Purpose – Aiming to fulfill the need to consolidate and carry out a critical analysis of the studies developed on Organizational Culture and Quality Management Systems, this study aims to understand the relationship between these concepts through a systematic review of the literature. Design/methodology/approach – This study is descriptive and is predominantly classified as a quantitative approach. Using the systematic literature review technique, publications contained in the Materials Science & Engineering Database, Emerald Insight, OneFile (GALE), Taylor & Francis Online - Journals, ScienceDirect Journals (Elsevier), Elsevier (CrossRef), Directory of databases were analyzed Open Access Journals (DOAJ), MEDLINE / PubMed (NLM), Library & Information Science Collection and Springer (CrossRef) and 22 studies that deal with the topics in an integrated manner were used. Findings – The analysis shows that the Cameron and Quinn (2011) and Hofstede (2003) models are the most used. Regarding the business sectors in which studies were carried out, no research relating to the topics studied in utilities companies had been carried out, with most of the studies (38%) carried out in companies in the industrial sector. Originality/value – With regard to aspects of quality management relating to organizational culture, there is a balance between the hard and soft elements in the literature and that most studies put forward the management levels of companies as the target audience for the data source. Keywords - Organizational Culture, Management System, Quality Management System, Systematic Literature Review.

PurposeThis study used a qualitative approach on five case studies in Brazilian industrial companies. The research used interviews, document analysis and on-site visits to collect and analyze data. The companies were selected based on the following criteria: operating in the industrial sector, updating their quality management system (QMS) process to ISO 9001: 2015 and agreeing to participate in this study.Design/methodology/approachThis article aims to investigate the strategies of industrial companies adopted for ISO-9001:2015 certification in light of the six major advances concerning the previous version. Thus, QMS of other organizations can incorporate identified lessons learned, whether certified or not.FindingsThe main finding of the research is the systematization of a set of lessons learned in the experiences of implementing the six significant advances of ISO 9001 concerning the previous version by industrial companies in the State of São Paulo in Brazil. These lessons can and should be used by other organizations to improve their QMSs.Practical implicationsThe practices identified in this empirical research can serve as benchmarking to assist quality managers from other companies in QMS certification based on ISO 9001: 2015 or even those not certified but interested in updating their QMSs. Therefore, lessons learned can significantly minimize efforts to improve your projects, processes, products and services. These findings can also help industrial companies improve their production efficiency and effectiveness through quality improvement.Originality/valueThe main novelty of the research is the consolidation of theoretical and practical analysis of the main changes in the latest version of the ISO 9001 standards. The efforts to fulfill those changes result in lessons learned. The “lessons learned” will form a new block of knowledge that will subsidize theoretical (new research) and practical (formulation of a new ISO 9001 standard and helps quality managers improve their systems).

ABSTRACT: For effective management of each company, it is important to have the most accurate overview of your costs, and this also applies to quality management. Within the framework of compliance with the principles of management according to ISO 9001, this is a process principle and the principle of continuous improvement. Organizations can use different models for this. The main goal of the paper was to find out whether in a specific company with an established quality management system, quality expenditures are effectively spent on the basis of the extended PAF model (Prevention Appraisal and Failure). The development of total quality costs in the years 2003-2017 in thous. CZK, in the costs of external and internal defects, wasted investments and opportunities, environmental damage, evaluation expenses and expenses on prevention and improvement. The share of individual quality expenditures was also monitored against sales, the values of which for all groups of expenditures were within the recommended range, so it can be stated that due to production, the performance of the quality management system according to the PAF model is at a good level.

The demand for ISO 9001 certification is increasing, both from the public and private sectors. The adoption of a quality management system should be a strategic decision of an organization. The design and implementation of an organization's quality management system is influenced by varying needs, particular objectives, the products provided, the processes employed and the size and structure of the organization.  It is necessary to explore the issues related to effective implementation of ISO 9001. The objective of this article is to scrutinize the OBD issues, facts, and problems related to implementing ISO 9001 in various industries in order to collect and categorize these factors and issues for finding common critical factors. Authors tried to find related data from each industry with the aim of internet, observation, interview, and questionnaire. After data collection, the Meta analysis will be used to achieve probable common factors or factors that have had more influence on implementing ISO9001 successfully. The influential issues in effective implementation of ISO9001 can be classified into internal and external issues. There are several OBD-related issues like organizational culture, leadership commitment, team working and communication that have a crucial role in this area. The recent spread of invasive mosquito species, such as Aedes albopictus and the seasonal sporadic transmission of autochthonous cases of arboviral diseases (e.g., dengue, chikungunya, Zika) in temperate areas, such as Europe and North America, highlight the importance of effective mosquito-control interventions to reduce not only nuisance, but also major threats for public health. Local, regional, and even national mosquito control programs have been established in many countries and are executed on a seasonal basis by either public or private bodies. In order for these interventions to be worthwhile, funding authorities should ensure that mosquito control is (a) planned by competent scientific institutions addressing the local demands, (b) executed following the plan that is based on recommended and effective methods and strategies, (c) monitored regularly by checking the efficacy of the implemented actions, (d) evaluated against the set of targets, and (e) regularly improved according to the results of the monitoring. Adherence to these conditions can only be assured if a formal quality management system is adopted and enforced that ensures the transparency of effectiveness of the control operation. The current paper aims at defining the two components of this quality management system, quality assurance and quality control for mosquito control programs with special emphasis on Europe, but applicable over temperate areas.

AbstractThere is a broad consensus on the importance and advisability of testing laboratories adopting a Quality Management System (QMS) to support their work, no matter they are industrial or research oriented. However, laboratories involved in R&D have specific difficulties to implement a QMS due to the peculiar nature of their activity. This paper analyzes the main challenges and difficulties found by professionals when implementing a QMS in a research testing laboratory, based on the literature review and a questionnaire with 86 laboratories participating performed in collaboration with RedLab (Red de Laboratorios de la Comunidad de Madrid). After this analysis, a set of requirements for the competence of research testing laboratories based on ISO/IEC 17025 and UNE 166002 is defined, and an agile methodology for the fulfilment of these requirements is proposed.
