BACKGROUND: Many companies are forced to restructure themselves by right sizing due to unexpected fall in demand for their products and services created by the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID 19 not only affected the health of human beings but also their wealth across the world. Global economic parameters are showing a sign of positive growth with decreased number of COVID 19 cases across the world. Many companies are in a dilemma to rehire their former employees or to hire the new candidates to meet the increased demand. OBJECTIVES: The objectives of study are i) to analyze the key drivers for boomerang hiring and ii) to develop a conceptual process for boomerang hiring. METHODS: An exploratory methodology was designed to identify the key drivers of boomerang hiring by studying the various successful stories of those companies which had rehired their former employees. Various papers were reviewed to develop the process for boomerang hiring. RESULTS: Study showed that knowledge about the culture of the company, cost of hiring, morale booster for the existing employees, and customer retention, are the key drivers for boomerang hiring. This hiring process requires special skills from HR Managers, as this decision will impact long term success of the company. CONCLUSION: The process of boomerang hiring cannot be standardized as each organization culture is different and companies cannot have the same strategy for each candidate as every individual is different. Boomerang hiring will work as the right strategy during pandemic situation as former employees would have built relations with the customers. The customers will be happy to see the former employees who had served them better.

Environmental problems are enormous around the world and threaten the global environment. In most cases, these problems are caused by rapid growth of population and poverty. Climate change and sustainable development are inter-linked and are priority issues in the development continuum. Any adverse impact on the environment and biodiversity can cause the restriction of resources and limit available options. Concerted efforts of all the states can bring positive result to address the effects of climate change. Compliance with the treaty provision and sharing of resources and actions among the states can ensure proper utilization of resources and sustainable development.

The Republic of Turkey represents solid business opportunities for both Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and domestic enterprises. Abstract COVID-19 affected the pursuit of sustainable development in multifaceted ways. This study presents eight clusters of perceived impact of the pandemic and duration of respective impact that constantly developed ‘new normal’ to cope with unprecedented disruptions. The exploratory research applied the bottom-up approach where Concept System® Global MAX™ software facilitated online brainstorming to generate diverse opinions. Gen Z individuals were prompted with the following excerpt, ‘The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the world and led to unprecedented change. How do you believe this has impacted either positively or negatively, the global pursuit of sustainable development?’ Their opinions were analysed and reduced to generate unique statements for subsequent data collection, where participants sorting the items into thematic clusters before rating each of them. Subsequently, multidimensional scaling and cluster analysis is performed using Concept System® to propose eight-cluster solutions. In the pursuit of sustainability, this study suggested that the pandemic have contribute positive Impacts on environment and Development of ICT infrastructure, while highlighting negative and long-term Impacts on Economy and Impacts on Wellbeing on overall. This community-based participatory research provides explicit recommendation in prioritising response for managing the unprecedented effects of the pandemic.

Development, leading to the depletion of resources, in modern conditions is not seen as long-term and sustainable. Accordingly, national strategies for security, long-term and territorial development of the countries of the world are being developed in accordance with the existing goals of sustainable development. This study examines the relationship of sustainable development with the goals of countries in the framework of the orientation towards the introduction of new models of economic development - a green and circular economy. The highly specialized applications of the noted models are considered, the ambiguity of the possibilities and results of their practical implementation is noted, depending on the level of development of states, the level of their incomes, social or economic priorities of their development. The advantages and disadvantages of the circular economy model are summarized.

Nearly 15 years has elapsed since the World Commission on Environment and Development—the so-called Brundtland Commission—popularized the idea of “sustainable development.” The phrase turned out to be unusually slippery, providing both political cover and ammunition for almost anyone engaged in debates about the global environment and/or development. Indeed, scholars and policymakers of all theoretical or ideological stripes found creative ways to employ the phrase “sustainable development” to support a wide array of arguments in these discussions.
