Price is the most effective profit driver. In recent years we have seen a wave of innovations in pricing driven by technology. The internet, big data, and artificial intelligence enable the implementation of complex price structures, individualized pricing, ongoing time-based adjustments and performance-based pricing. Prices are increasingly expanding into areas such as the environment, traffic, social services and education. Pricing such services may be politically expedient but can lead to social tensions.

With the rise of the internet and the related explosion in the amount of data that are available, the field of data science has expanded rapidly, and analytic techniques designed for use in “big data” contexts have become popular. These include techniques for analyzing both structured and unstructured data. This chapter explores the application of these techniques to the development and evaluation of career pathways. For example, data scientists can analyze online job listings and resumes to examine changes in skill requirements and careers over time and to examine job progressions across an enormous number of people. Similarly, analysts can evaluate whether information on career pathways accurately captures realistic job progressions. Within organizations, the increasing amount of data make it possible to pinpoint the specific skills, behaviors, and attributes that maximize performance in specific roles. The chapter concludes with ideas for the future application of big data to career pathways.

It also describes the changes produced in the digital age by the emergence of the Web of Data, Big Data, and the Internet of Things. The convergence between Law & Society and Artificial Intelligence & Law is also discussed. Finally, we introduce briefly the articles included in this issue.

This topic presents the macro-design of SPA that will surely appear in the coming years and also the future technological trends in SPA applied to viticulture and arable crops. A vision of the future of SPA is presented in three layers: i) human intelligence (related to soil, plants, climate, pests, diseases, environment, food production, fibre and energy) on top; ii) artificial intelligence (related to hardware, communications, data) in the middle; iii) and again human intelligence on the bottom (consumers, business models, transparency, food traceability). “Big Data” challenges are discussed regarding the specific needs of agriculture. The technological groups identified in a Foresight Analysis report are discussed and the future technological trends on arable crops and vineyards are presented.
