This paper describes a case to illustrate analysis and design issues involving a multi-tier e-commerce system. The case is designed for use in accounting systems and systems analysis and design courses. The case involves analysis of a sales order system that will be implemented using a web interface and relational database, conceptual design of the system, and implementation of the system. A variety of tasks are involved in the case, but an instructor can select the tasks of relevance in a particular course. Detailed teaching notes are provided with examples of primary deliverables and guidance on implementing the system using open source software.

Kata kunci: Reliability Centered Maintenance, Free Open Source Software, Sistem Pendingin Primer , Web based System

This chapter presents the architecture of Web-based intelligent English instruction system CSIEC (Computer Simulation in Educational Communication) and illustrates its important components with examples: dialogue simulation functions including multiple roles talk show and user participating roles play, vocabulary exercises including crossword, single choice questions and cloze questions, listening, reading comprehension, grammar exercises, reading aloud, individual learner portfolios, collaborative learning, the teacher's management function, feedback, and so on. The system's function of instant feedback to every student and statistical analysis upon all students' responses to question answers characterizes this system as a learner response system. The Web-based system can be browsed not only by the user through traditional personal computers but also through fashionable tablet computers. Besides the Web-based system, a standalone vocabulary learning and assessment system for Windows OS is developed. Its functions are also introduced.

There has been a significant development in the area of free and open source geospatial software. Research has flourished over the decades from vendor-dependent software to open source software where researchers are paying increasing attention to maximize the value of their data. It is often a difficult task to choose particular open source GIS (OGIS) software among a number of emerging OGIS software. It is important to characterise the projects according to some unified criteria. Each software has certain advantages and disadvantages and it is always time consuming to identify exactly which software to select for a specific purpose. This chapter focuses on the assessment criteria enabling developers, researchers, and GIS users to select suitable OGIS software to meet their requirements for analysis and design of geospatial application in multidisciplinary fields. This chapter highlights the importance of assessment criteria, followed by an explanation of each criteria and their significance with examples from existing OGIS software.

In the education world, the number of web-based system is growing substantially in the past few years. Many web-based teaching tools has been developed to help students expand his knowledge. This paper presents a web-based laboratory to augment learning experiences in the field of robotics. The designed laboratory consists of a robotic arm with laser pointer, projection platform and web-based interface. The laboratory is used to learn about inverse kinematics and forward kinematics problems. Students enter the input parameters through web interface, server calculate output parameters and sent it to the robot. The web interface displays the movement result and turn on the laser pointer to the projection field. Preliminary testing concerning interface usability, access control mechanism and command queueing shows that the system working as expected.

This study reports on the use of an open-source software for sign language learning and (self-)assessment. A Yes/No vocabulary size test for Swiss German Sign Language (Deutschschweizerische Gebärdensprache, DSGS) was developed, targeting beginning adult learners. The Web-based test, which can be used for self-assessment or placement purposes, was administered to 20 DSGS adult learners of ages 24 to 55 (M = 39.3). The learners filled out a background questionnaire, took the Yes/No test tests, and filled out a feedback questionnaire. The comments provided by the learners about the suitability of the Web-based DSGS vocabulary self-assessment instrument provided concrete feedback towards improvement of the system.

We have developed a Ch Mechanism Toolkit for analysis and design of mechanisms. It was developed using Ch, an embeddable C/C++ interpreter with extensions. The Ch Mechanism Toolkit allows users to write simple programs for solving complicated planar mechanism problems. As an extension to the toolkit, a Web-based system was created for performing mechanism design and analysis through the internet. This paper will discuss the design and implementation of the Ch Mechanism Toolkit as well as its corresponding web-based system. The web-based mechanism system is especially suitable for distance learning. The web-based system for mechanism design and analysis is available on the Web at http://www.softintegration/webservices/mechanism/.
