The paper deals with 2015 trends and challenges for social and economic policy in the nearest future. The analysis of global crisis includes: uneven developments in the leading advanced and emerging economies; new models of economic growth which look differently in different countries; prospects of globalization and challenges of ‘regional globalization’; currency configurations of the future; energy prices dynamics and its influence on political and economic prospects of particular states. Current challenges are discussed in the context of previous 30 years. Among the main topics on Russia, there are approaches to a new growth model, structural transformation (including import substitution issues), economic dynamics, budget and monetary outlines, social issues. The priorities of economic policy are also considered.

In the wake of the 2008 global financial and economic crisis, new forms of work organization emerged in Europe. Following this trend, Portugal has undergone a reconfiguration of its artistic organizations. In the performing arts, some organiza-tions seem to have crystalized and others are reinventing their artistic mission. They follow a plurality of organizational patterns and resilient profiles framed by cyclical, structural and occupational changes. Artistic organizations have had to adopt new models of work and seek new opportunities to try out alternatives in order to deal, namely, with the constraints of the labour market. The article anal-yses some of the restructuring processes taking place in three Portuguese artistic organizations, focusing on their contexts, individual trajectories and collective missions for adapting to contemporary challenges of work in the arts. We conclude that organizations are a key domain for understanding the changes taking place.

AbstractWhen confronted by severe geometric constraints, dislocations may respond in unforeseen ways. One example of such unexpected behavior is parallel glide in unpassivated, ultrathin (200 nm and thinner) metal films. This involves the glide of dislocations parallel to and very near the film/substrate interface, following their emission from grain boundaries. In situ transmission electron microscopy reveals that this mechanism dominates the thermomechanical behavior of ultrathin, unpassivated copper films. However, according to Schmid's law, the biaxial film stress that evolves during thermal cycling does not generate a resolved shear stress parallel to the film/substrate interface and therefore should not drive such motion. Instead, it is proposed that the observed dislocations are generated as a result of atomic diffusion into the grain boundaries. This provides experimental support for the constrained diffusional creep model of Gao et al.[1], in which they described the diffusional exchange of atoms between the unpassivated film surface and grain boundaries at high temperatures, a process that can locally relax the film stress near those boundaries. In the grains where it is observed, parallel glide can account for the plastic strain generated within a film during thermal cycling. One feature of this mechanism at the nanoscale is that, as grain size decreases, eventually a single dislocation suffices to mediate plasticity in an entire grain during thermal cycling. Parallel glide is a new example of the interactions between dislocations and the surface/interface, which are likely to increase in importance during the persistent miniaturization of thin film geometries.

Abstract The article presents new conception of 3D model of human bronchial tubes, which represents bronchial tubes extracted from CT images of the chest. The new algorithm which generates new model is an extension of the algorithm (basic algorithm) proposed by Hiroko Kitaoka, Ryuji Takaki and Bela Suki. The basic model has been extended by geometric deformations of branches and noise which occur in bronchial trees extracted from CT images. The article presents comparison of results obtained with the use of the new algorithm and the basic one. Moreover, the discussion of usefulness of generated new models for testing of algorithms for quantitative analysis of bronchial tubes based on CT images is also included.

This book, consisting of nine chapters, is the result of multiple theoretical and empirical research carried out by students in the post-graduate program in education (PPGE) at Universidade Nove de Julho (UNINOVE). The object of the research was to carry out a study on the new models of higher education, implemented in Brazil between 2005 and 2013. The studies carried out focus, above all, on institutional principles, student access policies, the internationalization process, quota policies, and mechanisms for inclusion in higher education for public school students. These were studies that used, as a theoretical basis, epistemological models of a counter-hegemonic character and, from a methodological point of view, an essentially qualitative approach. The studies showed, generically, the possibility of building other models of higher education capable of overcoming the elitism, characteristic of traditional universities. The inclusion of students from public school reveals that it is possible to make higher education a right for everyone, democratizing it, in the sense of establishing social and cognitive justice.
