Effect of integrated nutrient management on growth, yield and nutrient uptake of clusterbean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba) under irrigated conditions

A field experiment was conducted during <italic>kharif</italic> season of 2014 to study the effect of integrated nutrient management on growth, yield and nutrient uptake of clusterbean <italic>(Cyamopsis tetragonoloba).</italic> Significant improvement in growth, yield and nutrient uptake was recorded with sole and integrated application of nutrients through chemical fertilizers and biofertilizers. The results showed that application of 50, 75 and 100 % of recommended dose of fertilizer (20 kg N, 40 kg P<sub>2</sub>O<sub>5</sub> /ha) was 21.2, 45.7 and 50.8 % over the control respectively. Association between <italic>Rhizobium</italic> and phosphate solublising bacteria was synergistic and inoculation of both fertilizers significantly improved the seed yield. Inoculation of <italic>Rhizobium</italic>, phosphate solublising bacteria and <italic>Rhizobium +</italic> phosphate solublising bacteria recorded 21.1, 14.1 and 24.7 % higher seed yield than the control respectively. However, the combination of both inoculants further failed to significantly increase the seed and straw yield of clusterbean further.

A field experiment was carried out at Spices Research Centre, Shibgonj, Bogra during two consecutive years, 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 to evaluate the response of integrated nutrient management on nutrient uptake, protein content and seed yield of fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) var. BARI Fenugreek-2. The field experiment was conducted in combination with inorganic fertilizer and organic manure. The result showed that the treatment T7 compeises application of PM @ 4 t ha-1 + CF (IPNS) produced the maximum seed yield (2.1 t ha-1) but statistically identical to T8 (VC @ 3 t ha-1 + CF (IPNS) and T6 (CD 5 @ ha-1 + CF (IPNS). In case of stover yield, the treatment T7 produced the highest yield (4.89 t ha-1). The grain yield was increased over control and ranged between 65.85 to 156.10 %.The treatments T7 and T8 resulted in higher nutrient use efficiency along with higher N, P, K and S uptake by the plant. The application of inorganic fertilizer along with manure influenced the nutrient concentration in fenugreek seed and stover yield. The higher seed with N, P, K and S concentrations were observed in the treatments where poultry manure @ 4 t ha-1 applied in combination with chemical fertilizers. The combined application of fertilizer and organic manure increased the organic carbon (OC %), organic matter (OM %), total N, available P and available S in post harvest soils. The findings indicate that the integrated use of inorganic fertilizer and organic manure should be encouraged to improvement the deteriorating soil fertility and increased crop yield of fenugreek.SAARC J. A field experiment was conducted at Char Jangalia under MLT site, Laxmipur, a coastal district of southern Bangladesh, during Rabi season of 2015-16 to evaluate the effect of integrated nutrient management on growth and yield performance of soybean (var. Glycine max L.). Six treatment combinations, viz. T1= Control, T2= Farmers practice (25-15 Kg NP ha-1, T3= 100% recommended dose (30-25-55 Kg NP ha-1, K), T4= 50 % recommended dose + 1.5 t ha-1 vermi compost, T5= 50 % recommended dose + 5 t ha-1compost and T6=50 % recommended dose + 1.2 kg ha-1 bio fertilizer were tested. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with 3 replications. There were significant differences among the different treatment combinations in terms of yield and yield contributing characters. Integrated nutrient management with application of 50% of the recommended doses of urea, TSP, MoP, and biofertilizer (Bradyrhizobium) at the rate of 1.2 kg ha-1 significantly increased most of the parameters, such as the plant height, number of nodule per plant, pods per plant, seeds per pod and seed yield. The highest seed yield (2.93 t ha-1) was recorded from T6 while the lowest seed yield (1.83 t ha-1) was obtained from T1. The highest gross return (Tk.117200 ha-1) and gross margin (Tk. 71840 ha-1) was obtained from T6, whereas the lowest gross return (Tk. 70400 ha-1) and gross margin (Tk.27880 ha-1) was obtained from T1. The overall results indicated that the application of integrated nutrient management of a combination of bio fertilizer with 50% N-P-K (15- 12.5-27.5 Kg ha-1) of the recommended dose produced the maximum nodulation and seed yield of soybean in the southern coastal char land.Bangladesh Agron. A field experiment was conducted during rabi (winter) seasons of 2007-08 and 2008-09 to study the effect of integrated nutrient management on growth, yield, oil content and nutrient uptake of yellow sarson (Brassica cam-pestris L var. yellow sarson) in older alluvial soil of West Bengal. Significantly higher leaf area index (1.75 at 40 days after sowing; DAS), dry matter accumulation (1366.9 g/m2 at 80 DAS) and highest number of siliquae/plant (118.3), number of seeds/siliqua (21.8), seed yield (1.90 t/ha), stover yield (3.86 t/ha) were recorded significantly (at 5% lev-el) higher with poultry manure (PM) @2.5t/ha +50%RDF (Recommended Dose of Fertilizer i.e. 80-40-40 of N-P2O5-K2O kg/ha) + PSB (phosphate solubilising bacteria) + AZ (Azotobacter) during both the years and on pooled basis. An average of 30.5% and 233% increase in seed yield by this treatment was recorded over sole application of RDF and control respectively. Integrated application of PM (2.5 t/ha) + 50% RDF + PSB + AZ recorded highest oil content (43.16%) and positive effect on soil fertility status. The highest benefit: cost ratios (2.26 and 2.4 in 2007-'08 and 2008-'09 respectively) were achieved from the use of 50% RDF + PM (2.5 t/ha) +PSB+AZ.

The present study “Relative changes in Boron fractions in black gram rhizosphere” was contemplated with two objectives: 1) To find out the suitable source, dose and method of boron for black gram and 2) To study the changes in relative boron fractionation under black gram rhizosphere. To achieve the present objectives a field experiment was conducted with Greek gram var. IPU2-43 in factorial randomized block design with three sources, four doses and two methods of application of boron replicated thrice at Bihar Agricultural College Farm of BAU, Sabour during the year 2018-19. Three sources were: S1: Borax, S2: Solubor and S3: Boric acid; Doses: D1: 0.5 kg ha-1, D2: 1.0 kg ha-1, D3: 1.5 kg ha-1, D4: 2.0 kg ha-1and methods: Soil and foliar application. Based on the findings of field experiment it can be concluded that the application of 1.5 kg B ha-1 (D3) registered maximum seed yield of (8.27 q ha-1), straw yield of (10.04 q ha-1), nutrient uptake by grain (12.64 g ha-1) and nutrient uptake by straw (16.95 g ha-1) which was statistically at par with the application of 2.0 kg B ha-1 (D4) and was found to be statistically superior over rest of the doses. Among the sources, the maximum seed yield (7.96 q ha-1), straw yield (9.53 qha-1), nutrient uptake by grain (12.42 gha-1) and nutrient uptake by straw (16.36 gha-1)was found to be highest under the plots receiving 1.5 kg B ha-1 through foliar application of Solubor (S2) and the lowest grain yield (7.88 qha-1), straw yield (9.36 q ha-1),nutrient uptake by grain (11.85 gha-1) and nutrient uptake by straw (15.60 gha-1)was recorded from 0.5 kg B ha-1(D1) which was found statistical inferior over rest of the boron doses. Foliar application resulted in a better yield of straw as compared to soil application.

The field experiment was conducted at Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, OUAT, Bhubaneswar during summer 2014 to find out appropriate hybrids and nutrient management practices for summer sunflower. Application of recommended dose of Fertiliser(RDF) i.e. 60-80- 60 kg N, P2O5-K2O ha -1 + ZnSO4 @ 25 kg ha -1 recorded the maximum capitulum diameter (15.60cm), seed yield (2.17 t ha -1 ), stover yield (4.88 t ha -1 ) and oil yield (0.91 t ha -1 ), while application of RDF + Boron@ 1 kg ha-1 recorded the highest number of total seed (970) and filled seed per capitulum (890) with the lowest unfilled seed (80) and sterility percentage (9.0%). The hybrid ‘Super-48’ recorded the highest seed and oil yield of 2.17 and 0.91 t ha -1 , respectively, at recommended dose of fertiliser + ZnSO4 @ 25 kg ha -1 . Experiment was conducted in evaluating the new hybrids in addition to evaluate the response of variety to different nutrient management practices.

In absence of suitable cropping systems in terai, seed yield of mustard is decreasing. Farmers are growing mustard crop under energy starved condition and these are main reasons for low productivity of mustard. With a view to address these issues, an experiment on sustainability of productivity in rice-mustard sequential cropping system through integrated nutrient management for terai condition of Nepal was carried at Nawalpur, Sarlahi during 2004 – 2006. The result revealed that rice grown with 100% recommended dose of fertilizer and 10 tons compost /ha produced a maximum mean grain yield of 4371 kg/ha and straw yield of 5045.5 kg/ha which might be due to maximum dry matter accumulation. Likewise, it was exhibited that application of recommended dose of fertilizer with 10 t compost on preceding rice resulted in maximum seed yield of mustard (1259 kg/ha). The finding also showed that mustard grown with recommended dose of fertilizer produced a maximum mean seed yield of 1384 kg/ha. There was a positive effect of these treatments on seed yield attributes and seed yield of succeeding mustard. Economic analysis for the effects of treatments resulted a maximum benefit cost (BC) ratio of 2.0 which was obtained for mustard when grown after recommended dose of fertilizer. An encouraging BC ratio of 3.45 was found when mustard was taken with 100% recommended dose of fertilize (RDF). An investigation was carried out during rabi season of 2013-14 at vegetable farm, College of Horticulture, Mandsaur (Gwalior) to study the effect of integrated nutrient management on growth, yield parameters and yield in French bean. The treatments comprised six nutrient levels N1, N2, N3, N4, N5 and N6 and three varieties viz., Arka Komal (V1), Contender (V2) and Swarna Priya (V3). It was noticed that application of nutrient levels and varieties had significant influence on growth, yield and yield parameters. Nutrient level N4 [Vermicompost (10t/ha) + N (50kg/ha) + Rhizobium (15g/kg seed) + PSB (15g/kg seed) + P2O5 (80kg/ha) + K2O (80kg/ha)] recorded the maximum plant height (57.92cm), fresh weight of shoot (43.70g), dry weight of shoot (11.33g), number of pod per plant (31.81), pod length (15.55cm), shelling percent (76.87%), harvest index (26.82%), seed yield per plant (17.35g) and seed yield per hectare (25.22q). The maximum days for 50 per cent flowering were taken with the application of N6 nutrient level which was significantly higher over other nutrient levels. Among the varieties Swarna Priya (V3) recorded the highest growth, yield parameters and yield in French bean. Earliest 50% flowering was recorded in variety Contender followed by Arka Komal.
