Choosing a career path is difficult for students, especially in their transition from senior high school to college. Students struggle to select the most viable program that suits their interests, skills, and passion. Hence, most students end up shifting among courses and, at worst, dropping out of their program. This qualitative study explores the reasons prospective teachers specialize in General Science in a teacher education program. The data were gathered through interviews and were treated through thematic analysis. Eight themes emerged including (1) alignment to chosen senior high school strand; (2) personal choice and interest; (3) passion for science; (4) personal knowledge and skills; (5) inspiration by teachers; (6) encouragement from family; (7) challenge to oneself; and (8) non-availability of a preferred course. The study has established important implications for admission policies in terms of the selection process for students enrolling in the General Science program. Higher education institutions (HEIs) should support the continuous improvement of the science education curriculum, campus and physical facilities, and student services, which are at the heart of education in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world.

Senior high school students need to select a specialization, such as Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, or Language and Culture. This selection process can be improved by using Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods. When MCDM methods are implemented, AHP method has accuracy of 61%, whereas AHP-Fuzzy TOPSIS 1 and AHP-Fuzzy TOPSIS 2 have accuracy of 75%. This research implements tests and analyzes new MCDM method, which is Hybrid MCDM Model, in helping aforementioned specialization selection process. There are four basic steps in Hybrid MCDM Model: performing experimental design to obtain attributes' weight and criteria, evaluating MCDM with the three existing methods, performing RSM regression to derive mathematical model, and decision making. This research introduces data normalization to the mathematical model which results in better implementation of Hybrid MCDM Model in the senior high school students' specialization selection process. Hybrid MCDM Model in the senior high school student specialization selection has accuracy of 86%, which includes 11% accuracy improvements compared to other applied MCDM methods.

Abstract The research problem was how to extent government policy about the integration of general science and religion at the Senior High School/ Islamic Senior High School. The objective of the research was to know the factor of the government policy about the integration of general science and religion, its background, destination, contents, implementation, obstacle and solution of government policy at the Senior High School/Islamic Senior High School, DKI Jakarta. The method of research used was documentation, history and triangulation methods. The finding of research was to integrate general science and religion at Senior High School/Islamic Senior High School, its limited the justification of Qur’an verses only, not to the real science of Islamization. The role of creativity in learning is more associated with problem-solving activities, meaning that creativity is measured through the ability of students to approach and solve problems. However, the PBL model has not been implemented optimally by the teacher, so that the problem solving ability and learning achievement of students have not been optimally stimulated. This research study is proposed to develop a model of Problem-Based Learning to stimulate the improvement of the skill of problem solving in physics learning for students of Senior High School. The development of Problem-Based Learning model for physics learning applied the ADDIE model. The form of observation sheets, questionnaires and question sheets were used as the instrument of data collection. The product was validated by the experts and tested on the eleventh grade students of SMA 9 Padang with a value of 3.85 very valid categories. The practicality of the learning model was determined by the implementation of learning, teacher’s response and students’ response with a value of 3.73 with category done. The effectiveness of the learning model was determined by student activities, problem solving skills and knowledge aspect. show that Asymp.C. 001 <0.05 means that Ho is rejected. The research has found a Problem-Based Learning model for physics learning which is abbreviated with the problem based learning model to physics learning (PBL-PL) . The findings indicated that the Problem-Based Learning model can stimulate the improvement of students' problem solving skills for Physics learning in Senior High School. For this reason, it is recommended for the teachers and prospective teachers to apply the Problem-Based Learning model for Physics learning in Senior High School.
