Abstract: Chimney, which shape the ultimate factor of a machine using a flue fuel consisting of boiler, play a vital function in maintaining performance, draft, and many others, of a gadget and additionally in minimizing the atmospheric pollution. Metal chimneys also are called steel stacks. The metallic chimneys are product of metal plates and supported on basis. The steel chimneys are used to get away and disperse the flue gases to this sort of height that the gases do not contaminate surrounding. In this thesis, chimney can be designed thinking about dead load and wind load. The bureau of Indian requirements (BIS) layout codes techniques can be used for the design of the chimney. The chimney turned into considered as a cantilever beam with annular cross segment. 3-D version of the chimney is finished in pro/engineer and matched area analysis is accomplished on the chimney in ANSYS. A simplified model of chimneys with various thicknesses like 10mm, 12mm, 14mm and 16mm were modeled environment. Keywords: Chimney, Flue Gases, Coupled Field Analysis

In this paper are illustrated the principal aspects connected with the numerical evaluation of thermal stress induced by LNG (liquefied natural gas) in a concrete tank. In order to investigate the thermal induced tensile stresses, the ANSYS finite element code has been employed for performing a sequential, non linear, transient thermal-structural analysis, taking into account the thermal dependant properties of the concrete such as thermal conductivity and specific heat. Temperature distribution data of thermal analysis is required in the coupled field analysis finally to obtain and analyze thermal stresses.

The dynamic characteristics of a rotating cantilever Timoshenko beam under dead load are investigated in this paper. Considering the predeformation caused by dead load and centrifugal force, governing equation of rotating cantilever Timoshenko beam is derived based on Hamilton’s principle, and the influence of the load on natural vibration is revealed. A suit of modal experimental apparatus for cantilever beam is designed and used to test the natural frequencies under the dead load, and the natural frequencies under rotation condition are calculated with a commercial finite element code. Both the experimental result and numerical result are utilized to compare with the present theoretical result, and the results obtained by present modeling method show a good agreement with those obtained from the experiment and finite element method. It is found that the natural frequencies of cantilever beam increase with both the dead load and the rotating speed.

A coupled field-circuit model of a 5-phase permanent magnet tubular linear motor A method for modeling of the dynamics characteristics for a 5-phase permanent magnet tubular linear motor (PMTLM) is presented. Its electromagnetic nonlinear field analysis with finite element method (FEM) has been coupled with the circuit model. The calculation model includes the equations for electrical circuits and mechanical quantities as well. They have been obtained using Lagrange's method. The calculated and measured waves of the mover position have been compared for several values of the excitation current. This comparison yields a good agreement. Presented calculation model is very useful in designing and optimization of the PMTLM and in the calculation of the parameters for the control algorithms intended for such a type of actuators.
