Introduction. Lung cancer is a malignant tumor that comes from epithelial cells. It is one of the most common cancers in both men and women. As we get older, the number of cases and deaths increases. The main factor in the incidence of lung cancer is smoking. In the initial stage of the disease lung cancer is most often asymptomatic, therefore there is a low detection of this cancer. By the application of early prophylaxis and appropriately selected therapy it is possible to avoid an increase in lung cancer morbidity and deaths. Aim. The purpose of this work is to define the tasks of a nurse in the care of a lung cancer patient using ICNP®. Case study. A 76-year-old patient in the pulmonary ward complains about chronic chest pain and exercise dyspnea. The patient is a long-standing smoker. The patient requires education about the disease and self-care and help in everyday activities. Due to the planned diagnosis and treatment, the patient feels anxiety and anxiety. Conclusions. Background: Health care organizations around the globe have been implementing different strategies aimed at improving their care systems to obtain better patient–physician interaction and resolve underlying issues leading to patient dissatisfaction. In an effort to improve continuity of care inside a network of interdisciplinary teams, the Ministry of Health and Social Services of Québec has implemented the recruitment of pivot nurses in oncology services. Aim: To determine whether continuous nursing care for lung cancer patients, compared with standard care, yields more improvements in terms of patient satisfaction and quality of life. Methods: This study was conducted at the Notre Dame University Hospital in Montreal. Patients were selected from the outpatient admissions' list, three months after the start of their treatment, and divided into two cohorts: the continuity of care (CC) cohort, where patients were followed by a PNO, and the usual care (UC) cohort, who received standard care from the oncology clinic staff. Participants in both groups completed the Princess Margaret Hospital Patient Satisfaction with Doctor Questionnaire (PMH/PSQ-MD), the FACT-L Scale for quality of life assessment and questions evaluating the understanding of their health status and disease. Another ten questions were dressed specifically to the CC in regards to nursing care and the health care system in Quebec. Results: The current study has shown a significant impact of implicating a PNO in the care of patients with advanced lung cancer. Patients in the CC cohort displayed better quality of life assessment scores and expressed higher levels of satisfaction compared with their peers in the UC cohort. Other variables examined revealed an adequate fulfillment of the PNO role as regarded by the participants, except for matters of an intimate nature. Conclusion: The PNO appears to have an substantial role in the care of patients with advanced lung cancer. Continuity of care seems to improve patients' quality of life and satisfaction by reducing the symptom strain experienced by ambulatory patients.

Women's empowerment program in Indonesia has essentially been started since 1978. In its development, this effort has resulted in improvement in various ways. Some examples of the improvement are the improvement in conditions, degrees, and quality of life of women in various strategic sectors such as education, employment, economy, health, and family planning participation. Improvement in the empowerment process does not necessarily change the pattern of gender relations between men and women. To improve gender equality in the economy, women's economic actors need to be empowered. The purpose of this study is to examine the appropriate empowerment model for women in the informal sector. This is a case study involving observation, interviews, and Focus Group Discussion. The results of the study showed that women in the informal sector are not yet independent even though they have obtained facilitation from the government. The absence of government’s assistance in managing business resulted in the limited empowerment activities carried out by the government. This research offers a model of economic empowerment for women towards independence in economic activities.

Purpose Misophonia is a sound tolerance disorder condition in certain sounds that trigger intense emotional or physiological responses. While some persons may experience misophonia, a few patients suffer from misophonia. However, there is a dearth of literature on audiological assessment and management of persons with misophonia. The purpose of this report is to discuss the assessment of misophonia and highlight the management option that helped a patient with misophonia. Method A case study of a 26-year-old woman with the complaint of decreased tolerance to specific sounds affecting quality of life is reported. Audiological assessment differentiated misophonia from hyperacusis. Management included retraining counseling as well as desensitization and habituation therapy based on the principles described by P. J. Jastreboff and Jastreboff (2014). A misophonia questionnaire was administered at regular intervals to monitor the effectiveness of therapy. Results A detailed case history and audiological evaluations including pure-tone audiogram and Johnson Hyperacusis Index revealed the presence of misophonia. The patient benefitted from intervention, and the scores of the misophonia questionnaire indicated a decrease in the severity of the problem. Conclusions It is important to differentially diagnose misophonia and hyperacusis in persons with sound tolerance disorders. Retraining counseling as well as desensitization and habituation therapy can help patients who suffer from misophonia.
