This paper discusses the knowledge transfer process in offshore outsourcing. The focus is a case study of software offshore outsourcing from Japan to Vietnam. Initial results confirm that willingness to cooperate and good impressions facilitate the knowledge transfer process. In addition, communication barriers, cultural differences, lack of equivalence in individual competence, and lack of common rules slow down the transfer process. The study also identifies the Bridge System Engineer (Bridge SE)-a type of coordinator who mediates and enhances the relationship between Japanese clients and Vietnamese service providers. Employing a Bridge SE is an effective way to fill the communication gap, the cultural gap, and generally improve the business relationship. Bridge SEs use their background of higher education and long-term residence in Japan to give advice to Vietnamese software teams on Japanese cultural characteristics, such as the apology culture and the separation between work and private time. In other situations, Bridge SEs use their IT background and communication skills to verify and adjust communication contents before information is sent from one side to another.

In the last years, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have gained increasing application and attention from both the community and actual users. WSN has many benefits such as efficiency, convenience and easy to use/control. By this benefit, the system engineer who works for manufacturing area attempt to apply the sensor network. In this paper, we study the monitoring system with wireless sensor network and its framework for manufacturing system.

This paper investigates the performances of different photovoltaic (PV) array under several shading condition. Four types of photovoltaic array configuration scheme which are ‘Series’ (S), Series-Parallel’ (SP), Total-Cross-Tied’ (TCT), and ‘Bridge-Link’ (BL) array topologies were tested by applying a 6x6 PV array under 6 different shading scenarios. The modeling is developed using Matlab/Simulink. The performances and output characteristics of photovoltaic array are compared and analyzed. System engineer can use the detailed characteristics of different array configuration to approximate the outcome power and pick the best configuration of the system by concerning the current natural condition to enhance the overall efficiency.

To respond to changes in the requirements of the information and control system, it is necessary to rebuild the system with new functions and/or systems with a different architecture. In this paper, we propose a method that enables on-site technicians to perform step-wise migration from a legacy system to a target system without having to stop the whole system and without requiring advance preparation or support from a system engineer who is an expert in system design and development. Accordingly, we aimed to develop a technology for the coexistence of and cooperation between with target and legacy systems and cooperation test between heterogeneous systems. We implemented this method and evaluated its effectiveness by applying it for rebuilding a production line management system.

Seven years ago a paper on this same subject was read before the Main Society. This has been used as a basis from which to start. It will be seen that great strides have been made in performance, and the projects in the Design Office and on the drawing boards particularly, would even satisfy parliamentary critics. In Derby, however, where jet lift was conceived, such things are well known. From the fuel system standpoint in general the changes in requirements have been routine, merely much greater fuel demands, greater altitudes and air speeds and hence, a greater range of fuel flow, and it is this which gives the fuel system engineer his greatest worries. Beyond this there is always the need for smaller and lighter units in fancy shapes.

In manufacturing system, around the year 1950’s, computer aided design (CAD) and developments of NC resulted which led to the evolution of systems like computer numerical control (CNC) and direct numerical control (DNC). Today, computer integrated manufacturing is a reality. The advent of computer integrated manufacturing system has got an efficiency and high performance for production. And manufacturing system operating ratio was related by cost-efficiency of the factory operation and increasing good production. However it has still problem that the system engineer who is in the factory hard to keep watching the manufacturing system always in order to recover the manufacturing system when it has system error. In this paper, we propose system jam detection and recovery process for manufacturing system. For this process, we make and use system Jam Database and Jam Recovery Process Sequence.

This report describes human factor engineering participation in the design of a system manager's workstation. The project entailed the integration of 6 different keyboards and a wide variety of display subsystems into a single keyboard and 5 CTR displays. Due to the complexity of the system a team approach to the design was taken which entailed instructing and guiding experts in the use of human factors principles in the development of designs. The results were well received by a review committee of system experts while being developed within an extremely time compressed schedule.
