Algorithm for estimating energy characteristics at the output of the correlator

For the operation of the channels for tracking the carrier (phase and frequency) and the envelope of the signal of the primary processing of the navigation equipment, it is necessary to evaluate, in one way or another, the energy parameters at the output of the correlator: the amplitude of the signal component and the dispersion at the output of the correlator. In practice, to estimate the amplitude of the signal component, either the real part or the modulus of the complex correlator is used over the entire grouping interval. These approaches have a number of disadvantages. To estimate the variance of the correlator output, it is necessary to select separate channels in which there is obviously no useful signal, which takes away some part of the hardware resources. The article proposes an algorithm for estimating the energy parameters at the output of the correlator only from the data of the corresponding channel without the formation of special correlators, which is operable in both coherent and incoherent modes and is based on the use of correlation integrals over short and full intervals. Modeling and analysis of the accuracy characteristics of the proposed algorithm is carried out.

Произведена оценка влияния флуктуационных стационарных мультипликативных помех, действующих одновременного с аддитивными помехами, на точность измерения неэнергетических параметров информационных сигналов. Показано, что мультипликативная помеха низкого уровня оказывает более сильное влияние на точность измерения времени прихода, чем на точность измерения частоты полезного сигнала. Осуществлена количественная оценка влияния мультипликативной помехи на точность измерения неэнергетических параметров полезного сигнала. The influence of fluctuating stationary multiplicative interference acting simultaneously with additive interference on the accuracy of measurement of non-energy parameters of information signals is estimated. It is shown that low-level multiplicative interference has a stronger effect on the accuracy of the arrival time measurement than on the accuracy of the useful signal frequency measurement. A quantitative assessment of the effect of multiplicative interference on the accuracy of measurement of non-energy parameters of the useful signal is carried out.

Наиболее опасными являются медленные мультипликативные помехи. Abstract The article represents the results of efficiency estimation for perspective observation facilities of near-Earth astronomy in terms of the AES (artificial Earth’s satellite) optical images obtaining and quality. A mathematical method for modeling optical images based on the induced virtual environment is proposed . A speckle interferometric image registration scheme and bispectral processing are reviewed. Upon modelling, the real speckle interferometric images of stars have been used as scattering functions; the AES orbits and geometry have been set in reliance on the real AES orbits and 3D-shapes. Additionally, photon and readout noises have been modelled. A large set of different variants of the AES orbits and 3D-shapes is reviewed.Anon-linear distortion problem is analyzed. The modelling has been performed under various atmosphere turbulence conditions (2”, 4”). The following characteristics have been estimated: number of frames to accumulate depending on the AES orbit and shape, noise intensity, type and parameters of bispectral processing, energy characteristics.

Problem statement. In measuring the spatial coordinates of sources of active interference, one of the main tasks is to identify their bearings. This problem belongs to the class of multi-alternative problems of statistical choice of hypotheses, the solution of which becomes much more complicated with an increase in the number of sources of active interference.Objective. Reduce the prior uncertainty in identifying bearings of active interference sources due to the use of differences in their energy characteristics at the stage of primary processing of interference signals, recalculated to the points of intersection of bearings.Results. The article discusses the processing features of bearing information in a two-position radar system. It is shown that in these systems, due to the absence of redundant information, the identification of bearings is a multi-alternative problem of statistical choice of hypotheses. The analysis of the matrix of coordinates of intersections of azimuthal bearings is carried out, a rule for identifying possible hypotheses of identification is formulated. It is proposed to use the energy differences of interference signals to reduce the prior uncertainty in identifying bearings. It is shown that a measure of this difference can be the value of the correlation integral, calculated at the stage of primary processing of interference signals.Practical implications. The principle of bearing identification considered in the article can be used to implement the identification of bearings from sources of active interference and other various radio emission objects, including space ones, when upgrading the mathematical and software systems for information processing.

This paper introduces a recent development and application of a noncommercial artificial neural network (ANN) simulator with graphical user interface (GUI) to assist in rapid data modeling and analysis in the engineering diffraction field. The real-time network training/simulation monitoring tool has been customized for the study of constitutive behavior of engineering materials, and it has improved data mining and forecasting capabilities of neural networks. This software has been used to train and simulate the finite element modeling (FEM) data for a fiber composite system, both forward and inverse. The forward neural network simulation precisely reduplicates FEM results several orders of magnitude faster than the slow original FEM. The inverse simulation is more challenging; yet, material parameters can be meaningfully determined with the aid of parameter sensitivity information. The simulator GUI also reveals that output node size for materials parameter and input normalization method for strain data are critical train conditions in inverse network. The successful use of ANN modeling and simulator GUI has been validated through engineering neutron diffraction experimental data by determining constitutive laws of the real fiber composite materials via a mathematically rigorous and physically meaningful parameter search process, once the networks are successfully trained from the FEM database.
