Agung Mulya has experienced a decline in the production process, because there is an inefficient machine arrangement that causes delays in producing products, products with a target in a day can produce about 300 pcs of requests, can only produce about 170 pcs of requests, it is suspected that the main cause is the layout of the machine. less precise. In an effort to solve this problem, this study uses a method using Line Balancing and ARC (Activity Relation Chart) methods. This method is used for structuring the production flow so that there is a balance on all production lines so as to provide high efficiency on each production line. The balance in question is the balance of output from each stage of operation from the point of view of the production line and compiling a layout design for room facilities is used to analyze the proximity relationship using input data in the form of process flow, distance between spaces, conditions and spatial conditions From the results of this study resulted in a better re-lay out of thr production facility layout, the work station which originally had 8 workstations has decreased to 5 workstations, this is because the layout of the production flow layout can reduce the distance between work stations and the production process more efficient.

The existence of operational balance in each production lines may decrease the idle time; it shows that the productivity is increasing therefore it increases the production rate. The issues existed in the production process of hollow Dakota 1730 in PT. XYZ were 3 departments, from the result of the first observation, there was a bottleneck from each department and each production did not achieve the required target. Therefore, this research would fix the production line. The method used was ranked /positional weight. Based on the data processing by the ranked positional weight method, gained the total of work station in the production process of hollow Dakota 1730 by the number of 2 work stations. From the result of efficiency balancing, gained 62.5% and balance delay value was 37.5%. it shows that the balance performance between each department increases significantly.

Production Line Balancing (PLB) is the technique of assigning the operations to workstations in such a way that the assignment minimizes the idle time between workstations. PLB aims to equator the workload in each workstation to assure maximum production flow. By adding machine in specific configurations is one treatment which leads to this leveling in workload. This research studies the different efficiencies of the added machine and the effect of these efficiencies on line balancing to select the machine with suitable efficiency. This will be led to reduce the idle time between workstations and increasing production flow. The work time considered as the efficiency criterion for this case study. The study has been implemented on a dumb truck production line and resulted in increasing the line efficiency to 81.7%.

The aim of the paper is to present the results of introducing the SMED method on one of the production lines in a selected production company. For the purposes of this study, a single bottling line for filling 200 ml and 250 ml glass bottles with carbonated drinks was selected. Upon analyzing the process of mixer washing in terms of time, it was shown that in individual steps, the total single washing time was 5 hours 3 minutes on average, which accounted for about 19% of the total retooling of the production line. However, after using the SMED method, this process has taken 3 hours 50 minutes. Thus, a saving of 1 hour 13 minutes was obtained after shortening the retooling, which allowed to extend the production process.

PT. Adhimix Precast Indonesia is engaged in the construction sector by producing concrete and construction. Layout design is needed so that the existing land can be utilized optimally and material transfer is more effective and efficient. This can affect the distance and time of the transfer so that the cost of moving can be minimized. In practice, the company's trajectory condition only has one path (trajectory) for alternating current and crossing production lines, so it is considered inefficient to move both goods and workers, coupled with the existence of land that is not used properly, therefore improvements are needed to the production floor layout. in order to minimize the cost of moving goods and have a definite path (trajectory). Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) is a method for redesigning a layout (re-layout) based on the results of distance optimization and Material Handling Costs (OMH). The amount of OMH in the initial layout (now) is Rp. 2,614,200 with a total track distance of 39.82m and OMH in the proposed layout with a total track distance of 19.17m, the result is Rp. 1,534,200, this proves that the proposed layout can be applied because there is a decrease in total OMH by 35.44% or Rp. 926,580. PT.

A production flow line balancing problem for automotive industry has been studied. A batch of an end item is produced by transforming sheet metals into parts at different manufacturing stages followed by assembly operations. The forming operations of the sheet metals into various parts and their assembly works are illustrated through 22 different tasks. Some of the tasks have the processing times greater than the takt time and are categorized as extra-long tasks. Attempts were made to solve this intricate line balancing problem by adopting the Ranked Positional Weight (RPW) method. But the solution given by the RPW model loses its exactitude due to the presence of the extra-long tasks. In this research a heuristic approach based on RPW is developed through which the problem has been resolved in an efficient and effective manner and hence the proposed heuristic is deemed to be capable of balancing production lines having such extra-long tasks.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to improve the productivity of a large-sized frozen chicken manufacturer in Thailand. It analyses the production process based on work study principles and identifies the bottleneck operation. It develops three models for the chicken preparation process. Design/methodology/approach – First, analyse the current production system by collecting the cycle time of all operations in the production process based on work study principles. Then, design the production network and identify the bottleneck operation. After that, three methods – based on line balancing (LB), theory of constraints, and JIT concepts or ECRS (eliminate, combine, rearrange and simplify) – are proposed and implemented in the actual production line. Findings – With the ECRS concept, the authors implement combine by combining two stations into one station, such as handling and weighing, or weighing batter and mixing it with chicken. Then, Simplify is implemented at job E, or transporting chicken using a cart instead of walking. This method can improve the cycle time and reduce the number of employees. It can increase the line efficiency by up to 94.20 per cent, reduce the number of employees by 14 persons, and reduce the labour cost by 356,160 baht/year. Originality/value – Most agro-industry manufacturing processes are labour intensive. Thus, production LB can help increase productivity and reduce costs. The authors found that the case study company designed the production line without aligning it with the production network. A simple improvement can be made by adjusting the sequence of the work. In addition, the current production line was not lean. Implementation of the ECRS concept to improve production can reduce the waiting time and simplify the job.

Analysis of the design of the facility layout can improve the performance of production lines such as decreasing congestion levels, minimizing material handling costs. PT. XYZ is one of the fried onion companies has constraints on the material handling system that is less efficient because it takes a long time in the process. Therefore, there will be improvements to the layout of PT. XYZ to increase productivity and shorten the time of the production cycle. The method used is From to Chart the method is a conventional technique commonly used for planning factory layouts and moving goods in a production process. From the results obtained that the proposed layout is better than the initial layout with a higher flow efficiency value of 86.18%. The proposed layout utilizes vacant land, so that the production flow does not repeat and does not rotate far, so that the distance between the areas is getting closer.

The article presents one of the methods of management used in quality engineering, i.e. the SMED, which is applied to streamline the functioning of machines used on a production line. The research problem that was analysed on one of the production lines was too long a retooling time which resulted in too high a cost of the operation which, consequently, resulted in excessive overall production costs. The main aim of the actions undertaken when applying the SMED method was to identify potentially problematic areas and reduce the retooling time. All those actions allowed to minimise production costs, and improved the functioning of the company as well as the efficiency of the production process.
