Abstract In this work, the temperature effects on the PV’s electrical and optical parameters of different surface gratings are studied. A 3D simulation is introduced for studying the PV’s electrical parameters such as short circuit current, open circuit voltage and efficiency at different levels of temperature with and without surface’s gratings. We observed that the efficiency is increased for PV of surface grating by about 4.87% compared to the free grating surface’s PV. The efficiency of the PV efficiency is degraded as we increased the temperature above 300K. The solar cell efficiency of gratings free is aggressively degraded compared to the solar cell that includes gratings by about 4.89% at 360K. The electrical parameters such as the open circuit voltage and short circuit current are enhanced compared to the PV of surface grating free. Also, we observed that the triangle grating geometry of dimensions about 10×10 nm produced a higher efficiency compared to the other PV of other grating geometries of same dimensions.

This paper studies the effect of temperature, humidity and irradiance on the power generated by a photovoltaic solar cell. This was achieved using pyranometer for determining the solar radiation, wet and dry thermometer for measuring humidity, and digital multimeter for voltage and current measurement. The result of the study show that power generation increases with increase of solar irradiance. Additionally, changes of humidity level and temperature do not significantly affect solar power generation. Furthermore, it was also observed that high temperatures and higher humidity levels accelerate the corrosion process on the solar cells which reduces the efficiency of the cells.

As more electronics are used in down-hole energy exploration, under the hood automotive applications, and in other environments where temperatures exceed 200 °C; there is a need for compact passive magnetic components that operate reliably at elevated temperatures. Most ferrites used to make multi layer ceramic inductors have Curie temperatures in the 100–200 °C range. As temperatures rise above the Curie point ferrites lose their magnetic properties and become paramagnetic. This means that traditional multi-layer ceramic inductors suffer severe performance degradation when operated at elevated temperatures. Therefore, ferrite materials with higher Curie temperatures need to be developed to increase device performance and reliability at these high temperatures. In this work inductors were made from a low-temperature, co-fire compatible, ferrite with a Curie temperature of 350 °C. The inductors were first subjected to a 1000 hour life test at 300 °C during which the electrical parameters were found to change no more than 4 %. The inductance, resistance, core loss, and saturation flux density of the inductors were measured at various temperatures. Additional testing focused on the effect of temperature on the device's frequency profile and performance changes under thermal cycling and thermal shock.

The aim of this work is to study the behaviour of a silicon solar cell under the irradiation of different fluences of high-energy proton radiation (10 MeV) and under constant multispectral illumination. Many theoretical et experimental studies of the effect of irradiation (proton, gamma, electron, etc.) on solar cells have been carried out. These studies point out the effect of irradiation on the behaviour of the solar cell electrical parameters but do not explain the causes of these effects. In our study, we explain fundamentally the causes of the effects of the irradiation on the solar cells. Taking into account the empirical formula of diffusion length under the effect of high-energy particle irradiation, we established new expressions of continuity equation, photocurrent density, photovoltage, and dynamic junction velocity. Based on these equations, we studied the behaviour of some electronic and electrical parameters under proton radiation. Theoretical results showed that the defects created by the irradiation change the carrier distribution and the carrier dynamic in the bulk of the base and then influence the solar cell electrical parameters (short-circuit current, open-circuit voltage, conversion efficiency). It appears also in this study that, at low fluence, junction dynamic velocity decreases due to the presence of tunnel defects. Obtained results could lead to improve the quality of the junction of a silicon solar cell.
