The influence of Cu7PS6 nanoparticles with the average size 117 nm on the dielectric properties of planar oriented nematic liquid crystal 6CB has been investigated within the frequency range 101…106 Hz and at the temperature 293 K. It has been shown that when changing the concentration of nanoparticles within the range 0 to 1 wt.%, the conductivity of the liquid crystal changes stronger than its dielectric permittivity. It has been shown that the electrical conductivity increases monotonously with increasing the concentration of nanoparticles. However, for this dependence a saturation effect is observed. The mechanism of this effect was proposed.

We report the effect of the doping of Cd1−xZnxS/ZnS core/shell quantum dots (CSQDs) in nematic liquid crystal p-methoxybenzylidenep-decylaniline (MBDA) at 0.05 wt/wt%, 0.1 wt/wt%, 0.15 wt/wt%, 0.2 wt/wt%, 0.25 wt/wt%, and 0.3 wt/wt% concentrations of CSQDs in MBDA. Dielectric parameters with and without bias with respect to frequency have been investigated. The change in electro-optical parameters with temperature has also been demonstrated. The increase in the mean dielectric permittivity was found due to the large dipole moment of CSQDs, which impose stronger interactions with the liquid crystal molecules. The dielectric anisotropy changes sign on doping CSQDs in MBDA liquid crystal. It was concluded that the CSQD doping noticeably increased the dielectric permittivity of nematic MBDA in the presence of an electric field. The doping of CSQDs in nematic MBDA liquid crystal reduced the ion screening effect effectively. This phenomenon is attributed to the competition between the generated ionic impurities during the assembling process and the ion trapping effect of the CSQDs. The rotational viscosity of nematic liquid crystal decreased with increasing concentration of the CSQDs, with a faster response time observed for the 0.05 wt/wt% concentration. The birefringence of the doped system increased with the inclusion of CSQDs in MBDA. These results find application in the field of display devices, phase shifters, LC – gratings, TIR waveguide, industries, and projectors.

A.C electrical conductivity and dielectric properties for poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) /poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) blends undopedand doped with multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNTs) withdifferent concentrations (1, and 3 wt %) in the frequency range(25x103 - 5x106 Hz) were investigated. Samples of (PVA/PEO)blends undoped and doped with MWCNTs were prepared usingcasting technique. The electrical conductivity measurements showedthat σA.C is frequency dependent and obey the relation σA.C =Aωs forundoped and doped blends with 1% MWCNTs, while it is frequencyindependent with increases of MWCNTs content to 3%. Theexponent s showed proceeding increase with the increase of PEOratio (≥50%) for undoped blends samples, while s value for dopedblends exhibits to change in different manner, i.e. s increases andreach maximum value at 50/50 PVA/PEO, then decreases forresidual doped blends samples with 1% MWCNTs on the other handthe exponent s decrease and reach minimum value at 50/50PVA/PEO for samples doped with 3% MWCNTs, then return toincrease. The results explained in different terms.

Dielectric properties of Eucalyptus urophylla wood were measured by using a network analyzer over an ultrawide frequency range between 0.2 GHz and 20 GHz. The effects of moisture content (MC), temperature and frequency on the dielectric permittivity and the dielectric loss factor of Eucalyptus urophylla were investigated along different grain directions. The results showed that the dielectric permittivity along with the dielectric loss factor increased significantly with the elevation in MC. At the frequency of 2380 MHz with the MC increasing from 0% to 100%, the dielectric permittivity along different grain directions (including longitudinal, radial and tangential directions) increased by 180%, 110% and 112%, respectively, while the loss factor along these three directions increased by 1642%, 3703% and 5058%, respectively. In addition, the increase in dielectric properties of Eucalyptus urophylla wood was determined with the temperature elevating. When the temperature elevated from 20 °C to 140 °C, the dielectric permittivity at 2380 MHz along the longitudinal, radial and tangential directions, increased by 19%, 14% and 15%, respectively, while the loss factor increased by 133% at most. As the radio frequency increased, the dielectric permittivity of wood decreased. Regression equations satisfactorily described the dielectric properties of wood along different grain directions with different moisture contents.
