrade about the highly unsteady hydraulic conditions in a pressure sewer system. This paper firstly presents the method and the dimensioning of pressure dewatering systems, which can be done using either the peak effluent method or the statistical method; the examination program will be explained. The examination includes pressure difference measuring with two pressure meters and flow data measuring via magnetic-inductive flow meters. Additionally the pump running times of 15 pumping stations, as well as the compressor action of the pressure pipe rinsing station are continuously and temporarily recorded and saved. Finally the measuring results which provide initial information about the pressure and flow conditions in a pressure dewatering system will be presented. The effects of the rinsing, the low pressure differences, the air cushions, the seasonal differences as well as the daily development graphs of the wastewater production are all clearly visible.

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of production costs and operating costs on net income in the consumer goods industry sector for the 2015-2019 period. The sample selection uses a sampling technique. In order to obtain a sample of 15 companies and a total of 75 data. The regression analysis analysis method used is multiple linear regression analysis through classical assumption tests and hypothesis testing. Based on the results of this study indicate that partially production costs have an effect on net income and other research results partially operational costs have a significant effect on net income. The use of physical paper in the business world today has become a consideration as a waste that can affect the company's financial cycle. The saving of using documents without using physical paper is one way to reduce the company's operating costs, especially for companies that have offices and also some factories in running their businesses. The operational process of non-physical documents is supported by the use of barcodes so that the use of paper is very minimal and management can reduce the company's operational costs to the maximum. This study aims to make observations and analysis of barcode usage related to the effectiveness and efficiency in terms of employee performance and especially financial savings. The results of the study show that in terms of operational expenses of the company that there are benefits of cost savings on physical paper purchases and also employee performance is quite significantly increased in carrying out daily operations because entering data can be done semi-automatically.

This paper presents the results recorded by upgrading and rehabilitating the pumping stations for an urban water network with a primary goal of diminishing the operation and maintenance costs and a secondary goal of reducing the water losses in the water distribution network. The adopted technical solutions within the structural and functional modifications of the pumping stations have led to both the improvement of hydraulic parameters of the pumping stations and also the improvement of registered energy consumption. The undertaken modifications and transformations within the pumping stations led to significant energy savings and at the same time to important water losses reductions within the distribution network.

In today’s business world, most companies operate within an integrated system, or a network of organizations of upstream suppliers and downstream customers that produce and distribute products and services. It is estimated that about 60% to 70% of today’s transactions in any company are completed in the supply chain (Bovel & Martha, 2000). E-partnership in the supply chain is, therefore, the focus of this chapter. This author argues that e-partnership provides a powerful and transformative means for supply chain management to achieve its objectives through extended relationships and enhanced information technologies. The rationale for the argument is that an e-partnering supply chain can lead to greater business opportunities, better integration of suppliers and vendors, better management information, lower operational costs, better market understanding and expanded geographical coverage. Therefore, a partnership approach to the supply chain provides significant opportunities to maximize bottom line results. Helping to better understand the broader operational context of e-partnerships, this chapter explores the recent development of the supply chain, specifically, electronic and e-business supply chain and its interfaces with e-partnerships. The chapter presents a broader comprehensive view of the landscape in which e-partnership prevails and the role it plays in the e-business arena.

SiO<sub>2</sub> deposits which cause technical problems on combustion equipment are built by combustion of biogas containing siloxanes. Therefore, in these cases, the siloxanes must be removed from the biogas. For siloxane removal from biogas, its adsorption on activated carbon is often used. After saturation, the saturated adsorbent must be replaced. The adsorbent cost constitutes the main part of the operational costs of the purification equipment. Therefore it is necessary to find an adsorbent having high adsorption capacity for siloxane at a possible low price. Using laboratory apparatus and biogas produced from waste-water treatment sludge at the wastewater treatment plant Prague Bubenec various activated carbons were tested for siloxane removal and their adsorption capacities for siloxanes were estimated, and the adsorbent cost relative to 1 kg of siloxanes removed from biogas were calculated. The lowest price for the removal of 1 kg of siloxanes was determined by Chezacarb, Sil Extra 40 AP and 4–60 adsorbents. Another important information obtained from the test is that the weakly adsorbed siloxane (OMCTS) is displaced by the larger molecule of DMCPCS during adsorption.

Green lighting technology has the advantages of energy efficiency, friendly environment, safety and comfort. Based on the introduction of green lighting technology, taken the Mt. Lushan West Sea tourist highway service as the case study, we analyzed light guide illumination, the optimum use of natural light and energy efficient lighting respectively from the aspects of technical characteristics and the specific highway service application. We finally made the economic analysis in the energy savings of green lights in the highway service, and the result showed that through the use of green lighting systems Mt. Lushan West Sea tourist highway service could save electricity and reduce operating costs 134,700 Yuan per year.
