The ability of Indonesian computer practitioners in making business applications programs which are both internet-based and non-internet-based is already satisfactory. Their work can be viewed from a variety of business applications commissioned by many local, national and international levels. The problem often encountered is the lack of project management at the company maker of project business applications. It may affect the availability of adequate documentation as part of the project output. In this paper the author recommends software developing using a concept by McConnell (1996) that depends on the project’s characteristics and scope. McConnell is one of the mainstays of Microsoft experts who experiences many years as a project leader software made by the company. The object of this paper is to study several beginner companies of software developer in Jakarta. The software coverage is especially for profit company and both internet-based and non internet-based applications. From a comparison of several projects it is found that that late delivery often occur since the methid is implemented less stringent. This study is expected to be useful for other novice developers who get difficulty in submission software on time, right cost and right quality at the scope of the software that has been agreed.

As the non-profit sector becomes increasingly dependent on projects to achieve its strategic goals, the use of formal project management processes can help to demonstrate to stakeholders that an organisation is taking steps to improve its performance. However the adoption of processes drawn from the for-profit sector does not always yield the desired results. In particular existing performance management systems and quality management systems are unsuitable for the implementation, measurement, and improvement of project management practices in the sector. A new model is therefore proposed for non-profit project management performance assessment. This is based on a conceptual analysis of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) business excellence model, a project management performance assessment model used primarily in for-profit environments, and an assessment of criteria particular to non-profit organisations. The model is multi-dimensional, flexible, and accounts for multiple stakeholder views. After using it, non-profit organisations can reflect on their performance, create an improvement plan, and use the model again to test their progress.

In this article, we review and summarize the literature on crossfunctional organization forms that has been published since 1976. We focus on the commonalities of the literatures that deal with matrix organization and project management. With a definition of cross-functional organization in hand, we review the literature for advantages and disadvantages of these organization forms, ending the section with a discussion of the great needfor empirical research to resolve numerous questions and paradoxes. Finally, we review a model for effective cross-functional organizations, comprising environmental influences, organizational characteristics, project characteristics, project team characteristics, project leader characteristics, and project effectiveness. Each section ends with a discussion of needed research, and the article ends with a call for research and theory building regarding cross-functional organizations, which continue to grow in application importance.

A construction project is a form of activity that takes place within a limited period of time, with certain resources to achieve the results of a certain form of building or infrastructure. The success of a project is assessed by the suitability of the schedule, cost and quality planned in the contract. In the implementation of construction projects there are often delays caused by the parties involved or from influencing factors. This study discusses material analysis, labor, and project management on the timeliness of housing projects in the Cibubur Indonesia. Delay in project implementation has an influence on planned budget changes. This research aims to find the dominant factor causing delays in housing projects in the Cibubur Indonesia. This research is a survey research which is a study that takes a sample from a population using questionnaires and interviews as a data collection tool that is distributed to respondents, where the number of respondents is 31 (thirty one) in the Cibubur area housing project. This study concludes that the dominant factors causing delays are as follows: (1) Late delivery of materials, (2) Limited number of workers, (3) Poor project land conditions, (4) Weak project management and implementation by contractors. The cause of the delay can be controlled by using anticipatory and preventive measures. The action was taken to overcome the impact due to the dominant factor that could cause the delay. This research is expected to be beneficial for contractor service business providers and project owners as the housing developer, so that the project can be anticipated and the next project can run according to the planned times.

The need to empower scholars as well as the general public to practice Open Scholarship has been a recurring theme in public scholarly discourse of the last decade and beyond. Still, the tools and platforms required to make this a reality are usually in the hands of - often US-based - for-profit companies. And while there do exist a lot of specialized platforms out there, publicly funded and -hosted training, project management, and scholarly communications platforms are close to non-existent. With this post, we want to open a discussion about how an open networked scholarly infrastructure for learning, teaching and scholarly communications for Open Scholarship could look like.

The article discusses the possibilities of implementing flexible project management methods to ensure the effectiveness of projects in the hospitality industry. The Project Leader should encourage each participant to abandon his or her approved behavior model in order to promptly resolve any issues that may arise during the implementation of the project and to respond to internal objections. As the hotel business is customer-centric, providing end-to-end services is not possible through standard management of individual customer requirements. Therefore, this study aims to determine the feasibility of using the methodology by identifying several criteria for project management (APM) in the hotel business.

The software tools for PLM and project management are often built around several classical concepts: Processes, Activities, Phases, Artefacts, Workflows, Resources and Relationships. This approach does not really consider the team concept and the particular dynamics of the project management. This leads to a paradox with PLM and project management software tools. They tend to reduce risk and improve performance by structuring, streamlining, automating and scheduling projects without considering projects are not well-structured and have their own dynamic. The negation of project management mode increases the risks of project failures, adds stress to team members and requires the addition of complex mechanisms of collaboration and delegation. PLM Software sometimes becomes a limitation for project management. Our partner, LASCOM, a French PLM software developer, decided to make evolve its solutions to provide customers more efficient PLM solutions. LASCOM initiated a reflection around new concepts for enrich its existing models and tools since few years. The company particularly has an interest on the practical use of the concepts of roles and contexts. This paper deals with the addition of these concepts in the models used by LASCOM. This addition is intended to partially solve the problems posed by the generalization of work by project in organizations.

Various for-profit as well as not-for-profit organizations offer educational opportunities for project managers. Often, these are generic (not industry-specific) as the goal is to attract a wide audience of students. Examples include Six Sigma and the Project Management Professional ® program. Although students may be granted an opportunity to research their own industry as part of the curriculum, these programs generally do not focus on clinical research project management skills in particular. Therefore, it can be difficult for Clinical study managers/clinical project managers, and others within the clinical research field, to find appropriate training opportunities. This aim of the study was to provide valuable information on some of the primary available educational opportunities that exist for those entering the clinical research management workforce, or who are otherwise interested in expanding their knowledge in this field.

This case focuses on the development of information systems for not-for-profit volunteer-based organizations. Specifically, we discuss an information system project for the Volunteer Center of Racine (VCR). This case targets the analysis and design phase of the project using the Unified Modeling Language (UML) methodology, database modeling, and aspects of project management including scope and risk management. Students must decide how to proceed, including recommending an IT solution, managing risk, managing scope, projecting a schedule, and managing personnel. The rewards and special issues involved with systems for not-for-profit organizations will be revealed. This case can be used in a variety of courses, including systems analysis and design, database management systems, and project management.
