This study aims to examine the effect of external locus of control based on students’ gender towards impulsive buying. The subjects of this study are 80 students in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, aged 17-21 years. The Impulsive Buying and External Scales of Locus of Control were the instruments of this research. Simple linear regression analysis used as the data analysis. The results showed that external locus of control had a significant influence on impulsive buying in students, with F count of 56.702 and p = 0.000 (0 <0.010). This showed a significant influence between impulsive buying of clothing products with external locus of control on students. There is a positive influence between external locus of control on impulsive buying and gender as a moderator variable. The hypothesis proposed in this study is acceptable. It is concluded that between impulsive buying and external locus of control occurs because of causality or influence each other.

This paper examined issues related to the search for means of improving performance among learners through explaining one of the psychological basis of academic achievement, that is, Locus of Control (LOC) which is a personality variable. The concept and different orientations of LOC were discussed. The issue of age, familial origins and gender with relevance to LOC were discussed. The desirability or otherwise of the internal and external LOC was also discussed. The paper concluded that higher external orientation and higher internal orientation could lead to anxiety and frustration in some instances. Implications for Educational Psychology were raised, which included counselling students to realize their mistakes, so that they don’t attribute their expected failures to the teacher or something else. They should also be counselled not to set unachievable goals that when effort put in place failed, the situation would not result into anxiety and frustration.

Psychological resilience is a broad concept that can be evaluated in the context of past experiences, emotional experiences and control mechanisms shaped by internal or external factors. In this study, the role of childhood traumas, emotional self-efficacy and the internal-external locus of control were investigated in predicting psychological resilience. The study included a total of 291 participants (208 females and 83 males) with average age of 20.29 (SD = 2.59). Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, Emotional Self-Efficacy Scale, Internal-External Locus of Control Scale and Psychological Resilience Scale were used to collect data from participants. As a result of simple linear regression analysis, childhood traumas experiences, emotional self-efficacy and internal locus of control predicted resilience significantly among university students. Also, there was significant positive relationship between emotional self-efficacy, locus of control and resilience. On the other hand, resilience and childhood traumas were correlated negatively. The findings of the study are discussed at the end. The protective factors related to psychological resilience should be considered in a versatile way to understand its fundamental structure.

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of information asymmetry and invidual factors such as compensation satisfaction, locus of control and competency on the tendency for doing fraud in procurement of goods/services. The population in this study are all employees of Procurement Services Unit (ULP), Procurement Official (PP) and Committing Officer (PPK) in all State Universities in DKI Jakarta Province. This research uses saturated sampling technique, where the entire research population is used as respondent. Multiple linear regression is used to analysis the data. The results shows that asymmetry of information has no significant influence on the tendency of individuals in fraud procurement of good/services. Compensation satisfaction has no significant influence on individual tendencies in fraud procurement of goods/services. Moreover, External locus of control and competence have a positive influence and significant on the tendency of individuals to commit fraud in procurement of goods/services

The aim of this study was to see how teachers' burnout is related to different aspects of locus of control, job satisfaction and demographic characteristics such as age and gender. The Job Satisfaction Scale was used to measure the subjects' job satisfaction level. In addition, the Maslach Burnout Inventory which was used to measure dimensions of teachers' burnout consisted of three subscales: emotional exhaustion, personal accomplishment and depersonalisation. The Internal-External Locus of Control Scale was used to measure the extent to which teachers had an internal or external locus of control. The findings showed that all burnout dimensions were either positively or negatively related to independent variables. All variables were statistically significant in predictive effect on depersonalisation. External locus of control and age (predictor variables) were positively and directly related to emotional exhaustion dimension of burnout. Only one variable—age (predictor variable)—was significantly predictive of personal accomplishment.

The current paper aimed to investigate the relation between the locus of control and creativity with learning styles among the third grade high school students in the city of Kamyaran. The universe under study in this research consisted of all third grade high school students of the city of Kamyaran. The statistical population included 300 third grade students who were chosen by the cluster sampling method. Tools for collecting data involved the Abedi's creativity questionnaire (1993), Rotter's internal and external locus of control scale (1996) and the Kolb's learning styles questionnaire (1971). To analyze the data, the independent groups t test, one-way variance analysis (ANOVA), the simple Pearson correlation and the multivariate variance analysis (MANOVA) were sued. Results indicated that there was a difference between students and the internal and external locus of control in terms of various learning styles (P<0/03), and also there was a difference between the students with the various learning styles and the creativity level (P<0/01). Findings also suggested that there was a significant difference between the internal and external locus of control with the creativity and gender, and also there was not a significant difference between learning styles and gender.

Abstract. Locus of control is one of the personality characteristics possessed by humans. Locus of control can be divided into two, namely internal locus of control and external locus of control. Locus of control is a predictor of several other variables, such as learning achievement. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of locus of control with learning achievement. This research uses descriptive and correlational methods. The instrument filling is done online by using the google form application considering the increasing spread of COVID-19. Finally, as many as 36 students participated in filling this instrument. In this study, researchers used the Rotters Internal-External Locus of Control (IE Scale) inventory consisting of 29 items, of which there were 6 filler items, so that the total number of items that could be processed was 23 items, while to see learning achievement using the Grade Point Average (GPA) that researchers get from the Academic Information System (SIAKAD). Research findings show that locus of control has a strong negative relationship with student learning achievement. We advise students to have an internal locus of control while continuing to believe in God; The counselor is expected to be able to arrange an intervention program for students who have an external locus of control and have low learning achievement.
