Based on analysis of different guidelines and standards for material selection of casing which belong to six companies in four countries, the main factors that influence the material selection of casing have been generalized. Through comparing the safety and corrosion resistance properties of materials recommended by different guidelines in specific conditions, a synthetic guideline has been developed, which can provide a more appropriate suggestion. The environmental conditions and materials adopted in East Sichuan region have been taken for example. By comparing the proposed results with adopted materials of field well completion, it demonstrates that the result provided by the synthetic guideline is accurate and reliable.

Abstract The success of any matrix treatment depends upon the complete coverage of all zones. Consequently, the selection of the diversion technology is critical for treatment success. While various types of diverting agents are commercially available, the proper selection of optimal diverter depends on many factors, including well completion and history, compatibility with reservoir and treatment fluids, treatment objectives, operational constraints, and safety and environment considerations. The study will cover five major types of non-mechanical diversion technologies considered as potential solutions for offshore deepwater oil reservoirs: dynamic diversion, relative permeability modifiers (RPM), viscoelastic surfactants (VES), particulate diversion, and perforation diversion. All of them, but a dynamic diversion, are based on different chemicals or products to be added to the injected treatment fluid, and occasionally some can be complementary to each other. Given the offshore and deepwater settings, mechanical diversion techniques were not covered in the study, aiming to find a solution that would achieve acceptable diversion while minimizing operational effort, which would enable riser-less intervention and the use of light intervention techniques. This study was driven by the need to effectively stimulate a 500ft of a cased and perforated interval with a permeability of 500 md, and injection rate limited to 16 bpm due to completion limitations. The sandstone formation, with static in situ temperature of 270F, was far beyond the applicability of dynamic diversion and, to achieve the desired full coverage for the planned scale inhibition treatment required and combination with another diverter system was needed. The process applied included compatibility tests, regained permeability tests, and test well trials. Depending on the specific diversion product analyzed the testing procedures were adapted to obtain the information to properly guide to the optimal solution.

For natural gas well in sour gas reservoirs, very serious corrosion in the gas well string is an important factor of gas production system life. In order to ensure the long-term development of gas wells, this paper mainly introduces the tubing and casing corrosion in sour gas reservoirs, corrosion-resistant material selection of tubing and casing in sour gas reservoirs and proposes the optimization idea and technique of tubing material selection.. By taking W 63 well as an example, this paper optimizes the material selection of production casing for W 63 well. For application, the optimal materials of gas well string in W 63 well have good performance of corrosion resistance.

For natural gas well with high content of CO2 and H2S, very serious corrosion in the gas well string is an important factor of gas production system life. In order to ensure the long-term development of gas wells, this paper mainly study the corrosion-resistant material selection of tubing and casing in sour gas reservoirs under coexistence of H2S and CO2 and proposes the optimization idea and technique of tubing and casing material selection. By taking Puguang gas field as an example, this paper optimizes the material selection of production casing for Puguang gas field. By testing, the optimal materials of gas well string in Puguang gas field have good performance of erosion resistance

Aim at the diversity of coalbed methane well completion methods, grey system is used to select completion method. Firstly, implement production prediction and economic evaluation. Then evaluate five indexes: cumulative gas production, net present value, dynamic payback period, internal rate of return and risk factor. The most appropriate completion method can be got. When apply this evaluation method to Sihe mining of Qinshui basin, results show that pinnate horizontal well is the most suitable completion method, followed by fractured vertical well.

The paper describes shale gas borehole axes trajectories (vertical, horizontal, multilateral). The methodology of trajectory design in a two-and three-dimensional space has been developed. The selection of the profile type of the trajectory axes of the directional borehole depends on the technical and technological possibilities of its implementation and the results of a comprehensive economic analysis of the availability and development of the field. The work assumes the possibility of a multivariate design of trajectories depending on the accepted (available or imposed) input data.
