Fuzzy Control Using Piecewise Linear Membership Functions Based on Knowledge of Tuning a PID Controller

Tuning control parameters of a fuzzy controller depends on trial-and-error. How this can be accomplished efficiently is an important subject in fuzzy control that should be investigated. We propose a method in which membership functions of a fuzzy controller can be simply set up using the knowledge of tuning parameters in a conventional PID controller. In this method, fuzzy control is realized as follows: Piecewise linear membership functions determined using the knowledge of tuning parameters in a PID controller are set up in antecedent parts of four fuzzy control rules having simple structures. Then the simplified inference method that enables high-speed inference is applied to fuzzy control rules.

In order to optimize synchronization of wiper arm, a locomotive wiper controller of PWM and Fuzzy PID controller are proposed. The PWM controller is mainly designed of input control circuit, a central control unit, DC wiper motor pulse width modulation control and drive circuit, the motor stops the braking circuit, single-speed wiper motor of permanent magnet DC, etc. It can realize the high speed, low speed, intermission, stop function of wiper. The controller has values of stable performance, low noise, simple structure, etc. In locomotive wiper controller, Fuzzy PID controller combines the advantages of Fuzzy controller and PID controller, that it can achieve fast response, small overshoot. Fuzzy PID can also ensure the steady-state accuracy of the system, and the control performance is better than PID control and fuzzy control.

Designed a device with PLC and inverter for transformer cooling control system. The structure of fuzzy controller is built with PLC. By calculating and testing, fuzzy and fuzzy control rules are established. Practical computing for the PLC to control the output lookup table is given. Using this technique, transformer cooling system energy consumption will be reduced, transformer’s coolers life will be extended and transformer cooling system automation level will be increased.

AbstractThis paper presents a fuzzy-neural structure of a Decoupling Fuzzy PID controller with self-tuning parameters. This structure is appropriate for Two-Input-Two-Output (TITO) nonlinear system. The main advantage here is that the equation of classical PID control and decoupling coefficients are used as a Sugeno function into the fuzzy rules. Hence the designed decoupling fuzzy PID controller can be viewed as a natural similarity to the conventional one with decoupling elements. A benchmark quadruple tank, implementing a TITO nonlinear system is considered to illustrate the benefits of the design paradigm. The performance of this set up was studied for reference tracking and disturbance rejection cases. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed solution.

This study presents the development and application of a fuzzy control system (FCS) for the control of the charge and discharge process for a bank of batteries connected to a DC microgrid (DC-MG). The DC-MG runs on a maximum power of 1 kW with a 190 V DC bus using two photovoltaic systems of 0.6 kW each, a 1 kW bidirectional DC-AC converter to interconnect the DC-MG with the grid, a bank of 115 Ah to 120 V lead-acid batteries, and a general management system used to define the operating status of the FCS. This FCS uses a multiplexed fuzzy controller, normalizing the controller’s inputs and outputs in each operating status. The design of the fuzzy controller is based on a Mamdani inference system with AND-type fuzzy rules. The input and output variables have two trapezoidal membership functions and three triangular membership functions. LabVIEW and the NI myRIO-1900 embedded design device were used to implement the FCS. Results show the stability of the DC bus of the microgrid when the bank of batteries is in the charging and discharging process, with the bus stabilized in a range of 190 V ± 5%, thus demonstrating short response times to perturbations considering the microgrid’s response dynamics.

Abstract The nonlinear nature of high speed, flexible rod mechanisms has been previously confirmed, both experimentally and analytically. Therefore, sound control system design of flexible mechanisms must necessarily be based on nonlinear control. Active control via fuzzy logic is assessed as a means to suppress the elastic transverse bending vibration of a flexible rod of a slider crank mechanism of a slider crank mechanism. Several pairs of piezoelectric elements are used to provide the control action. Sensor output of deflection is fed to the fuzzy controller, which determines the voltage input to the actuator. A three mode approximation is utilized in the simulation study. Computer simulation shows that fuzzy control can be used to suppress bending vibrations at high speeds.

Current coach mainly use the passive rubber mount system to isolate vibration, it’s hard to meet the engine broadband range isolation requirements. In order to reduce the coach engine vibration’s influence on the ride comfort and operational stability, it’s proposed that a magnetorheological fluid powertrain mount system. Set up the six degrees of freedom dynamic model and 1/4 engine single freedom vibration model. Design a fuzzy controller, which the input is dynamic exciting force and second order main frequency, the output is control current. Simulate the three types systems with the help of software of MATLAB/SIMULINK and Fuzzy control toolbox. The result shows that when fuzzy controller works, adjustable damping effect is obvious, it can attenuate vibration in large degree. The magnetorheological hydraulic mount with the fuzzy control ,compared with rubber mount and traditional hydraulic mount, has better isolation effect. Its damp can be controlled real-time, and it can be effective in isolation within the broadband.

The driving stability and comfort-ability are directly influenced by steering system, and it is a critical component in an automobile. Torsion bar torque sensor signal and the vehicle speed signal are used to calculate the assisting torque that on the motor shaft. The rules about how to calculate desired torque signal is very important for driving portability and stability. Influence of motor control strategy on assisting response characteristic. In this paper adaptive fuzzy control rules is proposed for the assisting characteristic and power motor. Base on assistance characteristic and assistance motor fuzzy control is designed. Fuzzy information processing torque signal, vehicle speed signal, with MATLAB simulation contrast experiment, and the result validation the fuzzy controller.

In micro-EDM, discharge energy and clearance is very small, discharge state is much complex and changes very fast, so fuzzy control algorithm is put forward. Base on the character of discharging frequency far higher than mechanism response frequency in micro-EDM, taking relative discharge ratio statistical rule as control system’s input, according to error and error change of relative discharge ratio and normal discharge ratio, with manual operation control experience of micro-EDM, fuzzy control rules are designed and fuzzy query tabulation is set up. As result of experiments, when micro-EDM is in condition of low working voltage and small current, fuzzy control system with double parameters detection is proved to improve utilization ratio of pulse, so as to increase utilization ratio, increase working speed and reduce wear ratio of electrode.
