The process of any analog system design has been formulated on the basis of the control theory application. This approach produces many different design strategies inside the same optimization procedure and allows determining the problem of the optimal design strategy existence from the computer time point of view. Different kinds of system design strategies have been evaluated from the operations number. The general methodology for the analog system design was formulated by means of the optimum control theory. The main equations for this design methodology were elaborated. These equations include the special control functions that are introduced artificially. This approach generalizes the design process and generates an infinite number of the different design strategies. The problem of the optimum design algorithm construction is defined as the minimum-time problem of the control theory. Numerical results of some electronic circuit design demonstrate the efficiency and perspective of the proposed methodology. These examples show that the computer time gain of the optimal design strategy with respect to the traditional design strategy increases when the size and complexity of the system increase. An additional acceleration effect of the design process has been discovered by the analysis of various design strategies with the different initial points. This effect is displayed for all analyzed circuits and it reduces additionally the total computer time for the system design.

The design process for analogue circuit design is formulated on the basis of the optimum control theory. The artificially introduced special control vector is defined for the redistribution of computational costs between network analysis and parametric optimization. This redistribution minimizes computer time. The problem of the minimal-time network design can be formulated in this case as a classical problem of the optimal control for some functional minimization. There is a principal difference between the new approach and before elaborated methodology. This difference is based on a higher level of the problem generalization. In this case the structural basis of design strategies is more complete and this circumstance gives possibility to obtain a great value of computer time gain. Numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness and prospects of a more generalized approach to circuit optimization. This approach generalizes the design process and generates an infinite number of the different design strategies that will serve as the structural basis for the minimal time algorithm construction. This paper is advocated to electronic systems built with transistors. The main equations for the system design process were elaborated.

The different design trajectories have been analyzed in the design space on the basis of the new system design methodology. Optimal position of the design algorithm start point was analyzed to minimize the CPU time. The initial point selection has been done on the basis of the before discovered acceleration effect of the system design process. The geometrical dividing surface was defined and analyzed to obtain the optimal position of the algorithm start point. The numerical results of the design of passive and active nonlinear electronic circuits confirm the possibility of the optimal selection of the starting point of the design algorithm.

Abstract Physical distancing is part of the design process affected by the spread of Covid-19. 4 work precedents use physical distancing due to the Covid-19 as part of the problem that must be overcome by adapting and finding new design strategies. This paper analyses a precedent study on a public space design proposal designed for post-Covid-19. This paper aims to provide an overview of the design strategy concept to become a design reference as a solution to Covid-19 Pandemic. The method used in this paper is a precedent method by analysing the case studies that relate between public space and physical distancing with placemaking and physical elements. The results of this paper show that the various functions of the public space proposal show a variety of design approaches in the form of public with considering the physical distancing.

Objective: This study assesses how architectural design strategies impact the flexibility of hospitals to change over time. Background: Most hospitals are designed for highly specialized medical functions, which is often in conflict with the need to design the hospital facility to accommodate evolvement and change of functions over time. Architectural design strategies provide different approaches to the need to design for a specific medical program while planning for its future change. Methods: The study compares two hospital buildings with a very similar configuration and medical program but with significantly different architectural design strategies: One was designed for an unknown future medical function, and the second was designed for a specific medical function. The study analyses the two hospital buildings by their design strategy, planning, design process, and construction by phases and compares their change in practice over the last twelve years. Results: The design strategy to fit a specific function limited the hospital affordance to make changes during the design process, construction, and occupancy phases. Systematic design of system separation for an unknown function, in contradiction to a “tailor-made” approach in the design for a specific function, was found to support a variety of changing medical programs. Conclusions: Architectural design strategies developed in an early stage of the design process has a major impact on the future evolution of the hospital facility. The different results between the two projects also demonstrate the greater influence of healthcare policies, hospital organization culture, and infrastructure funding models on the architecture and flexibility of hospitals.

Cyberphysical system design automation utilizing knowledge based engineering techniques with globally networked knowledge bases can tremendously improve the design process for emerging systems. Our goal is to develop a comprehensive architectural framework to improve the design process for cyberphysical systems (CPS) and implement a case study with Axiomatic Design Solutions Inc. to develop next generation toolsets utilizing knowledge-based engineering (KBE) systems adapted to multiple domains in the field of CPS design automation. The Cyberphysical System Design Automation Framework (CPSDAF) will be based on advances in CPS design theory based on current research and knowledge collected from global sources automatically via Semantic Web Services. A case study utilizing STEM students is discussed.

The article discusses methods for optimizing the design of the Neutron Converter research plant design with parameters that are most suitable for a particular consumer. 38 similar plant structures with different materials and sources were calculated, on the basis of which the most optimal options were found. As part of the interaction between OKBM Afrikantov JSC and the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R. E. Alekseev, the Neutron Converter research plant was designed and assembled. The universal neutron converter is a device for converting a stream of fast neutrons emitted by isotopic sources into a "standardized" value of flux density with known parameters in the volume of the central part of the product, which is the working part of the universal neutron converter. To supply neutron converters to other customer organizations (universities, research organizations and collective centers), it is necessary to take into account the experience of operating an existing facility, as well as rationalize the design process of each specific instance in accordance with the requirements of the customer.

Under high gravity loads, steel double-beam floor systems need to be reinforced by beam-end concrete panels to reduce the material quantity since rotational constraints from the concrete panel can decrease the moment demand by inducing a negative moment at the ends of the beams. However, the optimal design process for the material quantity of steel beams requires a time-consuming iterative analysis for the entire floor system while especially keeping in consideration the rotational constraints in composite connections between the concrete panel and steel beams. This study aimed to develop an optimal design method with the LM (Length-Moment) index for the steel double-beam floor system to minimize material quantity without the iterative design process. The LM index is an indicator that can select a minimum cross-section of the steel beams in consideration of the flexural strength by lateral-torsional buckling. To verify the proposed design method, the material quantities between the proposed and code-based design methods were compared at various gravity loads. The proposed design method successfully optimized the material quantity of the steel double-beam floor systems without the iterative analysis by simply choosing the LM index of the steel beams that can minimize objective function while satisfying the safety-related constraint conditions. In particular, under the high gravity loads, the proposed design method was superb at providing a quantity-optimized design option. Thus, the proposed optimal design method can be an alternative for designing the steel double-beam floor system.
