Poverty and hunger are the two foremost concerns of all the developing and underdeveloped nations and in order to eradicate the menace of those, Govt. of India planned to develop and implement strategies to tackle issues resulting from extremity of poverty and its consequent hunger based on UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Self Help Group (SHG), being one of those strategies brought about a reduction in poverty and hunger after linking rural banks. This endeavor has positively mobilized the rural economy by decreasing poverty hurdles of socio-economically deprived section of the society. This paper highlights here the importance of such groups in the district of Birbhum in the state of West Bengal, India and seeks to spread this innovative programme at each and every corner of the underdeveloped and developing countries with utmost care considering it as exclusive strategy of poverty eradication.

The paper describes the mitigating effect of self-help groups in India during and post covid-19 situation. The study examines the potential opportunities and challenges concerning the contextual differences across and within the countries. Self-help group has been important in empowering its members by providing opportunities for livelihood support and income generator during the covid-19 situation. The self-help group played a very important role during the covid-19 situation as half of the SHG was involved in community awareness and infection prevention activities in their community. The study identifies a potential mechanism through which women's groups may be affected by covid-19 situations. JEL Classification Codes: G21, I3.

Abstract This case study tells the story of the village of Kandhkelgaon in Saintala Block, Bolangir district, Orissa, India, and the role that aquaculture and fisheries can play in the livelihoods of people who are poor in eastern India. It describes how women who could no longer make a living from weaving formed a self-help group (SHG) to start aquaculture activities and how success came, not just through income generation but also by reducing the cost of being poor by achieving access to more financial products such as life insurance and savings. The story highlights the influences that constrain and enhance development, including the value of social capital, the struggle for entitlements, and the sheer bravery and entrepreneurial spirit of people who are poor.

The purpose of this study to determine the utilization of ZIS funds by LAZ Al-Azhar Surabaya in community groups in Laharpang Hamlet through economic empowerment. The research is descriptive qualitative with the case study method.LAZ Al-Azhar by using qualitative method. interviews were conducted with five respondents consisting of two parties from LAZ Al-Azhar and three group members. The data used are primary data and secondary data. The results of the study indicate that the utilization of Al-Azhar ZIS LAZ funds in the Lamor Kelud Sejahtera Community Self-Help Group (SHG) was carried out through the Million Empowerment Program. Empowerment of SHG provided is in the form of assistance, supervision, capital loans, and Joint Business Groups (KUB). This is evidenced by the increase in revenue mustahiq, smoothness installment payments as well as the ability to sadaqah.Keywords: Utilization of Zakat Infaq Shadaqa, LAZ Al-Azhar, Empowerment, Lamor Kelud Sejahtera KSM.

The spearhead of PNPM Mandiri Perkotaan (National Program Of CommunityEmpowwrment-Urban Project) in economic field is the Financial Management Unit which istrusted to distribute the venture capital to expecially the poor people. However, there havebeen many indications that what is faced by the Financial Management Unit (FMU) of theNational Program of Community Empowerment (NPCE) is related to either the people habitor thought which may become the psychological factors for the community in proposing foraloan. This research is aimed at knowing the effect of such psychological factors asmotivation, perception , the teaching, personality, and attitude on the the decision making topropose a loan to FMU_NPCE Urban Project in Mataram. This research is conducted bythe FMU-NPCE Urban Project Mataram in six subdistricts of Mataram, Ampenan,Cakranegara, Selaparang, Sandubaya, and Sekarbela. This research is an associativeresearch related to 100 respondents of Self-help Communiy Group. The respondents areselected through cluster-sampling. The data are collected through questionnaire and thenanalyzed with multiple regression analysis (MRA) using SPSS program. The researchshowed that motivation, perception, the teaching, personality, and the attitude prositivelyand significantly affect the decision. This research also showed that motivation dominantlyaffect the decision to propose a loan to FMU-NPCE Urban Project in Mataram.Keywords :Motivation, Perception, The teaching, Personality, and decision to have loan.
