We define community education as organized lifelong learning through voluntary participation in collective efforts to critically address both individual and community needs. Community education has roots in European folk schools, United States participatory democracy, and Latin American “popular education.” Community education developed more recently in China in response to Learning Society and Lifelong Education policy. We present a new framework of community education that includes a theoretical component, emphasizing learning and participation principles. The organizational component includes traditional and nontraditional schools and other local organizations engaged in community education. The program component includes community service, empowerment, and combined models. We also apply the framework to an ecological-psychopolitical model of community education, which considers multilevel (individual, organizational, community/societal) processes of liberation or empowerment across four environmental domains or forms of capital: sociocultural, physical, economic and political. We conclude by examining two brief ethnographic case studies of community education in Shanghai, China.

Kata Kunci : family centered empowerment model; kecemasan; keluarga; strokeAnxiety Reduction Of  Family Patients With Stroke And Family Empowerment Centered ModelAbstractStroke is a condition that occurs due to disruption of blood supply to the brain which has a sudden onset, rapid progression in the form of a focal neurological deficit that lasts 24 hours or immediately causes death. The impact of stroke in addition to the patient also causes psychological effects of anxiety for the patient's family from the family's unpreparedness in caring for stroke patients. Anxiety in the family can be overcome by providing education based on the family centered empowerment model. This study was aimed to determine the decrease in family anxiety of stroke patients with the family centered empowerment model at Gambiran Hospital, Kediri City. The research design used a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest and posttest design. The Sampling was taken by non-probability sampling with accidental sampling technique, totaling 54 people. Data was collected using the HARS anxiety questionnaire and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The results showed the value of p = 0.000 which means that there is an effect of family centered empowerment model on reducing family anxiety of stroke patients.Key Word: family centered empowerment model; anxiety; family; stroke

Abstract Background: Taking care of patients with Covid-19 is regarded as a challenging task for family caregivers. A family-centered empowerment model (FCEM) should help them achieve greater psychological strength in the care process. Methods: Seventy caregivers were randomized to FCEM (n= 35) or control (n= 35). The four-stage of FCEM in four online sessions through WhatsApp was provided to the intervention group from the patient's discharge until 2 weeks later. The demographic information questionnaire and Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 were employed both before and five days after the FCEM sessions to gather the necessary data. Results: Caregivers included 55.8% women and 44.2% men, with a mean age of 42.5 years. The results demonstrated a substantial difference in the average score of stress (p=0.023), anxiety (p=0.003), and depression (p=0.012).Conclusions: The combination of a face-to-face orientation session and online methods of FCEM is likely to lower stress, anxiety, and depression among caregivers. It can be contributed to the practicability, simplicity, and effectiveness of the intervention.Clinical Trial Registration code: This study (IRCT20180429039463N2) was registered in Iranian Registry of Clinical Trial on 10/04/2020

This study investigates the four psychological empowerment dimensions (competence, impact, meaning, and self-determination) and how they impact job satisfaction. Employee empowerment innovatively boosts the performance and capabilities of the organizations. This study is significant in the background of the Libyan banking sector working under uncertain conditions since the start of the Libyan civil war. This study proposed a theoretical framework with four hypotheses that established a relationship between competence, impact, meaning, self-determination, and job satisfaction. The study used a quantitative design to test the theoretical model using the psychological empowerment model of Spreitzer (1995) and job satisfaction with the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ). Five hundred thirty (530) questionnaires were distributed to 25 branches of banks in Libya and received 333 responses, out of which 327 were valid for the analysis. The data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) using Partial Least Squares (PLS), aided by Smartpls 3 software. The results indicated that competence was insignificant with job satisfaction and all other three dimensions were positive and significant with job satisfaction even in the bureaucratic organizational structures. It is also interesting to note that lower and middle-level managers have the self-belief to contribute despite influencing the strategies.

Background: Developing a chronic disease, like heart failure in older adults disrupts the foundations of the family and imposes a heavy burden on family members. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the Family-Centered Empowerment Model (FCEM) on the care burden of family caregivers of older adults with heart failure. Methods: It was a quasi-experimental study with a controlled before and after design, which was conducted on 80 primary caregivers of older adults with heart failure referring to health centers affiliated with Kashan University of Medical Sciences, Kashan, Iran. The subjects were non-randomly assigned to either the control (n=40) or intervention (n=40) groups. The program was implemented based on the concepts of the model (perceived threat, self-efficacy, self-esteem, and evaluation) in eight 2-hour sessions, twice a week for four consecutive weeks. Both groups answered the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) in the beginning, in the end, and one month after the study. The data were analyzed by Chi-square, t-test, and the repeated measures ANOVA using SPSS v. 16 software. Results: There was no significant difference between the two groups regarding the pretest mean score of care burden (P>0.05). However, the groups’ mean score of care burden was significantly different immediately after the intervention (P<0.05) and one month after the study (P<0.05). The repeated measures ANOVA illustrated a significant difference between the mean scores of care burden in the three measurement time points (P<0.0001). Conclusion: Implementation of the FCEM model reduces the burden of care in caregivers of older adults with heart failure. It is suggested that this model be used in training programs for older adults with heart failure and their caregivers.

Abstract SDGs number 5 is a goal for women to increase their participation in the country’s economic development. There are many sectors where women can develop and have an impact on a country’s development. Among the many existing development sectors, agriculture is one of the sectors with the most contribution to Indonesia’s GDP. It is from the fact that Indonesia is a country that is rich in natural resources. However, there are still many Indonesian farmers, especially women, who live in poverty. Therefore, empowerment is an alternative to improve their standard of living. This study will examine the empowerment model among women farmers, at least in the agricultural sector in the area where they live. The research method used is a literature study. The results will show the pattern of empowerment formed among groups of women farmers in several regions in Indonesia. This pattern will explain how empowerment developed so that the participation of women farmers in economic development can increase in the future.

Background: Nowadays, the high prevalence of hypertension and its serious complications for affected patients have made this disease a major health issue worldwide. Hypertension, like other chronic diseases, reduces the patients’ quality of life. Maintaining and improving their lifestyles requires the serious support of families. Objectives: This study aimed to explore the effect of the family-centered empowerment model on the quality of life of patients with hypertension. Methods: This clinical trial was performed on 70 hypertensive patients who were referred to two comprehensive health centers in Zahedan University of Medical Sciences in Zahedan, southeastern Iran, in 2020. The participants were selected and randomly allocated based on the inclusion criteria to the intervention (n = 35) and control (n = 35) groups using the consort. The participants in the intervention group received training in four 60-min sessions individually based on the family empowerment model. To collect data, a personal information form and the Quality of Life Questionnaire for hypertensive patients were used. The questionnaire was completed before the intervention and one and three months after the intervention by a self-report method. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS-22 using the independent samples t test, chi-square test, and repeated-measures analysis of variance. Results: The results of repeated-measures analysis of variance regarding the effect of time and group on the quality of life showed a statistically significant difference in the second and third phases between the two groups. In other words, the two variables of intervention and time affected the mean score of quality of life, and a statistically significant difference was observed in the measured time intervals (P < 0.001). Conclusions: This study showed that implementing the family-centered empowerment model improves the quality of life of patients with hypertension. Therefore, we recommend employing this method by nurses to engage the patients with chronic diseases and their families in the process of treatment.

AbstractThe real contribution of fish farmer in the development of the national economy through the amount of fisheries production is not followed by the level of welfare of the fish farmer. That the welfare of fish farmers to be able to fulfill their needs with the income they obtain is still very limited. This article aims to analyze the legal empowerment model of fish farmer through the triple helix model development approach. This research is a sociolegal research which is a mixed method between legal research methods and social science. The data used are primary data and secondary data. The results showed that normatively, the role provisions of the government and fish breeders have been clearly regulated, but the provisions for tertiary institutions have not been regulated, even though the role played by universities is no less important. Higher education as one of the elements in the triple helix has human resources who are able to provide knowledge and understanding related to production sharing agreements through legal assistance and mentoring workshops. The government is responsible for the welfare of its citizens, not only acting as a regulator, but also as a facilitator, dynamist and catalyst.
