Three new copper(II) complexes, [Cu(LH)2]Br2 (1), [Cu(LH)2]NCS2 (2), and [Cu(LH)2](NO3)2 (3), where LH is the zwitterionic form of 2-bromo-6-((2-(isopropylamino)ethylimino)methyl)phenol (HL), were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and UV-vis spectroscopy. The structures of the complexes were further confirmed by single crystal X-ray structure determination. All compounds are mononuclear copper(II) complexes. The Cu atoms in the complexes are coordinated by two imino N and two phenolate O atoms from two LH ligands, forming square planar coordination. The compounds were assayed for their antimicrobial activities.

Four new copper(II) complexes, [CuL1(μ1,1-N3)]n (1), [CuL1(μ1,3-NCS)]n (2), [Cu(HL2)2](SCN)2 (3) and [Cu(L2)2] (4), where L1 and L2 are 2-((2-(dimethylamino)ethylimino)methyl-4,6-difluorophenolate and 2,4-difluoro-6-((3-morpholinopropylimino) methyl)phenolate, respectively, and HL2 is 2-((2-(dimethylammonio)ethylimino)methyl-4,6-difluorophenolate, were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and UV-vis spectroscopy. The structures for the complexes were further confirmed by single crystal X-ray structure determination. Complexes 1 and 2 are polymeric copper(II) complexes, with the Cu atoms in square pyramidal coordination. Complexes 3 and 4 are mononuclear copper(II) complexes, with the Cu atoms in square planar coordination. The complexes were assayed for their antimicrobial properties.

The title complex was isolated as a red solid from the reaction of 4-(salicylaldiminato)antipyrine, HL, and cobalt (II) acetate in ethanol. The complex has been characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR, UV-Vis, and X-ray single crystal diffraction. Two crystallographically different cationic units, A and B, of the title complex are found. Both units are essentially isostructural; nevertheless, small differences exist between them. Both units contain four cobalt atoms arranged at the corners of distorted cubane-like core alternatively with phenoxy oxygen of the Schiff base. In both cases, one cobalt binds to three coordinated sites from the corresponding tridentate Schiff base ligand, and the fourth one was bonded by the acetate oxygen, and the fifth and the sixth donor sites come from the phenolate oxygen of another Schiff base ligand.

A mononuclear copper(II) complex, [CuL] (1), and a phenolato-bridged trinuclear zinc(II) complex, [Zn3Cl2L2(DMF)2] (2), where L is the deprotonated form of N,N’-bis(4-bromosalicylidene)propane-1,3-diamine (H2L), have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The Cu atom in complex 1 is in square planar coordination, while the terminal and central Zn atoms in complex 2 are in square pyramidal and octahedral coordination, respectively. The antibacterial activities of the complexes have been tested on the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, and the yeast Candida parapsilosis.

Diethyl 2,2´-thiocarbonyl-bis(azanediyl)dibenzoate was synthesized from the reaction of ethyl anthranilate with thiophosgene. Its treatment with sodium ethoxide in ethanol at room temperature gave ethyl 2-(4-oxo-2-thioxo-1,2-dihydroquinazolin-3(4H)-yl) benzoate, whereas in the presence of ethyl nitroacetate and under the same reaction conditions, the corresponding bis(quinazolin)disulfide was formed. Its structure was confirmed by IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy elemental analysis and single crystal X-ray structure determination.

The reaction of polyoxovanadate and metal-Schiff base complex resulted in the formation of a new organic-inorganic hybrid compounds with the formula Na2[Mn (Salen)(H2O)2]4[V10O28]·9H2O (1) (salen=N,N’-ethylene-bis (salicylideneiminate). Compound 1 have been structurally characterized by IR, UV-vis spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Crystal data for 1: Triclinic, P-1, a=14.1123(3)Å, b=13.9397(7) Å, c=14.2564(5)Å, α=65.4160(9)°, β=81.3920(6)°, γ=89.5740(7) °. Structural analyses revealed that compound 1 represent a rare example of isopolyoxovanadate based metal-Schiff-base complexes, moreover, this is the first POM based metal Schiff-base complex isolated in aqueous solution medium, which may also propose a green chemical way to the synthesis of POM based hybrid. Compare with isopolyoxovanadate precusor Na6 [V10O28], compound 1 exhibit higher antimicrobial activities against human cancer cell, the phenomenon can be explained by the synergetic effect between POM and Schiff-base complex.

Objective: The objective of this work to evaluate the antimicrobial activities of synthesized 22’dichlorohydrobenzoin (22’CD) a new organic crystal. Methods: 22’CD a new organic crystal was grown by vapor diffusion method. Single crystals of 22’CD have been subjected to X-ray diffraction analysis to estimate the lattice parameters and the space group. The molecular structure was confirmed using Fourier transform infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectral analyses. Optical behavior and thermal stability of the crystal were determined using UV-Vis spectroscopy and thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis curves. In the present study, antimicrobial activity of 22’CD was evaluated against Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis was evaluated by agar well diffusion method. Results: Antibacterial activity of 22’CD was analyzed with ciprofloxacin and miconazole standard and tested against E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella paratyphi, Klebsiella pneumonia’s, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus progenies, and B. subtilis. Conclusion: The 22’CD was found to be effective against E. coli and B. subtitles.

AbstractA new cadmium-organic network [Cd(L)(SO4)] (1) [L=1,3-di(4-imidazolyl)benzene] has been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray structure determination, IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and powder X-ray diffraction. The complex crystallizes in the orthorhombic system with space group Pnma and displays a binodal (3,5)-connected 2D network with (42.67.8)(42.6) topology. The fluorescence properties of complex 1 were investigated.

Bis(2,6-dimethoxyphenyl)nitramine (1) was found to be one of the products of the reaction of nitryl chloride, NO2Cl with 2,6-dimethoxyphenyl lithium. 1 was characterized through its NO2 vibrations in the IR spectrum, vas = 1540 cm-1 and vs = 1290 cm-1, and its identity was confirmed by its elemental analysis, 1H and 13C NMR data, and its mass spectrum. According to a single crystal X-ray structure determination, 1 is nearly planar about the central Ν—Ν bond; the Ν—Ν bond length is 136.3 pm. In addition, two further products of the reaction were also characterized, 1-chloro-2,6-dimethoxybenzene (2) and 2,4-dichloro-1,5-dimethoxybenzene (3).
