The sustainability of human resource management (HRM) is the basis for an organization’s future growth and success. This study aims to investigate achieving HRM sustainability in universities. We use a quantitative research method design to investigate the factors that affect HRM sustainability at universities. The study was conducted during the spring and summer of 2020 at Iranian state universities. As the study’s statistical population included 2543 employees, a sample size of 334 employees was calculated using the Cochran formula. A questionnaire with 32 statements based on a 5-point Likert scale was used to collect the data, which were analyzed using PLS3 software. The findings show that human resource practices, social factors, psychological factors, employer branding, and economic factors have positive and significant effects on HRM sustainability at universities. Findings indicate that it is essential to consider the implementation of adequate HRM practices and related socio-economic and psychological supports for HRM sustainability in universities that can lead to the competitiveness of the higher education institutions such as universities.

State universities have a library as a facility to support students’ education and science, which contains various books, journals, and final assignments. An intelligent system for classifying documents is needed to ease library visitors in higher education as a form of service to students. The documents that are in the library are generally the result of research. Various complaints related to the imbalance of data texts and categories based on irrelevant document titles and words that have the ambiguity of meaning when searching for documents are the main reasons for the need for a classification system. This research uses k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN) to categorize documents based on study interests with information gain features selection to handle unbalanced data and cosine similarity to measure the distance between test and training data. Based on the results of tests conducted with 276 training data, the highest results using the information gain selection feature using 80% training data and 20% test data produce an accuracy of 87.5% with a parameter value of k=5. The highest accuracy results of 92.9% are achieved without information gain feature selection, with the proportion of training data of 90% and 10% test data and parameters k=5, 7, and 9. This paper concludes that without information gain feature selection, the system has better accuracy than using the feature selection because every word in the document title is considered to have an essential role in forming the classification.

Abstract: Statistics and research are two things that cannot be separated. Although there are types of research that do not require the dominant role of statistics (qualitative research), but to be able to produce conclusions that can be generalized to a wider population, statistics is needed. Such research is quantitative research with a positivistic paradigm, ie a phenomenon is real if it can be seen, measured, and classified. The application of statistical science which is generally needed by students in writing research such as theses and theses, will have a positive impact, especially in improving the quality of the research. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to conduct socialization to students. The socialization was carried out to several students from both state universities and private universities in the city of Palembang. The socialization was done by introducing and giving tutorials on how to use statistical applications such as SPSS and Eviews, because several lecturers at several universities in Palembang complained about the poor quality of research and some said that their students did not really understand how to use SPSS and Eviews. The first result of this service is that students' understanding of SPSS and Eviews can be seen from discussions and questions and answers, second, namely the ability of students to apply the use of SPSS and Eviews in research.

This chapter reviews the literature on the use of business analytics in higher education. Universities have large datasets available to predict future direction and generate actionable information. An important type of analytics used to improve management processes and to make informed decisions is big data business analytics. State university executive leaders may improve the effectiveness of their decisions by integrating business analytics in the decision-making models. However, there is a need to examine the use of big data business analytics in the decision-making process at the executive leadership level of the selected state universities. Especially in the context of how descriptive, predictive, prescriptive, decisive and basic analytics, and data collection influence the decision-making process at the executive leadership level of the state universities in terms of student retention and graduation rates.

Adopting a quantitative research design, this study aimed to develop Student Survey of Knowledge Management Capabilities in Higher Education (SSKMCHE) and Academic Staff Survey of Knowledge Management Capabilities in Higher Education (ASKMCHE) to measure the knowledge management capabilities in state universities from the perspectives of both students and academics. The participants were 512 undergraduate students and 300 academics working full-time in state universities in Istanbul during the academic years of 2017–2018 and 2018–2019. The explanatory factor analysis (EFA) was performed to determine the validity of the surveys, and the Pearson correlation analyses and matched-pair t-tests were performed to find out the reliability of the surveys, and Cronbach alpha coefficients were calculated for each sub-dimension to test their internal consistency. At the end of the study, 43-item 5-point Likert-type scale of SSKMCHE and 50-item 5-point Likert-type scale of ASKMCHE were developed, which measure 7 dimensions: technology, organizational structure, and organizational culture as the dimensions of knowledge management infrastructure capabilities, and knowledge acquisition, knowledge conversion, knowledge application, and knowledge protection as the dimensions of knowledge management process capabilities.

Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, market relations and institutions have begun vigorously penetrating not only the fields of production and services, but also the social sphere. In this text, the author reveals the contradictions implicit in the transformations that over 30 years have occurred in post-Soviet Russia in the field of education and that have seen the total marketisation of this area. As an example, the article examines Russian universities. The process of marketisation of university education has taken the direct forms of the establishment of private universities and the introduction of paid tuition in state universities, and also of changes to the administrative structures of universities, to the content of instruction programmes, and to assessment of the quality of the education received by students as well as of the outcomes of the activity both of university teachers and of the institutions as a whole.

This study aimed to determine the influence of leadership behaviour on organizational culture among the academic deans of state universities and colleges (SUCs) in Panay Island, Philippines. The 125 purposively selected academic deans who responded during the conduct of the study were the respondents of this investigation. Two (2) adapted research instruments were utilised to gather data, accompanied by an information sheet. Frequency counts, percentages, means, and standard deviations were used for descriptive analysis, while the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis set at 0.05 alpha level were employed for inferential analysis. The results of the study showed that the respondents possessed very high levels of "pioneering/visionary", "team facilitation", and "encouraging/coaching" leadership behaviours, while also possessing high levels of leadership behaviours in being "strategic", "management/administrative", and "relational/social". The respondents had a very great extent of the practice of organizational culture in all the four organizational culture traits. According to the findings, there were positive, significant correlations between each type of leadership behaviour and organizational culture. Furthermore, "management/administrative" and "encouraging/coaching" leadership behaviours significantly impact organizational culture. In conclusion, academic deans should encourage "management/administrative" and "encouraging/coaching" behaviours in themselves as well as their constituents to strengthen and enhance the extent of the practice of organizational culture in the institution. These appear to be powerful mechanisms for the organization to rapidly adapt to changing institutional demands, remain competitive, and maintain high levels of performance and effectiveness.

The emergence of cloud computing (CC) adoption in higher education institutions (HEIs) is considered widespread today. Its growth comes with tremendous benefits and potential risks as well. This paper endeavors to investigate some issues and challenges that influence the adoption of cloud computing among state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the Philippines. A qualitative design was used in the study as it employed multiple case studies approach. Based on the results, this paper establishes two strong factors such as slow internet connection and lack of understanding or awareness of cloud computing. The findings revealed the impact of cloud computing to SUCs is found beneficial to the educational system amidst the global pandemic. Professors can easily upload lessons and teaching materials while students can easily access the materials online, though the challenge lies in the connectivity of internet in the country. Administrators can easily collaborate with the entire academic community and even to its stakeholder’s potential for collaboration even if not in face to face. It is a perfect avenue to be productive and efficient which allows all processes be made possible to all members of the entire academic community, may it be students, professors, staff and even other stakeholders.

Today, the use of technology is a powerful advantage in every field in the society. With the advent of development in information and communications technology (ICT), the process of learning and acquiring new knowledge had undergone a shift marked by a transition from desktop computing to the widespread use of mobile technology. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission on Higher Education said that colleges and universities following the new school calendar will no longer require students to attend face-to-face classes. One of the state universities that had been affected by this inevitable situation is the Laguna State Polytechnic University. This study aims to determine the readiness of the students in shifting to m-learning. Specifically, it aims to determine the availability of mobile devices, equipment readiness, technological skills readiness and psychological readiness. A survey-based methodology was used to obtain the data and descriptive statistics to analyze the results. It was determined that almost all of the students own mobile devices, are fully equipped with applications, have high technological skills and are quite ready in terms of psychological readiness.
