Abstract Generally, when evaluating the resilience of infrastructure, the four properties of resilience robustness, rapidity, resources, and redundancy (4Rs) are widely considered. However, there is little research on the resilience assessment of sewer networks. Therefore, to establish a framework to evaluate sewer network resilience under the perspective of urban ground collapse prevention, this study considers the 13 second-level detailed indicators corresponding to the 4 first-level indicators (4Rs) based on literature reviews and experts' opinions. An analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is used to obtain relative weights of each indicator and a weighted sum method (WSM) is used to evaluate sewer network resilience index (SRI). The evaluation system was applied to 8 small blocks of selected drainage areas in Seoul, South Korea, and the SRI of 8 small blocks are computed. This study could help the sewer management department to make decisions and manage sewer network assets that enhance the resilience of the sewer networks.

Product evaluation is very important for product improvement and development, and subjective product evaluation determines customer’s evaluation of products to some extent, so the purpose of this study is to establish a reasonable subjective product evaluation system. In this study, we comprehensively determine the evaluation indexes based on Kansei engineering (KE), establish an overall product evaluation system by using analytic hierarchy process (AHP), and establish the subjective product evaluation system by classifying the evaluation indexes in the overall product evaluation system into “objective evaluation index” and “subjective evaluation index”, removing the objective evaluation indexes, and retaining the subjective evaluation indexes. Additionally, we select some modern chairs as experimental samples to verify the reliability and validity of this subjective product evaluation system by means of questionnaires. The experimental results show that, in this subjective product evaluation system, the subjective evaluation of the product is positively correlated with the “favorite” level of the product in comprehensive evaluation, and negatively correlated with the “least favorite” level of the product in comprehensive evaluation, indicating that this subjective product evaluation system realizes a symmetry between subjective product evaluation and comprehensive product evaluation. Therefore, it can be concluded that this subjective product evaluation system based on KE and AHP proposed in this study has reliability and validity, and can be used for product evaluation to judge the popularity of products and enhance the competitiveness of products.

The surface quality is always the crucial element of machined quality in precision ultra-precision metal cutting. A new concept that the surface integrity should include the edge quality of parts is put forward In this paper, the weight value of a series of characteristic parameters of surface integrity are calculated with using analytic hierarchy process, three basic methods of evaluating surface integrity are presented, and the comprehensive evaluation system has been formed which will theoretically play a great important role on rapid development in the precision machining.

In the paper the fuzzy extension of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) based on fuzzy numbers, and its application in solving a practical problem, are considered. The paper advocates the use of contradictory test to check the fuzzy user preferences during fuzzy AHP decision-making process. We also propose consistency check and deriving priorities from inconsistent fuzzy judgment matrices to be included in the process, in order to check if the fuzzy approach can be applied in the AHP for the problem considered. An aggregation of local priorities obtained at different levels into composite global priorities for the alternatives based on weighted-sum method is also discussed. The contradictory fuzzy judgment matrix is analyzed. Our theoretical consideration has been verified by an application of commercially available Super Decisions program (developed for solving multi-criteria optimization problems using AHP approach) on the problem previously treated in the literature. The obtained results are compared with those from the literature. The conclusions are given and the possibilities for further work in the field are pointed out.

Chinese expressway construction security situation is grim at present. Based on the index system, determining the importance of every factor on each level by the experts scoring method and 1-9 scale law. A expressway construction security evaluation system is designed and developed using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the modern computer-aided technology, and finally validated. The results show that this system accurately indicated the safety situation of expressway construction, and realize systematism, standardization and automatization of safety evaluation.

Many companies recently have been choosing information technology (IT) outsourcing in response to complicated information systems and various internal requirements. In order to monitor and maintain a high quality of IT outsourcing vendors’ services, it is necessary to develop a system to evaluate IT outsourcing customer satisfaction. The system can be used as a tool for choosing IT outsourcing providers. Through the literature reviews and expert interviews, we propose the evaluation system of the IT outsourcing customer satisfaction. Using AHP (analytic hierarchy process) technique, attributes associated with customer satisfaction in IT outsourcing environments are then rated in terms of their importance. The customer satisfaction evaluation system is applied to IT outsourcing service receivers in Korea to demonstrate its practical implications.

Starting from the development status of the lifting machinery industry, this paper analyzes the data about safety accidents of bridge cranes, and identifies the assessment indicators affecting the safety performance of bridge cranes based on fault tree analysis (FTA), including fatigue factors, human factors, environmental factors, and management factors. Then, the weights of safety evaluation indicators are determined based on analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Finally, the safety evaluation system is established and demonstrated with use case diagram and role flow chart.
