The study resulted in a strategy design for certificate making service at the notary office. It was a case study at notary office of Theresia Dwi Wijayanti, S.H. the mechanism and work frame/ principle of certificate making service was still in the form of job instructions understood only by several employees, and this often made repeated questions at the service department and became a problem when the employee took permission not to come to work. Since the mechanism and work flow/ principle of the service was not vivid, and there were no any media for the service of making the authentic certificates, the mechanism and the work flow/ principles of services in making the certificates at the notary office.<p>The design of the strategy is facilitated with the service of certificate making that could be used as a media in knowledge share, became a knowledge management portal at the service department, so it would grow knowledge share culture (Knowledge Sharing) among the employees and the optimal service to the clients.</p><p>The system development method used in the study was Knowledge Management Roadmap method with these phases: business modeling, use-case modeling, analysis, design, and implementation. This method resulted in a strategy design for the service department to make certificates. Furthermore, the notary office would have a knowledge share media.</p><p class="Default">Key words      : Knowledge Management, Knowledge Sharing, Knowledge Management Roadmap</p><p>Penelitian menghasilkan rancangan strategi untuk pelayanan pembuatan akta pada kantor Notaris, study kasus pada kantor Notaris Theresia Dwi Wijayanti, SH. Mekanisme dan alur kerja/prinsip pelayanan pembuatan akta masih berupa instruksi kerja, yang dipahami oleh beberapa pegawai saja, dan sering menjadi pertanyaan berulang pada bagian pelayanan serta menjadi kendala pada saat pegawai izin tidak masuk kerja. Karena mekanisme dan alur kerja/prinsip pelayanan belum jelas dan belum adanya media untuk pelayanan pembuatan akta otentik, mekanisme dan alur kerja/prinsip pelayanan dalam pembuatan akta pada kantor Notaris.</p><p>Rancangan strategi ini difasilitasi dengan aplikasi pelayanan pembuatan akta yang dapat digunakan sebagai media dalam berbagi pengetahuan, menjadi portal Knowledge Manajement pada bagian pelayanan, sehingga menumbuhkan budaya penyebaran pengetahuan (Knowledge Sharing) diantara pegawai dan pelayanan optimal kepada klien. </p><p>Metode pengembangan sistem yang digunakan adalah Knowledge Management Roadmap dengan tahapan pemodelan bisnis, pemodelan use case, analisis, perancangan, dan implementasi. Dengan metode Knowledge Manajement Roadmap menghasilkan rancangan strategi untuk bagian pelayanan pembuatan akta dan kantor Notaris memiliki sebuah media berbagi pengetahuan.</p><p>Kata kunci: Manajemen Pengetahuan, Knowledge Sharing, Knowledge Manajement Roadmap.</p>

In their daily practice, practitioners belong to local communities of practice (CoPs) within their organisation. This knowledge is rarely capitalised upon because discussions are mainly verbal. Practitioners can also belong to general CoPs online. Within these general CoPs, discussions are rarely linked to the context in which they appeared, since the members are from different companies or institutions. This paper (1) connects these two levels of CoPs by contacting practitioners belonging to CoPs centred on the same general activity but who are geographically distributed and (2) capitalises on the produced knowledge by contextualising, allowing it to be accessible and reusable by all the members. The authors detail the main results of the research: (1) a model of the interconnection of CoPs (ICP) to support knowledge sharing and dissemination; and (2) a specific knowledge management tool for the ICP knowledge base. The authors apply the model and platform to university tutors by: (1) developing a use case, which links the model and the TE-Cap 2 platform and highlights the new possibilities offered by the knowledge management tool; and (2) conducting a descriptive investigation lasting for five months.

Abstract Department of Communication and Information Technology Government Prabumulih is a device which acts as a local government responsible for the fields of transportation, communication and informatics at level Prabumulih. The Department has the tacit and explicit knowledge that has not been optimally managed and documented. Office requires a knowledge management system, as evidenced by knowledge sharing features. System development method used is the 10-step knowledge management roadmap by Amrit Tiwana . While the method of knowledge sharing using the Boyer-Moore algorithm. The results of this study are worth a Knowledge Management System applied to the department. And based on the results of testing the application of knowledge sharing feature using the Boyer-Moore algorithm is very effective.   Keywords: Knowledge Management System, Knowledge Sharing, Boyer-Moore Algorithm

SUMMARY Prior audit research suggests that most, if not all, audit quality can be explained at the office level. However, the question remains of whether office-level audit quality is contingent on how individual offices relate to the firm as a whole. Motivated by theories of knowledge management, organizational learning, and networks, we posit that individual offices are connected to their audit network through partner knowledge sharing and oversight, which impact office-level audit quality. We interview Big 4 audit partners and learn that knowledge sharing between partners in different offices is common and intended to aid in the provision of audit services. Using network connectedness to proxy for knowledge sharing and oversight between offices of the same firm, we document that more connected offices are associated with fewer client restatements and lower discretionary accruals. We additionally find that network effects are magnified when accounting treatments are more complex and require greater auditor judgement.

Imagine the University where everything runs smoothly, there is no need to worry about information that needs to be known where the University shares all information in your ear. Imagine that you know every location of your University and the schedules are relevant. This research focuses on the problem faced by Kathmandu University (KU) students while searching for their lecture room and managing their class schedule. This research is carried out for proposing knowledge portal for an intelligent class scheduling and location directing on the central campus of KU. The quest of the information world to make everyday easier has driven us to come up with the concept of such an app and this research consists of role of knowledge management for the development of an application by sharing and exchange of information between individuals and the administration. The university will be benefited in at least a small way through the paper.

Cultural heritage is the legacy of physical artefacts and intangible attributes of a group or society that is inherited from past generations. Terminology is a tool for the dissemination and communication of cultural heritage. The lack of clearly identified terminologies is an obstacle to communication and knowledge sharing. Especially, for experts with different languages, it is difficult to understand what the term refers to only through terms. Our work aims to respond to this issue by implementing practices drawn from the Semantic Web and ISO Terminology standards (ISO 704 and ISO 1087-1) and more particularly, by building in a W3C format ontology as knowledge infrastructure to construct a multilingual terminology e-Dictionary. The Chinese ceramic vases of the Ming and Qing dynasties are the application cases of our work. The method of building ontology is the ‘term-and-characteristic guided method’, which follows the ISO principles of Terminology. The main result of this work is an online terminology e-Dictionary. The terminology e-Dictionary could help archaeologists communicate and understand the concepts denoted by terms in different languages and provide a new perspective based on ontology for the digital protection of cultural heritage. Purpose The purpose of this paper is explore the relative effectiveness of people-based and information technology-based knowledge management (KM) strategies as implemented by principals in Hong Kong schools to facilitate and sustain Lesson Study for teachers’ knowledge sharing and internalization. Design/methodology/approach Data from 184 principals in Hong Kong were collected by a cross-sectional quantitative survey. Confirmatory factor analysis and reliability tests have been used to examine the constructed validity and reliability of the instrument. A structural equation model was applied to confirm the predictive effect of people-based and information technology-based KM strategies on teachers’ knowledge sharing and internalization through Lesson Study. Findings Results show that people-based KM strategy predicts knowledge sharing and internalization by and among teachers. However, while information technology-based knowledge management strategies predict teachers’ knowledge sharing, they do not predict how effectively they internalize knowledge. Practical implications Cultivating communities of practice, professional learning communities and mentoring schemes in schools can nurture a knowledge-sharing culture to facilitate and sustain Lesson Study for teacher learning. Institutionalizing an information technology system can help teachers to retrieve, share and store the school’s explicit knowledge. Originality/value The paper not only suggests school management strategies and practices for school leaders to facilitate and sustain Lesson Study, but also brings a new research dimension, KM, to the research area.

Abstract Because the requirements of the customers are more and more high related to quality, quantity, delivery times at lowest costs possible, the industry had to come with automated solutions to improve these requirements. Starting from the automated lines developed by Ford and Toyota, we have now developed automated and self-sustained working lines, which is possible nowadays-using collaborative robots. By using the knowledge management system we can improve the development of the future of this kind of area of research. This paper shows the benefits and the smartness use of the robots that are performing the manipulation activities that increases the work place ergonomically and improve the interaction between human - machine in order to assist in parallel tasks and lowering the physically human efforts.

Purpose Despite the fact that schools should be places where learning occurs, most schools have overlooked the importance of knowledge. In contrast, commercial firms have recognized knowledge as a strategic intangible asset and a key resource of the enterprises. Therefore, enterprises have already harnessed knowledge to a great extent with wide practice of knowledge management (KM). The purpose of this paper is to show that KM could be applied to the education sector similar to the practice in the business world for leveraging intellectual assets. This paper examines how schools can kick off the process of KM implementation. This paper also reports what have been done and what should be done in KM implementation better in a school. This can give insights for schools which will try KM in near future. Design/methodology/approach The paper uses a case study in a secondary school to explore how KM can be kicked off and sustained in a school setting. A KM system called knowledge base and a document management system called Digital Archive were developed to serve as the infrastructure for knowledge sharing. Lesson study and communities of practice (CoPs) were adopted to be the platforms for knowledge sharing among teachers in the school. A case study of the processes and lesson learned was done in this paper. Multiple sources of data, including observations, questionnaires and interviews, have been collected for evaluation. Findings In this paper, KM implementation was found to be effective through dual approaches: information-based and people-/interaction-based approaches. A knowledge base and a Digital Archive as knowledge repositories and lesson study and CoPs as platforms for knowledge sharing have been successfully established to facilitate sharing information/knowledge and nurturing a sharing culture and trust. Challenges faced and the related coping strategies during the process of implementation were shared and reflected. It was also found that building sharing culture is the critical turning point of the process of KM implementation. Breaking through the barrier of sharing was found to be very essential to KM implementation. Research limitations/implications This paper adopts case study methodology to report the process of KM implementation in a school. Although these results of the study conducted in one school may not be generalized to other school contexts, the lessons learned in the study will be a strong empirical evidence of research of KM implementation, especially in schools. Because of the limited number of prior studies and the importance of the pioneering work of launching KM implementation, this paper tries to address the research gap by using theory building from cases as a research strategy rather than theory testing research, especially in “how”and“why” in the steps of kicking off KM implementation in an unexplored research area. Practical implications This paper shows a case of KM implementation in a school with thoughtful procedures of implementing information-based and people-/interaction-based approaches. The paper is a showcase that will shed light on the processes and lessons learned and also helps to provide a model for schools who are interested in applying KM in their schools. Social implications Most people might think that KM can be applied only in commercial sector. This paper shows that KM can also be adopted in schools as well as other sectors. Originality/value This paper represents one of the pioneering work of implementing KM in a school. It hopes to make contributions for KM implementation also in the public sector within which are non-profit-making organizations.
