AbstractThe aim of this clinical trial was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of a collagen barrier along with an alloplastic bone graft in the treatment of gingival recession defects. Two patients having Miller’s Class I or Class II recession defects participated in the study. One was treated with a collagen membrane covered by a coronally positioned flap. Second patient also had bone graft placed beneath the membrane. Clinical parameters were recorded. Patients were followed postoperatively and healing was evaluated at 1, 3 and 6 months, with recession depth as the primary criteria for assessment. This case report revealed a favorable tissue response to bone graft and collagen membrane from both clinical and esthetic point of view in the treatment of gingival recession. Root coverage tended to be better with the addition of bone graft.

Introduction In this case report we present the aesthetical correction of crowded anterior teeth in a patient who has refused the orthodontic treatment. We also discuss how this correction can be resolved from the point of view of dental prosthetic and what measurements can be helpful in order to collect the data used to restore a satisfying smile on the patient’s face using dental ceramic restoration. Case presentation: A 32-year-old patient complained about his crowded incisors. We examined the incisal curvature, the proportion between the height and the width of the teeth, and the relation between the widths of the teeth and the golden proportion. The results of the measurements were compared to the characteristic values of the ideal denture. After the examination of the dental plaster cast, calculating the difference between the existing space and the necessary space, we were able to calculate the lack of space, which caused the crowded teeth. Conclusion: Along the prosthetic planning, these measurements may serve as a guideline to the dentist as an objective basis for the formation of an aesthetic denture and smile.

Vitriolage is an extreme form of violence in Bangladesh. The alarming increase in its frequency is a cause of concern. Violence against woman within South Asia includes rape and sexual abuse, trafficking, prostitution, domestic violence, dowry related deaths and psychological abuse. The reported case is of a 25 years old lady affected by acid burn in her face and adjoining part of the head during night while she was sleeping. On medicolegal point of view, the injury was homicidal in nature to run away without having a motive to kill the person. We should create public consciousness against this sort of brutal act. Objective In this case report, we present an unusual combination of three congenital malformations: median cleft of the lower lip, lip pits, and unilateral cleft of the lip and palate without familial occurrence. Conclusions From an etiological point of view, this combination of malformations could have happened during the late embryogenic period. Why this combination is uncommon is not known.

The following case study describes a 22-year-old woman with depression and symptoms of psychosis who developed neuroleptic malignant syndrome after using Risperidone, thus requiring life support equipment and Bromocriptine, later recovering after seven days. From a psychiatric and neurological point of view, however, the persistence of catatonic syndrome and Cotard syndrome delusions was observed, based on assertions such as “I do not have a heart,” “my heart is not beating,” “I can not breathe,” “I am breaking apart,” “I have no head” (ideas of negation) and statements about the patient being responsible for the “death of the whole world” (ideas of enormity). Brain NMR revealed leukoencephalopathy, interpreted as scar lesions caused by perinatal neurological damage, after discarding other pathologies. The patient responded well to electroconvulsive therapy after 11 sessions. Organic vulnerability to these syndromes, as well as their coexistence and clinical differentiation is discussed in the light of the data observed.

We appreciate the author’s positive comments about our article published in the July 2020 issue of the Oman Medical Journal. We agree with your suggestion to include pre- and intraoperative and macroscopic figures to give more information and knowledge for the readers. Our patient gave us consent to publish the case, understanding that it is a very rare pathology. From an ethical point of view and to respect the patients’ autonomy and confidentiality, we submitted only microscopic pictures as the diagnostic criteria of leiomyosarcoma.

Stabbing is the most common method of homicide in developing countries like Bangladesh, due to poverty, over population, joblessness, political unrest, etc. The reported case is of a 27 years old man stabbed on the front of the left thigh, a relatively unusual site by a sharp pointed knife by some snatchers while sitting on a rickshaw. On medicolegal point of view the injury was homicidal in nature to run away without having a motive to kill the person. The site was easily approachable for the snatchers. We need to create awareness among general population about the circumstances and probable mishaps that can happen unexpectedly. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/dmcj.v2i1.17795 Delta Med Col J.
