<p>The Near Field Communication (NFC) mobile payment is the integration of NFC enabled smartphones and credit/debit/prepaid cards. Korea is a pioneer in rolling out the NFC mobile payment. Global mobile industries pay attention to whether Korean mobile users accept the new payment service. This study investigates the factors for technology acceptance using an integrated model of technology readiness and technology acceptance. Structured equation modeling is used to analyze the collected data. The four constructs of technology readiness (innovativeness, optimism, discomfort, and insecurity) have significant impact on the perceived ease of use and the two technological characteristics of NFC mobile payment (responsiveness and smartness) also have significant impacts on the perceived usefulness. However, only the perceived usefulness affects significantly on the intention to use. The perceived ease of use affects indirectly on the intention to use through the perceived usefulness. The result of this study suggests that to be a successful payment service, the NFC mobile payment service has to be much more focused on the usefulness against other alternative payment methods.</p>

Smart home services (SHSs) afford users an effective lifestyle management system, which provides human-oriented networking of smart devices and applications that enable users to control their homes from anywhere at any time. Despite the benefits of SHSs, however, their acceptance is very low. There remains a gap in the literature in terms of a comprehensive model that addresses users’ intention to use SHSs. To address this gap, the present study explored the factors that influence SHS acceptance among users based on well-established theoretical frameworks, such as the technology acceptance model, innovation diffusion theory, and the theory of planned behavior. To this end, the study integrated four additional factors, namely, perceived convenience, perceived connectedness, perceived cost, and perceived privacy risk, into the exploration and carried out structural equation modeling to quantitatively determine the effects of these factors. Questionnaires were administered to 750 users. The findings indicated that perceived compatibility, perceived convenience, perceived connectedness, perceived cost, perceived behavioral control with perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use directly and indirectly exerted a significant influence on users’ intention to use SHSs.

Near Field Communication (NFC) mobile payment systems allow users to utilize services through smartphones. There is insufficient literature exploring the adoption of NFC with payment scenarios in developing countries. This study aims to explore the influential factors of consumer adoption of NFC, taking payment behaviors through NFC in Indonesia as an example. One hundred forty-seven participants were enrolled in the 5-point Likert scale survey, and 124 valid samples were analyzed with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that trust mediates the effect of context on consumers' continuous intention to use NFC mobile payment. Additionally, trust mediates the effect of perceived risk on consumers' continuous intention to use. The perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness have no effects on consumers' continuous intention to use. The mediating effect of religiosity has not been observed in this study. The findings can enbale service providers and local governments to offer better mobile payment services.

This study examines the factors influencing the choices of Internet platform services by applying the technology acceptance model. For this purpose, the analysis is conducted with 222 people who use different types of Internet platforms by utilizing structural equation modeling. The results show that perceived usefulness had positive effects on the intention to use, perceived ease of use, diversity, and security risks affected by the perceived usefulness, and the indirect influences on the intention to use. In addition, satisfaction (in relation to service quality) was found to affect both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. This research is significant because it will make it possible to predict users’ perceptions of Internet platforms, which is important for establishing relevant strategies.

Abstrak : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan bukti empiris tentang pengaruh sistem pembelajaran berbasis  edmodo terhadap motivasi dan  hasil belajar peserta didik di SMK Negeri 4 Bandung dengan menggunakan TAM (Technologi Acceptance Model).  Penggunaan model TAM didasarkan pada kenyataan bahwa sejauh ini TAM merupakan sebuah konsep yang dianggap paling baik dalam menjelaskan perilaku pengguna terhadap sistem teknologi informasi baru. Penelitian ini berjudul “Analisis Penerimaan Sistem Pembelajaran Berbasis Edmodo Bagi Peserta Didik Dengan Menggunakan Technology Acceptance Model  (Study Kasus  Pada SMKN  4 Bandung)”. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa SMK Negeri 4 Bandung kelas XI dan XII rumpun Teknik Informatika. Metode sampling yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah purposive sampling, yang mengambil metode pengambilan sampel dengan didasarkan pada kriteria tertentu. Kriteria sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa yang aktif pada semester ganjil tahun pembelajaran 2015/2016. Analisis multivariat yang dilakukan menggunakan Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) dengan software AMOS (Analysis Of Moment Structure), Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan hanya 5 hipotesis diterima dari total 9 hipotesis yang diajukan. Hanya pada hubungan berikut yang terbukti mempunyai pengaruh positif : a)  Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) terhadap  Perceived Usefulness (PU),  b) Attitude Toward Using ( ATU) terhadap  Perceived Enjoyment (PE),c) Attitude Toward Using (ATU) terhadap Perceived Usefulness (PU),d) Attitude Toward Using (ATU) terhadap  Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) e) Attitude Toward Using ( ATU) terhadap   Behavioral Intention to Use (BITU), f) Actual Usage (AU)  terhadap  Behavioral Intention to Use (BITU). Hal ini membuktikan bahwa penggunaan sistem pembelajaran berbasis aplikasi edmodo tidak sepenuhnya dapat dijelaskan oleh Technologi Acceptance Model.

The fourth industrial revolution has produced new information technology (IT) that is widely used in the healthcare industry. Although the nature of the institution affects IT adoption, the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), a dominant theory, has dismissed its role and influence. Our research investigates how institutions influence the adoption of new IT by using the Institution-based Technology Acceptance Model (ITAM). We conducted an empirical test by using survey data collected from 300 employees in the public sector. Structural equation modeling was applied to test the proposed hypotheses. The results showed the total effect of institutions on the intention to use new IT is positive and significant. Second, IT adoption is not only affected by external institutions but also by type of institution; the external institution takes a greater role in inducing perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and intention to use than does the internal. Third, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness play mediating roles between institution and IT adoption. Fourth, an alternative expanded model to which more individual and organizational factors were added confirmed the results of the base model. We concluded that institutions have a strong impact on the level of intention for IT use through perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness.

Abstract Background Acceptance of Electronic patient portal (EPP) is instrumental for its success. Studies on users’ acceptance in the Middle East region are scarce. This study aims to explore factors influencing users’ acceptance of EPP, both patients and providers, at a tertiary care center in Lebanon using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). We concurrently test the internal construct validity and the reliability of the TAM. Methods A cross-sectional survey design and the vignette approach were used. For validation, we needed a minimum of 180 patients; all 35 attending physicians and 11 registered nurses were targeted. We used descriptive statistics to calculate the intention to use EPP and its determinants based on the TAM constructs. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM) were employed to estimate significant path coefficients for patients only as the sample size of providers was too small. Results We had 199 patients, half intended to use EPP; 73% of providers (N=17) intended to use EPP. Perceived ease of use and privacy concerns were significantly higher among providers than patients (Mean (M) = 0.77 vs M= 0.42 (CI: -0.623 ; -0.081)) and (M=3.67 vs M=2.13, CI: -2.16; -0.91) respectively; other constructs were not significantly different. Reliability of TAM revealed a Cronbach Alpha of α=.91. EFA showed that three components explained 73.48% of the variance: Behavioral Intention of Use (14.9%), Perceived Ease of Use (50.74%), Perceived Usefulness (7.84%). SEM found that perceived ease of use increased perceived usefulness (standardized regression weight=0.49); perceived usefulness (0.51) had more predictive value than perceived ease of use (0.27) to explain the behavioral intention of use of the EPP. Conclusions We found that providers valued the usefulness of EPP and were mostly intending to use it. This finding has yet to be tested in future studies testing actual use as intention and actual use may not be concordant. The intention to use among patients was lower than those reported in developed countries. We identified two factors that we need to address to increase use, namely perceived ease and usefulness, and proposed practical implications to address them; future research directions were also discussed.

Based on an extended version of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), this study aims to understand the intention to use tourism mobile applications. WOM about app and personal innovativeness was added to the original model along with perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and attitude. A questionnaire was distributed through the convenience sampling method and 440 valid respondents were retained and analysed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results of this study show that WOM about app represents the strongest predictor of the intention to use of tourism mobile applications followed respectively by perceived usefulness, attitude toward using tourism mobile applications and personal innovativeness. The findings provide implications that would benefit managers in the hospitality and tourism sector as well as mobile app developers in order to ensure the effectiveness of their marketing and communication strategies and adapt their activities to the needs of a customer of the digital age.

Abstract Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is common to hear news of older adults being socially isolated due to difficulties in purchasing or accessing online services and in interacting with family or friends through video calling apps. Despite an increasing ease of access to digital devices, such access far from universal. Thus, digital inequality has become a serious problem for older adults. To understand why digital inequality issues are so relevant for older adults, we must understand older adults' entire life contexts and the potential of digital technologies in their lives. With these understandings, the purpose of this study was to explore the technology acceptance process and identify key precursors to acceptance of digital technology using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) 3 as a framework. This study used data from the 2018 Digital Divide Survey of the Ministry of Science and ICT. A total of 1,662 older adults (aged 55+) were analyzed using structural equation modeling with bootstrap sampling. Model fit indices (CFI = .928; SRMR = .074; RMSEA = .044) suggested an acceptable fit. Results indicated that two environmental dimensions, personal environment (self-efficacy and value recognition) and social environment (social norms and social support systems), had a significant impact on the intention to use technology both directly and indirectly. Furthermore, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use mediated between environmental domains and the intention. This study indicates that providing appropriate digital support for older adults is important to achieve greater digital inclusion.

The importance of using Google Translate (GT) has become dominantly more effective. Most researchers, professors, and students rely on its translation as an immediate source of getting the information in different countries all over the world. However, the academic literature fails to acknowledge what factors could contribute to the user's intention to use GT, and consequently fail to discover the effects of using GT. The purpose of this study is to explore GT acceptance in UAE. It is assumed that users' attitude towards GT may vary based on the language used. The variations in languages are unidirectional from the source language (SL) to the target language (TL) and vice versa. The suggested analytical framework is based on an extended TAM model that is proposed by [1]. A quantitative methodology approach was adopted in this study. The hypothesized model is validated empirically using the responses received from a survey of 368 respondents were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM-PLS). Results indicated that Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Usefulness, and Motivation have a significant impact on Behavioral Intention to use GT. In addition, Perceived Usefulness and Motivation significantly influenced Perceived Ease of Use. Furthermore, Perceived Usefulness is in turn influenced by Experience. The findings provide significant theoretical and practical implications for translation researchers, teachers, and MT system developers.
