AbstractAround 30% of elementary school students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are considered minimally verbal, yet there is limited research addressing the needs of this group of students. Several recent studies have demonstrated successful improvement of the communication skills of elementary school students with limited verbal skills. Additionally, there are focused intervention practices that are evidence based and may be useful in targeting communication skills for children with ASD who are minimally verbal. This article will review existing information about interventions to target communication skills in elementary school children with ASD who are minimally verbal, identify potential target skills, and provide case examples of how to embed communication interventions in elementary school classroom settings from a pilot intervention study.

Recognition of Kazakh language as the state language of the Republic of Kazakhstan by the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, adoption of ‘State programme of functioning and development of languages for 2011–2020’, the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan ‘On languages of the Republic of Kazakhstan’, ‘The State programme on education and science development for 2016–2020’ allowed our native language to develop and prosper. Nowadays, special attention is paid to the problem of teaching the Kazakh language. In today's organised pedagogical environment, it is not fully examined the need for the development of communication skills of elementary school students and scientifically-based and practical communication to solve this problem via audio and graphic tools. Therefore, this article focuses on the need to teach elementary school students to work with audio and graphic materials and technology issues on the use of practical materials. Provided that the theoretical foundations for the development of communication skills of elementary school students through audio-visual aids hold true, the structural-substantial model will allow the development of each student’s individual abilities and creativity. Taking into account the foregoing, we have set up a positive outline of the effectiveness of the work with audio equipment through the organisation of practical work, practice-assemblage, research, diagnostics, practical work in elementary school teachers through specially organised thematic seminars

To enable the process of energy transition towards carbon neutrality, it is important to educate the community on the need for social, economic, environmental and institutional transformation, and to educate and inform citizens to participate proactively in this change. This study evaluated the effectiveness of participation by elementary school students in educational activities and citizen science actions in enhancing their scientific knowledge and skills related to Ocean Literacy in the context of climate change. The activities were directed to children (aged 9–11) and involved pre-service teachers, in-service teachers and researchers, in formal and non-formal contexts. A total of 329 elementary school students participated in interdisciplinary science activities, focusing on the cause & effect of climate change in the ocean. They learned to identify rocky shore marine species used to monitor climate change and acquired ICT skills by inserting species observations in a biodiversity mapping platform. Finally, students worked collaboratively to communicate to the community what they have learned through an exhibition at the Museum João de Deus. To assess the impact of the activities on acquisition of scientific knowledge and skills by the students, a mixed methodology was applied using pre and post-tests, analysis of the data inserted by students in the platform, and content analysis of the students’ work for the museum exhibition. The results of pre and post-tests revealed a significant increase in knowledge of the effects of climate change on the rocky shore species distribution, as well as of the importance of monitoring these species distribution. The data from the online biodiversity platform showed that 42% of the species identifications made by the students were correct. The ability of the students to communicate their learning to the wider community was evaluated by the scientific content, structure, presentation and creativity and of posters, models, videos and games produced. Most of students focused their communications and creations on the greenhouse effect, cause & effect of climate change in the ocean and biodiversity. This study reinforces the importance of addressing Ocean Literacy and climate change through formal and non-formal educational activities with an investigative nature.

Abstract: School from Home is one of the Indonesian government's efforts to minimize the spread of the Covid-19. All teaching and learning activities have been transferred to various online learning applications, including elementary school students. The parents of these elementary school students have to operate multiple online learning applications so that their children can participate in distance learning activities. Researchers have already used the original Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to determine the acceptance of online learning applications by parents of elementary school students as a means of distance learning. Researchers want to know the acceptance of online learning applications which are carried out in sudden conditions and without prior preparation but must be implemented. Researchers hope that the results of this study can capture the acceptance of parents of elementary students to School from Home during the Pandemic and can be used for evaluation and continuous improvement of the School from Home system. Referring to the literature with 22 questionnaire questions, the minimum number of respondents who must be obtained is 110 people, in this study 155 parents of elementary school students in Jabodetabek participated in filling out the questionnaire using an online questionnaire with a significance level of 5% and data processed using PLS-SEM 3.0 resulted in a strong relationship. There is no significant difference between Perceived Ease of Use and Attitude Toward Using. Then, a significant relationship was generated between Perceived Ease of Use on Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Usefulness on Attitude Toward Using, Perceived Usefulness on Behavioral Intention To Use, Attitude Toward Using on Behavioral Intention To Use. However, the results show a positive value Path Coefficient in Structural Model Result, so this research is consistent and according to TAM. Abstrak: School from Home menjadi salah satu upaya pemerintah Indonesia dalam mengurangi penyebaran virus Covid-19.
