O presente trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar as expectativas e experiências dos estudantes em relação à disciplina O Estado e os problemas contemporâneos, do Curso de Especialização em Gestão Pública da Universidade Federal do Vale do São Francisco (Univasf). Para isso, foi realizada a aplicação do questionário de autoavaliação Colles (Constructivist Online Learning Environment Survey) verificando-se as possíveis mudanças na percepção e comparando-se os resultados do antes e do depois referente a seis dimensões: relevância, reflexão, interação, apoio dos tutores, apoio dos colegas e compreensão. Participaram da pesquisa 97 alunos, em dois momentos diferentes: no início das aulas, para conhecer as expectativas dos estudantes e no final delas, para se ter uma compreensão da realidade vivenciada. Os resultados revelaram que a análise da experiência sempre foi inferior quando comparada à análise da expectativa em todos os aspectos apresentados, evidenciando que alguns participantes sentenciaram não ter alcançado os objetivos pretendidos.Palavras-chave: Colles, Educação a distância, Avaliação, Pós-graduação, PNAP.  Social Constructivist Evaluation of an Experience in Distance Education: the use of Colles as Data Collection InstrumentAbstract This study aims to evaluate the students expectations and experiences regarding the subject "The State and the contemporary problems", in Public Management post-graduation from the Federal University of São Francisco Valley (UNIVASF). For this, the application carried out the self-assessment questionnaire COLLES (Constructivist On-line Learning Environment Survey) checking for possible changes in perception and comparing the results before and after referring to the six dimensions: relevance, reflection, interaction, support tutors, peer support and understanding. The participants were 97 students in two different times at the beginning of classes, to meet the expectations of students and at the end of these, to have an understanding of experienced reality. The results showed that the students' experience overcame the negative assessment in all aspects presented, showing that some participants sentenced not have achieved the intended objectives.Keywords: COLLES, Distance education, Evaluation, Postgraduate studies, PNAP.

New behavior in using pedagogy and supporting technology is needed to drive the learning process. To facilitate the use of services for selected activities to participants in distance education, a web site named UniFlex (University Flexible learning) has been developed and brought into use. The site is a comprehensive set of bookmarks including course taking, upload/download, and - of special significance - collaborative on-line project work. UniFlex has been developed to meet the requirement for a simple and cheap personalized interactive site, supporting problem oriented and project organized study form, which has characterized Aalborg University for more than 27 years.</p>

Self assessment as a predictor of perceived simulated managerial ability as measured by an assessment centre. The purpose of this study was to establish how accurately a person could assess his own managerial ability. With this in mind, a self-assessment questionnaire was developed. The questionnaire was completed by the participants both before and after participation in an assessment centre. It measured, per managerial dimension, the judgment of the participant that his managerial ability complies with that of a senior departmental manager in the organisation. The before-centre self-assessment scores correlate meaningfully with the after-centre self assessment scores. The selfassessment scores are, however, a poor predictor of the observed simulated managerial ability. Opsomming Die doel met hierdie studie was om te bepaal in watter mate 'n persoon sy bestuursvermoë korrek kan beoordeel. Met die oog hierop is 'n selfbeoordelingsvraelys ontwerp, wat voor sowel as direk na afloop van deelname aan 'n takseersentrum deur die deelnemers voltooi is. Die vraelys het/ per bestuursdimensie, die mate waarin 'n deelnemer van mening is dat sy bestuursvermoë voldoen aan die van 'n senior afdelingsbestuurder in die organisasie, gemeet. Die voor-sentrum selfbeoordelingtellings en die na-sentrum selfbeoordeling-tellings korreleer betekenisvol. Die voorsentrum selfbeoordelingtellings is egter 'n swak voorspeller van die waargenome gesimuleerde bestuursvermoë.

The use of antibiotics in implant treatments is controversial. The purpose of this research was to study the behaviors of Santo Domingo dentists who prescribe antimicrobials to patients for the placement of dental implants. A total of 99 dentists participated in the study. A share of 1.2% of dentists prescribed antimicrobials solely in the preoperative period, 8.6% after surgery, 44.4% before and after, 19.8% only in specific situations, and 25.9% did not prescribe at all. Amoxicillin was the predominant antimicrobial of choice. A cross-sectional, observational, survey-based study was conducted. The items studied were demographics, self-assessment of knowledge about antibiotics and when they are used, as well as their recommended dosage and duration, in healthy and non-allergic patients. Notable variability was found in the prescription behaviors of antimicrobials. Bridging gaps in knowledge on the subject could help to standardize prescription guidelines.

The authors developed a validated office ergonomics checklist that focused on outcomes instead of workstation features. The workstation is evaluated primarily through observed working postures and movement patterns while the subject performs their usual tasks. A guidebook for the improvement of computer workstations is keyed to the checklist, to lead the user in reducing risk factors and improving workstation ergonomics. The checklist was first validated in a field test with three expert evaluators. The checklist and guidebook were later tested with a large employer and used as a self-evaluation instrument, by a co-worker, and by an Ergonomics Coordinator with training and experience. Workstations were evaluated by an independent ergonomist before and after interventions were made. Results indicated that the checklist and guidebook were effective in making significant improvements in workstation conditions when administered by an Ergonomics Coordinator, but not when used as a self-assessment or by an untrained co-worker.

A number of studies have examined the dynamics and style of communication adopted in computer conferencing in distance education (Mason, 1993). Computer conferencing by higher education institutions offering distance education courses has expanded rapidly since 1987. Lately computer conferencing has developed in fame as a vehicle of distance education. While protecting the opportunity related with asynchronous communication and giving wide access to low-end innovation users, computer conferencing enables students and instructors to take part in group learning and associate 'many-to-many' (Harasim, 1989). Much has already been written on the subject of computer conferencing in support of educational processes, in particular distance education (DE). Using unstructured interviews and observations at adult students' homes or worksites, the study investigated adult student perspectives of distance study by computer conferencing. The focal finding of this investigation was that computer conferencing can bolster a scope of learning situations, from teacher-led symposium to symposium to a student-centered community workshop. In addition, adults actively engaged in social relationships outside their distance studies which sustain their educational pursuits. The students provided insights into aspects of the on‐line environment: as synchronicity, interactivity, textual communications, and collaboration.
