Kashmir valley water bodies have water with alkaline character (Ph 7.1-8.9),the high values of pH being the result of photosynthetic activity from phytoplanktons. The vertical gradient of dissolved oxygen concentrations differs from one waterbody to another throughout the year. These waterbodies have highest Ionic conc. with reference to Calcium and Phosphate dominating among Anions and Cations and high conc. of Mg 3.9-8.1mg/Lwith alkalinity values of 4-376mg/L. Conductivity was 100-230µs.Due to increased abundance of phytoplanktonic activity there was an increase in Oxygen saturation and pH but there was a depletion of conductivity (due to precipitation of calcium carbonate), nutrients like NO3, N and reactive silica. The variations in time and depth of other chemical species confirm the periods of water mixing indicated by oxygen and temperature and pH values.

Water quality assessment has been carried out in the Hakaluki Haor of greater Sylhet district during May, 2013 to February, 2014. Water samples were collected from 5 spots during 4 seasons and a total of 15 physico-chemical parameters were studied. Significant seasonal variation was observed in all seasons among physico-chemical parameters. pH values varied from 5.9 - 7.1, water temperature varied from 23.7 – 26.7OC, transference varied from 23-53 cm, TSS varied from 18.1-192 mg/l, TDS varied 25-193.5 mg/l, EC varied from 30-680 ?s/cm , DO content of water varied from 4.6 - 5.6mg/l, BOD varied from 0.2-2.614 mg/l, COD varied from 38-312 mg/l, NO3-N varied from 0.1-30.4 mg/l, NH3 varied from 0.9-2.18 mg/l, alkalinity varied from 12-42 mg/l and PO4 varied from 0.9 -13.4 (mg/l). Abstract The aim of the conducted research was the evaluation of the influence of increased pH on the content and mobility of nickel in arable soils in the surroundings of Małogoszcz Cement Plant. The physico-chemical properties of the investigated soils were determined by the methods commonly used in soil laboratories. The total content of Ni was determined after mineralization in the mixture of HF and HClO4 acids, and the content of forms available for plants, after the extraction with DTPA solution, using ASA method. The investigated soils are characterized as loamy sands or sands (PTG 2008). These soils have the content of C-organic in the range of 10.3.24.2 g·kg-1 in the surface horizons and 8.3.20.3 g·kg-1 in the subsurface horizons. The pH values allow to classify these soils as alkaline. In all of the investigated soils calcium carbonate occurs. The values of total content of nickel were in the range of 1.47.2.82 mg·kg-1 in surface horizons and 1.80.2.45 mg·kg-1 in subsurface horizons, which allows to classify these soils as soil with natural nickel content. The content of Ni-DTPA were in the range of 0.06.0.26 mg·kg.1. The sequential analysis of the obtained results indicates on significant statistically positive correlation between the total content of Ni and C-organic, which has the value of 0.648143 and between the content of Ni-DTPA and the content of fraction with Ø<0.002 mm, with the value of 0.581113 on p=0.05.

This study was aimed at evaluating the physico-chemical properties, antifungal and anti-sprouting efficacy of Moringa oleifera and Sesame indicum seed oil extracts. Physico-chemical parameters were determined and compared for both oils. There was significant (p < 0.05) difference observed between the refractive values (1.4570 and 1.4633), free fatty acid (FFA) (2.04 and 3.21 mg KOHg-1), acid values (6.08 and 6.43 mg KOHg-1), pH values (4.55 and 5.33), saponification values (210.75 and 215.57 mg of KOHg-1), peroxide values (5.40 and 5.80 meqO2/kg), specific gravity (0.8897 to 0.9161 g/cm3) and yield (8.25% and 32.02%) for cold press extracts of Sesame and Moringa seed oils respectively. In vitro antifungal efficacy of both oils (M. oleifera and S. indicum) against Aspergillus niger shows a range of 43.63% to 58.18% inhibition. No anti-sprouting effect was recorded across all concentrations tested for the two oils. However, the antifungal potential of both seed oil extracts (Moringa and Sesame) exhibited moderate inhibitory properties with the highest percentage inhibition at 48 hrs.

The study of physico-chemical parameters in fish ponds in Candaba, Pampanga was conducted to determine the quality of water for fish pond from July to August, 2014. Water samples were tested in-situ using probe meter: Thermo Orion Model A920. The results showed variation in the observed parameters at the different sampling stations and two sampling dates. Temperature ranged from 29±16.74 to 35.23±1.01˚C. pH values were 8.70±5.02 to 9.57±1.11. Dissolved oxygen values were 5.20±3 to 7.57±0.77mg/l. Electrical conductivity ranged from 220±0.01 to 489±0.57µS/cm. The values for temperature and DO were higher than accepted values for fish culture while those of other parameters favored for good fish production. The observations in this study suggest that fish production in some fish ponds of Candaba, Pampanga could be practiced without adverse effects posed by the quality of water.
