This study report the first record of Allamanda blanchetii Kunth in the Atlantic Forest, Brazil. This species was collected from an upland forest in Semi-deciduous Seasonal Forest. This occurrence adds new information about the distribution of this species and expands its range to Brazil, which is important for its conservation. We provide taxonomic information, distribution maps, conservation status assessment, photograps, and an identification key for the Allamanda L. species in the Atlantic Forest.

Here we report the encounter of an albino lowland tapir in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. On November 23rd 2020, a female albino calf was found within the buffer zone of Jurupará State Park, in the city of Piedade, São Paulo State, Brazil. The orphaned female tapir was rescued and brought to Parque Zoológico Municipal Quinzinho de Barros. Albino tapirs have been reported in another forest, Legado das Águas Reserve, about 20 km from this calf was rescued. Thus, this new record of albino tapir highlights the importance of preserving and maintaining connectivity among the conservation units in that region.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar novo registro de ocorrência para Ischnocodia annulus (Fabricius), além de fornecer informações sobre plantas hospedeiras e período de ocorrência da espécie. Os besouros foram observados em um fragmento florestal no Oeste do Paraná; trata-se do primeiro registro da espécie para a região Sul do Brasil e para a Mata Atlântica brasileira. Foram notificadas duas novas plantas hospedeiras para a espécie: Cordia trichotoma Vell. Arráb. ex Steud  e Cordia eucalyculata Vell. (Boraginaceae). Os imaturos emergiram na segunda quinzena de setembro e os últimos adultos foram observados no início de dezembro. A emergência dos imaturos ocorre na mesma época que plântulas de C. trichotoma germinam em grande quantidade.Ischnocodia annulus (Fabricius) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Cassidinae): First Record for Brazilian Atlantic Forest, New Host Plants and Considerations about Period of Occurrence Abstract. The objective of this study was making new record of Ischnocodia annulus (Fabricius) and provides information about host plants period of occurrence. The beetles were observed in a forest fragment in Paraná western and this is the first record of I. annulus for the southern region of Brazil and for the brazilian Atlantic Forest. Two new host plants were notified: Cordia trichotoma Vell. Arráb. ex Steud and Cordia eucalyculata Vell. (Boraginaceae). The immatures emerged in the second half of September and the last adults were observed in early December. The emergence of immature occurs at the same time that C. trichotoma seedlings germinate aplenty.

Titanogryllus, a new genus and three new species T. salgado n. gen. n. sp., T. oxossi n. gen. n. sp., and T. oxente n. gen. n. sp. from subfamily Gryllinae (Grylloidea, Gryllidae) are described from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. This genus is characterized by its very large size, and establishes a new record for the largest known cricket from Neotropical Region. The new taxa are characterized by their external morphology and male and female genitalia.

Composed of two main forest formations, Ombrophilous Forest and Seasonal Forest, the Brazilian Atlantic Forest biome is constituted currently by a mosaic of forest remnants and secondary vegetation. Representatives of the Ponerinae ant genus Neoponera are observed mainly in both wet and seasonally dry forests. The aim of this study was to approach the diversity of the genus Neoponera in the north of the Atlantic Forest of Brazil (from the extreme north of its distribution to the Doce River hydrographic basin in the south), associating the occurrence of ant species with the types of vegetation. We have compiled occurrence data from the collection of the Myrmecology Laboratory of the Cocoa Research Center, on internet, or available in literature. We found information on 23 species of Neoponera, including a new record for the Atlantic Forest, Neoponera globularia (Mackay & Mackay, 2010), and a new record for Brazil, Neoponera fiebrigi Forel, 1912. The relative composition of the Neoponera assemblages was evaluated according to the types of vegetation. We found that the occurrence of the genus Neoponera is mainly related to the types of vegetation of the focus region, principally dense forests where a higher diversity was observed.

Gloydius strauchi is a venomous pit viper, which is known from Sichuan, Eastern Xizang, Qinghai, Ningxia, and Shaanxi provinces. Here I report a new, genetically verified record of G. strauchi from a high-altitude area of Dêgê County, Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, and provide information on a mild envenomation case of that species’ bite.

Three new species of Otostigmus Porat, 1876 from Brazilian Atlantic Forest are described. Otostigmus beckeri sp. n. andO. lanceolatus sp. n. are described from the state of Bahia and O. giupponii sp. n. from the state of Espírito Santo. InBrazil, the otostigmine scolopendrid genus Otostigmus comprises 22 species. A summary of Brazilian Otostigmus speciesis presented with new distribution records, taxonomic remarks when appropriate and an identification key. Otostigmus sul-catus Meinert, 1886 is recorded for the first time from Brazil; the Andean Otostigmus silvestrii Kraepelin 1903, previouslyrecorded from Brazil, is here considered not to be present in this country. Eight nominal species are regarded here as newsynonyms. Five of them—Otostigmus pradoi Bücherl, 1939, O. longistigma Bücherl, 1939, O. longipes Bücherl, 1939,O. langei Bücherl, 1946 and O. dentifusus Bücherl, 1946—are based on females of O. tibialis Brölemann, 1902. O. latipesBücherl, 1954 is conspecific with and is considered a junior synonym of O. sulcatus Meinert, 1886; O. limbatus diminutusBücherl, 1946 is a junior synonym of O. limbatus Meinert, 1886 and O. fossulatus Attems, 1928 is a junior synonym of O. goeldii Brölemann, 1898. A lectotype is designated for O. goeldii.

Jurasaidae are a family of neotenic elateroid beetles which was described recently from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest biodiversity hotspot based on three species in two genera. All life stages live in the soil, including the larviform females, and only adult males are able to fly. Here, we report the discovery of two new species, Jurasai miraculum sp. nov. and J. vanini sp. nov., and a new, morphologically remarkable population of J. digitusdei Rosa et al., 2020. Our discovery sheds further light on the diversity and biogeography of the group. Most species of Jurasaidae are known from the rainforest remnants of the Atlantic Forest, but here for the first time we report a jurasaid species from the relatively drier Atlantic Forest/Caatinga transitional zone. Considering our recent findings, minute body size and cryptic lifestyle of all jurasaids, together with potentially high numbers of yet undescribed species of this family from the Atlantic Forest and possibly also other surrounding ecoregions, we call for both field research in potentially suitable localities as well as for a detailed investigation of a massive amount of already collected but still unprocessed materials deposited in a number of Brazilian institutes, laboratories and collections.
