Currently, the distribution of Brachycephalus hermogenesi (Giaretta and Sawaya, 1998) ranges from the state of Rio de Janeiro to the state of São Paulo. Herein, we report for the first time the occurrence of B. hermogenesi in the state of Paraná, southern Brazil.

Lopesia grandis (Insecta, Diptera, Cecidomyiidae) is recorded for the first time in the state of Bahia. This species induces leaf galls on Dalbergia ecastophyllum (L.) Taub. (Fabaceae). The previous records included only the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, so the geographic distribution of this galling species is extended to the Northeast region of Brazil.

Three species of the terrestrial isopod genus Neotroponiscus Arcangeli, 1936 have new records presented in this paper. Neotroponiscus lenkoi Lemos de Castro, 1970, previously known only from the state of São Paulo, is recorded for the first time from the state of Rio de Janeiro. Two other species, N. argentinus (Giambiagi de Calabrese, 1939) and N. lobatus Lemos de Castro, 1970 have complementary records from the states of Santa Catarina and Espírito Santo, respectively. A distribution map is also presented.

Twenty-seven new species of the genus Neoxyphinus are described, all from Brazil, raising the total number of species of the genus to 48. Melanemerella brasiliana (Ulmer, 1920) occurs in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Espírito Santo states, Brazil. Here, we record it for the first time from the state of Bahia. The new record is based on nymphs collected from Serra Bonita Reserve, municipality of Camacan, Bahia.

The genus Exocora Millidge, 1991 is recorded from Brazil for the first time. Six new species herein are described and illustrated, all presenting male and female, from Atlantic Forest area. Exocora phoenix n. sp. is recorded in the states of Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná and Santa Catarina, E. girotii n. sp. in the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná and Santa Catarina, E. ribeiroi n. sp. in São Paulo, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, E. medonho n. sp. in Rio de Janeiro, E. nogueirai n. sp. in São Paulo and E. una n. sp. in Bahia.

Pogoniopsis is an endemic and myco-heterotrophic orchid genus with only two species in Brazil that can be found growing under dense canopy. Pogoniopsis schenckii is more widely distributed, with records in the states of Bahia, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo. Here we record P. schenckii for the first time in Santa Catarina state, southern Brazil, in a subtropical broadleaved forest, as well the genus Pogoniopsis itself, expanding its southern distribution limit. In addition, a description and a distribution map of the collected specimens are presented.

The genus Echinoporia is characterized by the presence of chlamydospores originating from hairs in the pileus and margin, or the dissepiment edges. Two species of Echinoporia are found in America, i.e., E. aculeifera and E. inermis. In a study of Neotropical polypores, several specimens of Echinoporia were collected in the Atlantic rainforest, São Paulo state. Echinoporia inermis is recorded for the second time in Brazil. Echinoporia aculeifera is recorded for the first time in São Paulo state. A distribution map of the genus in the Neotropics is presented.

The male of Aillutticus rotundus Galiano, 1987 is described for the first time and new records are presented from the states of Acre, Mato Grosso do Sul and São Paulo, Brazil. In addition, five new species of this genus are described from Brazil: A. knysakae sp. nov. from the states of Minas Gerais, Piauí and Tocantins, A. montanus sp. nov. from the state of Minas Gerais, A. raizeri sp. nov. from the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, A. soteropolitano sp. nov. from the state of Bahia, and A. viripotens sp. nov. from the states of Rondônia and Tocantins.

We present a new species, a new synonym, the resurrection of a species that has been synonymized before, updates on the distribution of three species, and lectotypifications for two species of Meriania from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. Meriania baumgratziana is a new species apparently restricted to montane areas in the western portion of the state of Rio de Janeiro. It can be recognized by the sessile to subsessile leaves, these lanceolate, elliptic lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, with cordate to cordulate, amplexicaul bases (seldom narrowly round), the abaxial surface in young leaves with the union of the primary and the inner pair of secondary veins with a membrane forming pocket domatia, these with trichomes emerging from the inside, then in older leaves the membranes frequently enlarged, globular, these hypertrophied structures sometimes caducous, or easily removed by friction, and by the pendulous inflorescences with 4-merous flowers. Meriania paratyensis Chiavegatto & Baumgratz is synonymized under M. sanchezii R.Goldenb., which in turn is resurrected from what we understand as a mistaken synonymy under M. paniculata DC. We present a discussion and illustrations of leaves and fruits, in order to explain these changes and compare all these three species, plus a fourth similar species, M. glabra (DC.) Naudin. The distributions of Meriania calyptrata (Naudin) Triana and M. sanchezii are updated, the former with the inclusion of specimens collected in the western tip of the state of Rio de Janeiro (it was previously recorded only for eastern São Paulo), and the latter in the exactly opposite way, with new records from Rio de Janeiro added to the previously known specimens from São Paulo. Finally, lectotypes are designated for Meriania calyptrata and M. glabra (DC.) Naudin (this superseding a previous, unnecessary designation of a neotype).

The new species Oiovelia shepardi is described based on macropterous specimens from the departments of La Guajira and Antioquia in northwestern Colombia, and is compared to its presumed closest relative. The female of Paravelia cunhai Rodrigues & Moreira, 2016 and the male of P. polhemusi Rodrigues, Moreira, Nieser, Chen & Melo, 2014 are described for the first time. The specimens of the two species of Paravelia Breddin were collected in waters inside caves in the State of Pará, northern Brazil. Further, the micropterous form of Steinovelia vinnula (Drake, 1951) is described, compared with S. virgata (White, 1879), and new distributional records are provided. Illustrations and a geographic distribution map of all species treated here are presented.
