RESUMO: Reflexão sobre o processo de adaptação de obras da literatura, transmutadas para a linguagem cinematográfica. O objetivo é a análise do trânsito entre os textos: Estação Carandiru (EC), livro de Drauzio Varella e o filme Carandiru, de Hector Babenco. Analisaremos o deslocamento do signo verbal ao visual a partir dos pressupostos de Andrew, Bazin, Gardies, Genette e Stam. Em diálogo com as principais teorias do cinema, adaptação concebida, então, como recriação, porquanto mudança de veículos artísticos exigirá processo de transformação pertinente. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: literatura, cinema, adaptação, linguagem. ABSTRACT:Thisarticleisareflectionontheprocessoftheadaptation of literary works by their transmutation into cinematic language. It intends to analyze the transit between two texts: Drauzio Varella’s book Estação Carandiru (EC) and Hector Babenco’s film Carandiru. The displacement from the verbal to the visual sign will be analyzed by way of the theories of Andrew, Bazin, Gardies, Genette and Stam. Following the main theories on cinema, adaptation is conceived as re-creation, since a change in artistic vehicles requires a pertinent transformation process. Karya sastra (naskah drama) yang ditransformasi ke film sudah tidak asing lagi bagi penontonnya. Film pada sat ditayangkan maka baik penulis karya sastra yang ditransformasi maupun pembacanya akan menemui banyak perbedaan. Perbedaan tersebut juga ditemukan dalam transformasi naskah Macbeth karya William Shakespeare ke film Throne of Blood atau Kumonosu-Jo karya Akira Kurosawa yang menjadi objek material penelitian ini. Kreativitas film terhadap karya sastra aslinya disebabkan adanya perbedaan yang mendasar antara karya sastra dan film, yakni medium. Karya sastra dalam hal ini menggunakan medium bahasa, sedangkan film menggunakan medium gambar dan suara. Terdapat suatu peristiwa tertentu yang dapat dimunculkan dengan baik pada karya sastra, tetapi tidak dapat dimunculkan dalam film, atau sebaliknya. Penelitian ini membatasi pada perbedaan kernel dan satelit film terhadap karya sastra aslinya sehingga terlihat perbedaan alur film terhadap karya sastra aslinya. Perubahan fungsi yang menyebabkan perbedaan alur tersebut dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori intertekstual. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jumlah kernel dan satelit film lebih sedikit dibandingkan film karena tuntutan durasi. Film banyak memberikan variasi setting waktu dan tempat ataupun perubahan berupa penambahan tokoh dan alur sekaligus mengadakan penghilangan tokoh ataupun alur yang tidak memberikan peran penting dalam perkembangan penceritaan. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan adanya perubahan fungsi yang menghasilkan perbedaan alur antara karya sastra dan film. The Text of the Play Macbeth Transformation (1603-1607) by William Shakespeare into Film Throne of Blood or Kumonosu-Jo (1957) by Akira Kuroswa. Transformation from play to film is one of the common literary works. The writer of the play and the readers of the literary, however, face many differences in the film as the result of transformation process. These differences are also found at both; a play Macbeth by William Shakespeare while the film Throne of Blood by Akira Kurosawa. These two literary works are the object of material in this research. The basic differences between a play and film are that each has its own medium. The medium of film is pictures and music’s. Meanwhile, the medium of novel is language. Thus, there could be a certain plot appeared in film but not in novel or vice versa. Furthermore; this research is merely limited on the differences of kernel and satellite between play and film. Eventually, the various changes of the function lead to the differences in plot. These changes of the function lead to the differences are analyzed by making use of intertextuality theory. The result of this research indicates that the number of kernel and satellite of film is fewer than the one of literary. It happens because of the limited duration of the time. Eventually, there are many variations of setting of time, of place, and of participants. Next, the final result of this research is that there are several changes of function which lead to the differences both in literary and film.

Literary debates on Central Europe often concern the problems of the democratic breakthrough in the former Eastern bloc. Central Europe is also a common cultural and literary heritage; however, it must be shown how literary visions resonated in specific discussions and literary works in various countries before and after the democratic transformation of 1989/1990. Revolutionary events in Poland resulted in the “Autumn of Nations”, and the expectations of readers and critics for a suitable novel about the breakthrough and transformation process were high.

The structural changes during reversible martensitic transformation of near-equiatomic NiTi alloys can best be studied in TEM at around room temperature. Ternary additions like Mn offer this possibility by suppressing the Ms temperature below RT. Besides the stable intermetallic phases (Ti2Ni, TiNi, TiNi3) several metastable phases with various crystallographic structures (rhombohedral, hexagonal, monoclinic, cubic) have also been reported to precipitate due to suitable annealing procedures.TiNi:Mn samples with 0.9 and 1.3 at% Mn were arc melted in argon atmosphere and homogenized at 948 °C for 72 hours in high vacuum in an infrared furnace. After spark cutting slices of 0.2 mm, TEM specimens were prepared by electrochemical polishing with the twin-jet technique in methanol - perchloric acid electrolyte. The TEM study was carried out in a JEOL 200 CX analytical electron microscope.In this paper a new intermetallic phase is reported which has been observed in both samples by TEM during the martensitic transformation process.

Members of the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation have committed themselves to measure and improve safety culture within their organizations by 2013 ( CANSO, 2010 ). This paper attempts to offer support to air navigation service providers that have already implemented a standardized safety culture survey approach, in the process of transforming their safety culture based on existing survey results. First, an overview of the state of the art with respect to safety culture is presented. Then the application of the CANSO safety culture model from theory into practice is demonstrated based on four selected case studies. Finally, a summary of practical examples for driving safety culture change is provided, and critical success factors supporting the safety culture transformation process are discussed.

With a rich, productive career spanning over 60 years, culminating in the award of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1988, Naguib Mahfouz's literary works have naturally attracted numerous studies and critiques. These studies have covered a great many aspects of Mahfouz's creative writing, but, perhaps because of the secular, modern education Mahfouz received (both at school and in the Department of Philosophy in Cairo University), and his personal lifestyle, they have concentrated on the socialist, materialist, and structural aspects of his work. Perhaps because of this, one important aspect of his writing has largely escaped attention: his artistic use of the language of the Qur'an. Mahfouz does not signal that a given phrase or reference is Qur'anic, leaving it to blend with the text, and making it easy to miss the fact that the Qur'an played any part in Mahfouz's use of language. However, to a reader who knows the Qur'an by heart the presence of Qur'anic language in his works is obvious, and equally obvious is Mahfouz's artistic talent in using it. Eventually, he himself announced at the end of his life that he had always had an intimate interest in the Qur'an, read it daily, and benefited from it. This article seeks to demonstrate the ubiquitous presence of Qur'anic language in Mahfouz's works, and the skill and subtlety with which he used it.

Tony Richardson's major contribution to British and international cinema has been obscured by jejune prejudices over his small-town, north of England origins, his parallel career as a theatre director and his eclectic choice of film subjects. This article concentrates on his two most important contributions to the ‘British New Wave’ – A Taste of Honey and The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner – in order to demonstrate Richardson's ability to recreate dramatic and literary works as dynamic and innovative films.
