Abstract: It has been found that major cause of the Railways accidents is due to the derailment attributed to the cracks developed on the rails. Crack development and its prolongation happens due to regular movement of locomotives, absence of timely detection. The maintenance lapse poses serious questions on the security of Railways transport operation. Manual detection of cracks on locomotive-tracks by maintenance team is arduous task, time consuming, irregular due to environmental factors and tight scheduling of trains, which may lead to maintenance work errors. This project aims at addressing the issue of crack detection by ultrasonic crack detection system, which would work in real time, with the control action taken to avoid major accident. Ultrasonic crack detection system is mounted on the locomotive itself, include precision ultrasonic sensor, LCD display, GPS module and its power supply. System will detect crack, subsequently it will generate Visual warning-signal for the authorities and generate location coordinates of the Crack. This will help for authority to generate caution signal for locomotives running on the same track for slow movement and emergency maintenance action could be undertaken. Keywords: locomotive-track, crack, ultrasonic Sensor, GPS Module, Arduino microcontroller

- In India railways transportation service is the cheapest and most convenient mode of passenger transport as well as for long distance and suburban traffic. Almost 80% of the transport in India is being carried out by railway network. The main cause of the accidents happened in railways are railway track crossing and unidentified crack in rail tracks. About 60% accidents are happened at railway track crossing and due to crack in railway tracks resulting in loss of precious life of passengers and loss of economy. Therefore, there is a need to have new technology which will be robust, efficient and stable for both crack detection in railway track as well as object detection. This project discusses a Railway track crack detection using sensors and is a dynamic approach which combines the use of GPS tracking system and GSM module to send alert messages and the geographical coordinate of location. An Arduino Microcontroller is used to control and coordinate the activities of this device.

Introduction: The co-authors provide an overview of the main types of wind turbines and power generators installed into wind energy devices, as well as advanced technological solutions. The co-authors have identified the principal strengths and weaknesses of existing wind power generators, if applied as alternative energy sources. The co-authors have proven the need to develop an algorithm for the selection of a wind generator-based autonomous power supply system in the course of designing windmill farms in Russia. Methods: The co-authors have analyzed several types of wind turbines and power generators. Results and discussions: The algorithm for the selection of a wind generator-based autonomous power supply system is presented as a first approximation. Conclusion: The emerging algorithm enables designers to develop an effective wind generator-based autonomous power supply system.
