This study attempted to try out Chinese-character education centering on experience and learners away from existing lecture-centered, teacher-centered education. For this purpose, problem-based learning (PBL) was proposed as one of the Chinese-language ability-enhancement measures for Korean learners of the Chinese language, and in order to examine the effect, we attempt to use the PBL tasks in the ‘Chinese-language reading’ class at a university for basic Chinese-language learners and analyze the results. PBL is a teaching-learning method in which learners focus on learning by using problems. In this study, we attempted to use PBL for the group work format. In this way, we can confirm that the class using the PBL has many advantages, such as improving learning ability and problem-solving ability, and strengthening cooperation. In addition, it was found that PBL is worthwhile to try because it is effective in inducing learning motivation, improving attention and interest in Chinese-character learning, improving learning attitudes of learners, and developing self-directed learning abilities.

Background: Bangladesh, A country with scintillating beauty of nature burdened with a dense population. Along with infectious diseases, tropical diseases are also prevalent here with a higher trend of non- communicable diseases as a result of industrialization. Practicing and prescribing as a doctor is a quite challenging profession here particularly when to deal with vast rural populations in a low resource facility. Medical education system is well developed in Bangladesh which follows traditional curriculum of teaching learning. Students are not accustomed with problem-based learning as it does not exist in curriculum. In order to confront with diverse disease pattern and overloaded population in this arduous backdrop of Bangladesh, problem- based learning can be a very effective tool for preparing medical students as an efficient, self- directed and insightful prescriber. This study was a primary step to introduce problem- based learning (PBL) to medical students of Bangladesh to evaluate the effectiveness of PBL in context of Bangladesh. Methods: Around 117 students of 4th year from 6 different medical colleges were randomly assigned for this study. Among them, half of the students attended PBL session for three days on a topic of Pharmacology and other students participated traditional lecture class. Following classes, odds ratio of performance was determined. MCQ, SAQ and total scores of assessment were compared. Comparison of scores was also done between male and female students of PBL group. Results: PBL students performed better than the LBL students. Odds ratio of their assessment performance was 252.08; with 95% confidence interval and lower range 53.89 and upper range 1179.28. The odds ratio showed strong association between PBL and student performance in Bangladesh context. Mean of total score was 30.7 ± 4.3 in PBL group and 17.2 ± 4.8 in LBL group. Total score was significantly higher (p= 0.000) in PBL group. Mean SAQ score in PBL and LBL group was 17.2 ± 2.2 and 5.3 ± 1.9 respectively which was extremely significant (p= 0.000). MCQ score mean was 13.4 ± 3.4 in PBL group versus 11.8 ± 3.7 in LBL group which was significantly higher in PBL group (p= 0.02). Among PBL group, total score and SAQ score was significantly higher in female students over male students. Conclusion: Significant findings of this study revealed PBL as an effective tool in Bangladesh context. Thereby, it is recommended from this study to take approaches for further study and initiative to incorporate PBL in curriculum as well. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of problem based learning (PBL) method on motivation readiness and learning outcomes.The research employs quasi experimental design “On Group Pretest-Postest Design”. The total population is 70 students, and the samples selected is18 respondent. The sampling technique employed is non probability sampling. The results of analysis using Wilxocon Matched Pair indicates that there is significant influence of  PBL on the dependent variables, with the p-value for learning motivation, p = 0,000, study readiness, p = 0,001 and learning outcomes p = 0,001. The findings confirm that problem based learning (PBL) method has significant effects on motivation study, readiness and learning outcomes, which implies that this methods can be employed for effective teaching learning.   Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan pengaruh metode Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap motivasi, kesiapan dan hasil belajar. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen (quasi eksperimental design) dengan rancangan “One Group Pretest-Posttes Design”. Jumlah populasi 70 mahasiswa dan sampel yang diambil sebanyak 18 responden. Teknik pengambilan sample dengan Non probability Sampling jenis purposive sampling. Hasil pengolahan data uji Wilcoxon Matched Pair menyatakan bahwa terdapat pengaruh dengan nilai p-value dari masing-masing variabel yaitu motivasi belajar p =0,000, kesiapan belajar p = 0,001 dan hasil belajar p = 0,001. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwaterdapat pengaruh signifikan penggunaan metode problem based learning (PBL) terhadap motivasi, kesiapan dan hasil. Dengan demikian metode problem based learning ini dapat menjadi bahan pertimbangan dalam upaya menghasilkan pembelajaran yang efektif.

Abstract Active methodologies have been widely used in education to provide greater involvement in the teaching-learning process. In the face of the current pandemic scenario, remote activities are strategies to spread knowledge but require adaptations of face-to-face education. However, no records were found of its use to support research groups, which traditionally are based on personal contacts. The article reports the experience of selecting participants in the development of research in the area of starch prospecting, with an adaptation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) technique. The proposed problem was the characterization and evaluation of cassava starch for food industries application, using a sample limited to one gram. The PBL technique used research with a qualitative approach, applied nature, descriptive objective, and action research procedures. The five members that constituted the discussion group were from different professional areas and were selected among those who made up a larger group, with starch as the central theme. The PBL technique was adapted to be completed in three videoconference meetings, with intervals of 15 days. Based on the suggestions proposed and improved during the event, it was possible to outline the solution right at the first meeting. An analytical methodology can also be established within the specified limit, capable of prospecting its food industries application. Therefore, PBL as a strategic tool to develop research topics proved effective and flexible, and suitable for remote activities. It is recommended that it be better explored as a team leader and scientific research growth.
