The article presents data on the experience of fear about the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), depending on the severity of personality basic beliefs. Authors interviewed 950 people aged 12 to 74 years (average age is 35 years). The study was conducted in March 2020 online. The intensity of fear about the coronavirus was studied using the COVID-19 fear scale developed by a team of scientists from Hong Kong, Iran, the United Kingdom and Sweden. The scale was tested for reliability and validity in the Iranian, Russian and Belarusian samples (Ahorsu D.K. et al., 2020; Reznik A. et al., 2020). The personality basic beliefs were diagnosed using the Scale of Basic Beliefs developed by R. Janoff-Bulman (translation and adaptation by O.A. Kravtsova) (Soldatova G.U. et al., 2008). Revealed that more than a third of the subjects have a high level of fear about the coronavirus. Showed that the low intensity of fear about the COVID-19 disease is associated with the severity of personality basic beliefs. Concluded that the personality basic beliefs in goodness and justice of the world around, the values and importance of own “Self” can act as psychological resources for coping a tough situation in life, the specificity of which is due to the fear about the coronavirus disease.

This paper aims to analyse if whether Gold (Gold Bullion: Zurich) and Silver (Silver Paris Spot E/KG) will be a safe haven for portfolio diversification in the financial markets of Germany (DAX 30), USA (DOW JONES), France (CAC 4 0), Italy (FTSE MID), United Kingdom (FTSE 100), Hong Kong (Hang Seng), China (SHANGHAI SE ASHARE), Japan (NIKKEI 225), in the period between 1 January 2019 to 2 September 2020. In order to perform this analysis where undertaken different approaches to analyse if: (i) the gold and silver market will be a safe haven when financial markets break down? (ii) If so, can market shocks question portfolio diversification? The results suggest 53 pairs of integrated markets (out of 90 possible). Gold and Silver have integrations with each other and with the USA, but the other financial markets integrate with Gold and Silver, namely the US, France, UK, Italy and Hong Kong markets (the latter only with Silver). The China market has a single integration but is integrated by the USA, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany, which partially rejects the first investigation question. In corroboration, causality tests show 67 causal relationships (out of 90 possible). The Markets of Italy (FTSE MID), the USA (DOW JONES) cause, in the Grangerian sense, all its peers (9 out of 9 possible), while France (CAC 40), the United Kingdom (FTSE 100), Japan (NIKKEI 225), and Germany (DAX 30) cause 8 out of 9. Silver and Gold cause the financial markets 7, and 6 times (out of 9 possible), respectively, while the Hong Kong (Hang Seng) and China (SHANGHAI) markets cause 3 and once, respectively, which validates the second investigation question. Given the high level of integration and shocks between markets, portfolio diversification may be brought into question. These findings also make room for market regulators to take steps to ensure better information among international financial markets.

The article is devoted to the analysis of scientific researches of the best universities in the world providing training in the field of education and their impact on the quality of education. The analysis is based on the results of the QS World University Rankings in Education, which identified the top ten universities in the world in 2019, which train specialists in education. In the article the general directions and topics of scientific researches, as well as specific ones, specific to each university are highlighted. The author reveals the peculiarities of the research work of the best universities in the world in the field of education and its relationship with the quality of education. Particular attention is paid to the criteria of quality (success) of the activities of universities, and research in particular. The article emphasizes that analyzing the educational research of the best universities in the world as a condition of ensuring the quality of education can be very useful for the development of education (and not just pedagogical) in Ukraine. It is noted that a high level of educational research will help Ukrainian education to achieve modern quality of study, to provide it on a research basis and to become practically oriented. The author defines the key characteristics of successful research universities, including the following: • availability of basic and applied research in contemporary areas and topics; • carrying out research work focused on the practical results of the research; • a wide range of disciplines included in the educational program in any specialty; • a high proportion of postgraduate research programs; • high level of external income of the university, which is ensured by the implementation of research results; • international recognition of research findings and prospects for their further development. According to the QS World University Rankings, the top ten universities in the world that provide training in education are: 1. University College London, (UCL), (United Kingdom); 2. Harvard University, (USA); 3. Stanford University (USA); 4. University of Oxford, (United Kingdom); 5. University of Cambridge, (United Kingdom); 6. University of Hong Kong, (Hong Kong); 7. University of Toronto, (Canada); 8. Berkeley University, California, (USA); 9. Columbia University, New York, (USA); 10.University of California (Los Angeles), USA By looking at research topics, you can distinguish topics that are most commonly found in universities. In this case, we are referring to non-standard general topics of pedagogical research such as: educational policy, organization and improvement of training, development of standards of teaching, didactics of learning, etc. They are present in the scientific research of the best universities, but the most important place is occupied by the research topics that characterize the current stage of development of education in the world, with all its features, influences and main trends. For example, almost all the best universities in the world are researching on human rights and equity in education. A striking example of such research can be the scientific theme of the Pedagogical Institute of Hong Kong University "Justice and Social Justice in Education". Another important theme that unites the best universities is the topic of developing critical thinking and developing critical media literacy skills for students and students. An example of such research is the Teachers' Training Program for Critical Media Literacy Skills in Students at the Teachers at the University of California, Los Angeles, USA.

there are, as it were, three levels in the title of the discussion, each going further ‘out’ from hong kong, although the direction and perspective could as easily have been reversed, moving ‘inwards’ from the world to china to hong kong, one of history's most successful social, cultural, political, and economic anomalies. there could equally easily have been four levels: hong kong, china, asia, and the world, a framework that would even then have been simpler than, say, ‘london, england, the united kingdom, the european union, europe at large, and the world’, but much the same as ‘lagos, nigeria, africa, and the world’ or ‘los angeles, california, the united states, and the world’.

There has been much scholarly work on the interface between science and religion in the United States and the United Kingdom, but little has been done to compare these to other countries and regions around the world. By studying what scientists think about religion in eight national and regional contexts—the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Turkey, India, Hong Kong, and Taiwan—the researchers provide a more global and nuanced view of science and religion around the world. The chapter previews the methodological scope of the research, findings from each national context, and the main claims of the book.

AbstractThe past few years have seen a number of “riots” – in Mexico City, Hong Kong, Chile, Ecuador, the United States, Argentina, France, the United Kingdom, and elsewhere. What do they have in common with one another and with other popular upheavals in history? How do they differ? What do they represent as sites of protest, resistance and rebellion? This forum explores the meaning of such riots through the meaning of the term itself, focusing mainly but not exclusively on the Global South, in theory and in the words and actions of rioters and the authorities who act to suppress them. If it is true the world has entered a “new age of riots,” citizens and scholars must begin to reach some conceptual clarity of what a global riot is, and seeks to become.

Public diplomacy of Great Britain is one of the most developed in the EU and in the world. The United Kingdom has developed an extremely efficient public diplomacy mechanism which includes BBC World Service (which due to its popularity boosts the reputation and the image of Great Britain), Chevening Scholarships (provides outstanding foreign students with opportunity to study in Great Britain and thus establishes long-lasting relations with public opinion leaders and foreign countries elite) and the British Council, which deals with international diplomatic ties in the field of culture. The British Council is a unique organization. Being technically independent, it actively and efficiently works on consolidating Great Britain’s interests in the world and contributes to the development of public diplomacy in Great Britain.   The author studies the efforts of the British Council as a unique public diplomacy tool of the United Kingdom. Special attention is paid to the role of British Council, which is independent of the governing board and at the same time finds itself under the influence of the latter due to the peculiarities of the appointment of Board’s officials, financing etc. The author concludes that the British Council is a unique organization established in 1934, which is a non-departmental state body, charitable organization and public corporation, technically independent of the government. The British Council, thanks to its commercial activities covers the lack of public funding caused by the policy of economy conducted by the government. It has good practices in this field worth paying attention by other countries. It is also worth mentioning that the increment in profit was getting higher last year, however the issue of increasing the influence of the government on the activities of British Council is still disputable. Although the Foreign Minister officially reports to the parliament on the activities of the British Council, approves the appointment of the leaders of organizations, the British Council preserves its independence of the government, which makes it more popular abroad, and makes positive influence on the world image of Great Britain. The efficiency of the British Council efforts on fulfillment of targets of the United Kingdom public diplomacy is unquestionable, no matter how it calls its activities: whether it is a cultural relations establishment or a cultural diplomacy implementation.
