The fast-growing number of Halal integrity issues has attracted the scholar's debate on improving integrity in practicing the Halal supply chain. To investigate how firms comply with Halal procedures in supply chain may not possibly provide much potential research gaps. The application of technology in improving Halal supply chain management on blockchain technology should be given urgent priority. The aim of this chapter is to explore the possibility to integrate blockchain technology to improve the use of Halal supply chain management. Blockchain technology will help the Halal based oriented firm in the supply chain to trace the source of the raw materials, products, labeling information, and Halal product distribution to strengthen the supply chain networks. Blockchain technology-driven Halal supply chain shall overcome and surpass issues related to Halal integrity and certifications which could also have an impact globally.

A supply chain is a network of facilities and distribution options that performs the functions of procurement of materials, transformation of these materials into intermediate and finished products, and the distribution of these finished products to customers. In other words, supply chain encompasses all of the activities associated with moving goods from raw-materials stage through to the end user. The information systems needed to monitor all of these activities are a critical part of the mix. Successful supply chain management (SCM), then, coordinates and integrates all of these activities into a seamless process. It embraces and links all of the partners in the chain. In addition to the key functional areas within the organization, these partners include vendors, carriers, third-party logistics companies, and information systems providers.

ABSTRACTThis study aims to examine the business processes through the MSME supply chain, specifically in the chain of raw material access, production processes to marketing processes. The objects of this research focusing on five most developed MSME in Sambirejo Village, Ngawen, Gunung Kidul namely food, processed zinc, woven cloth, tile and local gabion. The business processes analyzed by using supply chain management approach. This study conducted a qualitative method based on interview and observation. Results of the study show that the pattern of MSME supply chains in Sambirejo Village is still relatively simple. In their processes, these MSME supply raw materials from suppliers or distributors of raw materials then process them. Afterwards, they distribute them to consumers using two different distribution methods (dual channel) there are distribute it directly and through an intermediary. Keywords: business process; UMKM; supply chain management

A supply chain consists of the flow of products and services from raw materials manufacturers, component and intermediate manufacturers, final product manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors and retailers. All are connected by transportation, storage activities, and integrated through information, planning, and integration activities. Many large firms are moving away from in-house Vertically Integrated structures to Supply Chain Management. Supply Chain are the planning and management of all activities involved in sourcing and procurement, conversion, and all logistics management activities. It also includes coordination with channel partners, which can be suppliers, intermediaries, third party service providers, and customers. Supply chain management is the design of seamless value added processes across organization boundaries to meet the real needs of the end customer. Failure to proactively design a SC results in poor coordination of effort, incompatible information systems, long cycle times, communication problems, customer service issues, excessive waste and environmental degradation, relatively high inventories for the level of customer service achieved, and lower the optimal profit. A process map is a graphic representation of the system and contains a sequence of steps that are performed to produce some desired output. The primary goal behind process mapping is to make complex systems visible. The logistics/supply chain design and technology decision is of great strategic importance to logistics, the firm as a whole, and the supply chain. A number of factors may suggest the need to design the logistics/supply chain. A formal, structured process for design and digital tools is preferable; the potential impacts on cost and service justify a significant effort toward following a sound process. Numerous factors including technology may affect the design of a logistics and supply chain and the location of specific facilities within the context of the network.

Supply chain management is a burning issue for modern industrial enterprises. To handle this issue, non-linear stochastic models are successfully applied to find the reasonable and efficient solutions. A need to develop a unique method to find the solutions to supply chain management tasks defined as stochastic mixed-integer non-linear programming tasks is determined by the limitations imposed by the general models. The sum of the total raw procurement costs from the Commodity Exchange over the defined planning horizon is taken to be the target function of the unique model, while the binary variables which show whether a purchasing order is included into the procurement plan are used for optimization purposes. Some parameters of model’s limitations are stochastic and consider the uncertainty factor and risks in supplying the required raw materials to the manufacturing site. Branch-and-bound and genetic algorithms are applied at some steps in the developed heuristic algorithm. The algorithm and the model are tested at a major timber processing enterprise in Primorsky Area. Four types of processors over three planning horizons were applied to compare the efficiency of the proposed algorithm with partial application of the genetic algorithm or branch-and-bound method. The findings analysis shows that, unlike the genetic algorithm, the unique one is more stable in terms of uncertainty of the input parameters in comparison with the branch-and-bound method. It provides the solutions in the models with a great number of variables. The algorithm is shown to be universal enough for its further modification in solving more complicated problems of the same class, containing a significantly larger number of probabilistic parameters that describe other uncertainties in the supply of raw materials. Further research is seen to include the development of the proposed algorithm to increase the rate of convergence for its better efficiency.

Abstract The article presents changes that took place in the textile and apparel (T&A) industry in Poland in the years 2004–2020. To describe the changes, we adopted the supply chain management perspective, which allowed for a global view of the changes taking place. We discuss the basic characteristics, such as the size and structure of the industry, innovation, production value, and the use of information and communications technology (ICT). In the research, we used the databases of the Central Statistical Office (GUS) on the sold production of the T&A industry, as well as imports and exports. Our research shows that, at the level of basic characteristics, the industry is close to the European model. However, it is characterized by a smaller share of small companies in the structure of enterprises. The research showed an upward trend in the production of sold textiles and, to a lesser extent, apparel. At the same time, the operation of the Polish T&A industry is influenced by the import of finished products and raw materials from China, Germany, Bangladesh, and Turkey. The export is directed to the German, Czech, Romanian, and Ukrainian markets. The article provides an overview of the development trends in the Polish T&A industry in the broad context of international conditions.
