Descritores: Enfermagem; Teleorientação; Hipertensão; Coronavírus; Pandemia.RESISTANT HYPERTENSIVE TELEORIENTATION DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC: AN INNOVATIVE ACTION IN NURSINGObjective: to report on the use of teleorientation by nursing as a strategy directed to hypertensive patients in social isolation under the care of a specialized outpatient clinic. Methodology: this is an experience report about teleorientation with 110 hypertensive patients, from April 02 to 07, 2020 by nurses and nursing students, using a spreadsheet and a “guide text”, aiming at active listening , composed of questions about health condition monitoring and self-care in the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: of the 110 hypertensive patients, 53 (48.2%) were contacted, while 57 (51.8%) had no contact for operational reasons of telephony. Among those contacted, there was a predominance of women (70%) and 63% (33) aged ≥ 60 years. Regarding the reports, feelings, clinical complications, two probable cases of contamination by the virus, aspects of difficulty in maintaining social distance due to socioeconomic need and the importance of reinforcing flu vaccination for hypertensive patients stand out. Final Considerations: the teleorientation used by nursing became a strategy and an innovative action directed at hypertensive people in social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, and points to a valuable moment of contact, of approach, in which information, feelings are shared and expectations.Descriptors: Nursing; Teleorientation; Hypertension; Coronavirus; Pandemic. About 5,7% of the Italian population is affected by T2DM, reaching a prevalence of 20% in people older than 75. According to several studies, T2DM has a social value, which leads to more imbalances in people who have a lower responsiveness, a difficulty in changing consolidated habits in more suitable behaviours. In such a scenery, the adherence to the nutritional therapy is about 35%, both co-pro-tagonists shaping up to be “losers”: the discouraged professional asking himself “why doesn’t he do what I told him?”, the patient with a health condition which has not improved. The difficulty in foreground consists in supporting a complex patient with a disease which “cannot be seen or felt”, whose seriousness may not be understood. The narrations which the patient does about the Diabetes make the picture even more complex, narrations reported by friends, relatives, confirmed by “Doctor Google”, filled with incorrect and untrustworthy pieces of information. Inside this picture, it may be useful to adopt a modality of leading the meeting based on the aware and strategic employment of communication, words and relationship; these tools do not find their place within the university course of the healthcare professionals: such modality may be the Nutritional Counseling. Exploration, active listening, avoidance of the barrier modes and of the psychological reactance, choice of the appropriate questions are just a few of the communicative techniques, typical of the Nutritional Counseling, which improve the ability of establishing the relationship with the patients, raising the adherence to the nutritional therapy. Through the Nutritional Counseling techniques it becomes possible to shift from the prescription of what patients have to do, to making possible to adopt the prescriptions making them their own; this leads to a change in the perspective which allows the patients to consider the prescriptions no more as limitations to their freedom, but as loyal travel companions in a new path. KEY WORDS diabetes; complexity; relationship; nutritional counseling.

Abstract Background Influenza causes large outbreaks every year. Professionals outside healthcare, including social care staff and non-care giving roles, have a key role in protecting their clients and sustaining operational productivity through influenza vaccination. There has been little research on non-healthcare staff working with vulnerable people and those working in non-caregiving settings regarding influenza and influenza vaccination. Aims To understand the practices, experiences, perceptions and motivations of local authority staff regarding influenza and influenza vaccination. Methods Semi-structured focus groups were carried out with local authority staff in Gloucestershire. Transcripts were thematically analysed. Results Participants tended to perceive influenza as a serious illness, where a person had a specific risk factor or during pandemics. They did not feel vulnerable unless they had previous experience of infection or had an underlying health condition. Motivation to vaccinate was based on previous experience of influenza, where they had a close family member at risk or when working directly with vulnerable clients. Beliefs about negative side effects of the vaccine were the strongest reason for vaccine refusal. Ease of access to vaccination through on-site clinics is key to uptake. Management are perceived as key motivators or blockers to vaccine uptake. Conclusions Workers outside healthcare settings do not feel vulnerable to influenza and have low motivation to vaccinate, unless they have previous experience of infection or an underlying health condition. Vaccination programmes must proactively address workers’ beliefs and motivations to ensure their participation in flu vaccination programmes.

This paper focuses on the nature of caring from the perspective of graduate nursing students enrolled in a graduate core nursing theory course. It describes student perspectives of caring derived from a two part learning exercise designed to introduce students to inductive thinking processes employed in nursing theory development. The graduate students identified the essence of caring as a special form of ‘being with’ a patient encompassing giving of self, involved presence, intuitive knowing, and support for the integrity of the patient. Nursing actions associated with caring include making time, active listening, touch, and advocacy with competence as an underlying dimension of caring actions. Attitudes deemed essential to the development of caring incorporate creativity, recognizing limitations, and respect for the uniqueness and humanity of a suffering individual. That caring has benefits for the caregiver as well as the patient finds voice in student descriptions of the effects of caring as a source of professional validation, and a transformational turning-point their perceptions of themselves as caregivers.

Due to the severe course of COVID-19, the rate of transmission, and the high risk of death, country governments have taken many measures, such as social isolation, to reduce the rate of transmission. This study, it is aimed to reveal the effect of the social isolation process caused by the COVID-19 pandemic on the romantic relationships of individuals. In this correlational study, 540 people (n=433 females, n=107 males) who had a romantic relationship in Turkey were reached by random sampling method. The participants were given the Sociodemographic Information Form and the Anxiety in Romantic Relationships During the Covid-19 Pandemic Period. Validity and reliability analyzes of the scale were made. Romantic relationships of the Covid-19 pandemic process have been determined that it affects women more than men, those with low education levels more than those with higher levels, and those with short relationships than those with long-term relationships. At the same time, it was concluded that those who live separately are more affected than those who live together, those who avoid sexuality are more affected than those who do not, and those who apply social distance rules at home are more affected than those who do not apply social distance rules at home. The research has some limitations. The scale was applied online to 540 people and reached a limited number of people. The results need to be supported by different studies.
