Background: Breast cancer (BC) is one of the most common cancers in women. Among factors reducing BC mortality, referring to health centers for early diagnosis is important. The level of knowledge, attitude, and performance of women toward BC risk factors has a major contribution in deciding to refer to a health center for early diagnosis. Objectives: The present study aimed to assess the level of knowledge, attitude, and performance of women referring to Kashan and Aran-O-Bidgol comprehensive health centers toward breast cancer risk factors. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 820 women aged 30 years and above in 2020 using a standard questionnaire, including sections of sociodemographic and existence risk factors, 20 items for women's awareness of the signs and symptoms of BC, risk factors, and breast self-examination, 10 items for attitude measurement, and 5 items for performance measurement. Data analysis was administered by SPSS using relative frequency and Chi-square tests. Results: Data of 776 (94.6%) participants were included in the analysis. The majority of participants had a moderate level of knowledge (66.4%) and attitude (76.6%) towards BC. For performance, about 44% of the participants had no breast self-examination during the last year. The results showed a significant association between marital status and education level with knowledge and attitude; employment with knowledge; age and income with attitude and performance (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Given the low level of knowledge, attitude, and performance of old aged and low educated women, as well as the increased risk of the disease in the elderly, it is necessary to provide educational interventions to this high-risk group.

Breast cancer is a type of cancer that is most commonly found in women. Breast cancer can be found early with conscious examination, clinical examinations, and examination of mammography. Early detection of breast cancer can give a life expectancy. The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences in knowledge about breast self-examination between adolescent girls in high school and women of childbearing age in the area public health centers of Lingkar Timur, Bengkulu City. The type of research used in this study was Pre Experiment using the One Shot Postest Only design. The population in this study is the overall high school student, amounting to 208 and women of childbearing age amounting to 50. the number of samples in this study consisted of 50 high school students and 50 women of childbearing age,so that the total sample amounted to 100 people. The sampling technique uses the Stratified Random Sampling technique for high school students and the total population of women of childbearing age. This study uses primary data that is processed in univariate and bivariate. This research was conducted in May-June 2016. The results of univariate analysis showed that of the 50 female students, 48 (96%) had sufficient knowledge about examining their own breasts while from 50 women of childbearing age 29 people (58%) had good knowledge. The results of bivariate analysis using the Mann-Withney test obtained significant (p = 0,000) 0.05, which means that there are significant differences between the knowledge of adolescent girls and women of childbearing age. It is expected that young women will take part in health screening activities in the working area of public health centers such as Posbindu and for women of childbearing age to increase their awareness of early detection related to women's reproductive health. Keywords:  adolescent girls, breast self-examination, knowledge, women of                   childbearing age

A research on the degree of knowledge about the problem of breast self-examination was carried out in a group of 500 women in the Out-patients Department of the Cancer Institute in Milan. The women were given a questionnaire to fill up at home and to return at the moment of the medical examination. The analysis of data showed that, though the level of education of the subjects was fairly good, the knowledge and the practise of the periodical self-examination as a method for an early diagnosis was very low. 70% of the women declared to have some knowledge about the method, but only 9% declared to practise it regularly.
