Abstract Young’s double slit experiments represent the mystery of quantum mechanics. To explore the mystery, varieties of the single slit, double slit, cross-double slit and 1D-grating experiments were performed, which show the universal phenomena that the interference/diffraction patterns are curved, expanded and inclined. In this article, we show novel phenomena that the diffraction patterns of the 2D-cross-grating experiments can be curved, expanded and inclined simultaneously and continuously. Those experiments provide comprehensive data for developing/testing a theoretical model.

Abstract Young’s double slit experiments represent the mystery of quantum mechanics. To explore the mystery, varieties of the double slit and cross-double slit experiments were performed. In this article, we show novel phenomena that the interference patterns of the double slit/cross-double slit experiments can be curved. The curvatures depend on the orientation of the diaphragms of the double slit/cross-double slit. Those experiments provide comprehensive data for developing/testing a theoretical model.

Abstract Young’s double slit experiments express the mystery of quantum mechanics. To explore the mystery, varieties of the double slit experiments were performed. In this article, we show the novel double slit experiments in which the following three phenomena emerged simultaneously: see abstract figure in the downloadable PDF.(1) the interference patterns incline towards the axis that perpendicular to the axis the diaphragm rotating around; (2) the interference patterns curved; (3) the distances between the fringes of the interference patterns expanded. To determine the direction the pattern curved towards, we propose the right-hand rule for the clockwise rotating diaphragm and the left-hand rule for the counterclockwise rotating diaphragms. Those experiments show more mysteries of the double slit and provide comprehensive data for developing/testing a theoretical model.

Abstract Young’s double slit experiments express the mystery of quantum mechanics. To explore the mystery, varieties of the double slit and cross-double slit experiments were performed. In this article, we show novel mystery phenomena: (1) the characteristics of the interference patterns of the double slit and cross-double slit experiments depend on the orientation of the diaphragm used in the experiment, specifically on which axis the diaphragm rotates around, the rotating angle and how to rotate, clockwise or counterclockwise; and (2) in the cross-double slit experiments, the characteristics of the interference patterns also depend on which slit photons pass through; (3) unlike the regular double slit and regular cross-double slit experiments, in which the interference patterns are along the straight line, the interference patterns of the double slit/cross-double slit experiments can be along curve, and the curvatures depend on the orientations of the diaphragms of the double slit/cross-double slit. Those experiments show more mysteries of the double slit and cross-double slit experiments and provide comprehensive data for developing/testing a theoretical model.

Abstract The orientation-dependence of the interference/diffraction patterns of the 1D-double slit/1D-grating and 2D-cross-double slit/2D-cross-grating experiments have been studied experimentally and theoretically. However, the above experiments were limited to certain orientations, namely rotating around either one axis or two axes. In this article, the 3-axis-rotation apparatus is proposed/made, which can rotate the 1D-double slit/2D-cross-double slit and 1D-grating/2D-cross-grating, CW and CCW respectively, 00-3600 around three axes independently and sequentially. By this apparatus, the orientation-dependence of the patterns is systematically studied. Moreover, the experiments can be performed easily. Then we show that the photons, before landing on the detector/screen, behave as particles. The above observed phenomena provide the comprehensive information to theoretical study of the double slit/grating experiments. We suggest that the complete mathematical model should contain three rotation angles as parameters. Furthermore, the phenomena have potential applications.

Heat has often been described as part of the energy transfer process. Information theory says everything is information. If everything is information then what type of information is heat, this question can be settled by the double slit experiment, but we must know what we are looking for.

Abstract Young’s double slit experiments, which represent the mystery of quantum mechanics, have been interpreted by quantum probability waves and pilot waves. In this article, to study the mystery, we proposed and carried out comprehensive double slit experiments, which demonstrate two postulates related to double slit experiments: (1) before striking at the slide of a double slit, photons emitted by a laser source behave as particles; (2) before striking at the detector, photons behave as particles. Progress in studying the mystery of the double slit experiment is presented.

Entropic Dynamics is a framework for deriving the laws of physics from entropic inference. In an (ED) of particles, the central assumption is that particles have definite yet unknown positions. By appealing to certain symmetries, one can derive a quantum mechanics of scalar particles and particles with spin, in which the trajectories of the particles are given by a stochastic equation. This is much like Nelson’s stochastic mechanics which also assumes a fluctuating particle as the basis of the microstates. The uniqueness of ED as an entropic inference of particles allows one to continuously transition between fluctuating particles and the smooth trajectories assumed in Bohmian mechanics. In this work we explore the consequences of the ED framework by studying the trajectories of particles in the continuum between stochastic and Bohmian limits in the context of a few physical examples, which include the double slit and Stern-Gerlach experiments.
