In the context of the reform of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and a significant increase in the proportion of military personnel doing military service under contract, the issues of manning the troops with healthy, physically developed citizens with high moral and business qualities are of paramount importance. Of particular importance in the selection of candidates for military service under the contract is the conduct of laboratory and instrumental studies, professional and psychological selection, determination of the level of citizens’ physical fitness. The Federal Law «On Military Duty and Military Service» defines a two-stage system for medical examination of citizens entering military service under contract, which is necessary as a barrier in order to prevent citizenswho do not meet the necessary requirements for military personnel from entering the Russian Armed Forces. At the first stage (preliminary examination), the military and medical examination of citizens was carried out by specialist doctors working in medical organizations of the outpatient-polyclinic link of municipalities at the place of citizens’ permanent residence. Medical specialists of the regular military medical commission of the military commissariat of the constituent entity of the Russian Federation participated in the second stage (final examination) of the military medical examination. During the five-year period under study, 5,133 citizens (72.9 %) were selected out of 7,043 candidates for military service under contract, who fully met all the criteria for defenders of the Fatherland.

Male infertility refers to the inability of a man to have children, after one year of regular unprotected sexual relations without contraceptive measures. The field of fertilitý has become a public health problem for some time, in this regard that it is now well established that the spermocytogram is a medical examination corresponding to the cytological and morphological analysis of spermatozoa, allowing the evaluation of male fertility. In our study, we compare the analysis of sperm with two automatons, the Sperm Class Analyzer (SCA) and the Spermolyzer, on 50 samples of sperm from voluntary men, with the aim of establishing the percentage of normal and abnormal spermatozoa and some specific anomalies, that is to say, the length and the identification of the shape. The results obtained indicate the accuracy and reliability of these automatons, showing more defined analyses with the use of the SCA, in contrast to the insignificant data rendered by the use of the Spermolyzer.

Introduction. Maintaining health and achieving professional longevity is a priority task of medical support for specialists in the power and civil structures of Russia. It is especially important to take into account the impact of several factors of the labour process, as, for example, in the work to eliminate environmental pollution from enterprises producing chemical products, in particular, in the shop of mercury electrolysis. The study aims to explore the health status of employees of law enforcement agencies and civilian personnel involved in the elimination of environmental pollution in the city of Usolye-Sibirskoye, Irkutsk region as a result of economic activities associated with the production of chemical products. Material and methods. The study examined 370 people, whose average age was 28.4±5.5 years, with an average work experience of 6.0±1.05 years. The method of clinical observations was used, the analysis of the results of an in-depth medical examination was carried out in the conditions of the professional center of the clinic of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution VSIMEI. The level and structure of morbidity by the main classes of chronic diseases have been studied. Results. As a result of the analysis of the data of the periodic medical examination, the structural composition of nosological forms of diseases was presented as follows: diseases of the cardiovascular system - 10%, ophthalmological diseases - 5%, endocrinological diseases - 5%, diseases of ENT organs - 10%, practically healthy persons - 70%. The mercury levels were determined at zero values, with the exception of 4 samples, in which the mercury content in the studied urine samples did not exceed the permissible level established by WHO (10 μg / L), the mercury levels in hair samples did not exceed the biologically permissible level (0.0-2,0 μg/g). Conclusion. This study showed the importance of medical examinations using extended examination methods and the need to monitor the health status of liquidators, since the safety of the work carried out also depends on the quality of workers' health.

Introduction: Hypovitaminosis D is a commonly associated with increased prevalence of pulmonary  infections. High mortality rate of  COVID 19 infections is associated with immune dysfunction like cytokine storm. Many studies show important function of vitamin D in proper functioning of immune system.  Very few studies are available to associate vitamin D level and severity of Covid infection, Hence this study was undertaken  to find a relation of vitamin D levels and outcome of COVID-19. Methods: Study design is retrospective observational analytical case control. A study population  was hospital base cases and medical examination with clear definition of cases, medical examination, inclusion/ exclusion criteria, outcome and exposure. The Statistical analysis was done to  measure the  association  of outcome (the death or severe disease risk ) with exposure (low vitamin D) and that was determined by measuring  Odds ratio. Results: Most of the patients (45%) were in an age ranging from 40 to 59 years . Maximum number of the patients (68%) have one comorbidity. Diabetes mellitus and hypertension , both present in 28 % and other co morbidity in 40 % of patients and 32% of patient reported to have no comorbidities.  Present study reveals vitamin D deficiency in around for 74% of patients. Most of the patients were managed without supplementation of oxygen, but few needed high flow oxygen and even invasive ventilation. However prognosis was good. COVID-19 deaths occurred only in 2% of the cases.  All  dead patients and patients with a severe disease had vitamin D deficiency. This association of hypovitaminosis D was more significant than other co morbidities including hypertension and diabetes mellitus. Conclusions: Our study concluded that, two third of patients were having vitamin  D deficiency. Study clearly depicts severe vitamin D deficiency is associated with fatal cases,  therefore  vitamin D level can be used as a predictor of mortality.

The article deals with the problems of forensic medical expertise in traditional China in the investigation of crimes related to murder and death of people under unknown circumstances. The research featured legal acts and related comments that regulated the procedure. The author focused on the treatise of the XIII century Sung Tzu's "Washing Away of Wrongs" (Hsi yüan lu), which became the first essay on forensic medicine in world history. This document was far ahead of European works on this topic and was still in use in the early XX century. Constant conflicts between non-official comments and legal norms were one of the most serious problems that judicial practice had to face. For instance, according to the century-long shiht’u practice, specially authorized employees (wutso) with no medical training were responsible for describing internal and external injuries on the human body. Medical education was not mandatory for those performing forensic medical examination because autopsy was prohibited under the threat of punishment in the form of hard labor, and all conclusions about the causes of death were made on the basis of external examination. However, the main problem was the legal responsibility for the falsification of forensic medical examination. It often affected innocent people while real criminals managed to escape punishment, which violated the yin-yang harmony.
