Studies on art education and culture are a continuing concern within academicians and politicians. Although extensive research has been carried out on the fields, few studies exist, which concern about the use of art education for cultural hegemony. This study concerns about Acehnese culture and identity. During the time of colonisation, imperialist scholar; Snouck Hurgronje had used cultural resources as the instrument to instil false cultural identity for the interest to take control over Aceh. Stepping on the Dutch’s colonialising policies, the central government of Indonesia has, as argued, used art curriculum as a hegemonic media for similar interests. This article discusses the case of art education in Acehnese by analysing the content of the text books recommended by the central government. This work is to demonstrate the representation of Acehnese cultural identity in the “Art and Culture” curriculum of schools in Aceh. I employ Freire, Hall, Apple, and Giroux thoughts to formulate the framework of this article. The aim of this paper is to understand the mechanism of the art curriculum used to nationalise local people and to uncover the scheme of cultural hegemony in Acehnese schools, Indonesia. This work significantly contributes toward understanding the relation between cultural hegemony and education

As a branch of watercolor painting, watercolor light color has been widely used in different fields. In the field of design, designers use the convenience, quickness, transparency and brilliance of watercolor to draw a design drawing. In the field of art creation, watercolor is usually the best choice for painters to go out to sketch and create large-scale drawings. In the field of art education, watercolor tools are easy to carry, low-cost and easy to operate, which can facilitate students’ repeated practice and outside Sketching is helpful to cultivate students’ sense of color and observation ability. Therefore, as a branch of art curriculum, watercolor light color has a wide range of uses and great practicability, which is worth exploring and studying.

Abstract The ability to publish and provide access to cultural resources via free, open source digital platforms is empowering Vietnamese cultural professionals to promote their culture to local and international audiences. Digitization projects now include the use of 3D, VR, and AR digital technologies for the purpose of being published on digital platforms. This is creating an emergent digital culture in Vietnam, with an increasing amount of available resources online. Digitization projects are now used to preserve cultural heritage as well as to present and promote contemporary art and culture. This reflects a change in practices amongst cultural professionals in Hanoi, in terms of how digital technologies are used and the value placed on making cultural resources publicly accessible online. However, as new content, knowledge, and voices are able to participate in the online discourse on art and culture, the question remains as to whether this digital transition is creating greater equality and inclusion in the cultural sector or if it is exacerbating already existing forms of digital cultural colonialism. This paper presents findings from 50 interviews with cultural professionals working in the cultural sector in Hanoi about their digitization projects and digital work practices, the developments in digitization in Hanoi’s cultural sector over the past five years, how cultural professionals are utilizing the opportunities afforded by digital technologies for cultural preservation and promotion, as well as the challenges they face in carrying out digitization projects.

Abstract We present a theory of identity politics that builds on two ideas. First, when policy conflict renders a certain social divide—economic or cultural—salient, a voter identifies with her economic or cultural group. Second, the voter slants her beliefs toward the stereotype of the group she identifies with. We obtain three implications. First, voters’ beliefs are polarized along the distinctive features of salient groups. Second, if the salience of cultural policies increases, cultural conflict rises, redistributive conflict falls, and polarization becomes more correlated across issues. Third, economic shocks hurting conservative voters may trigger a switch to cultural identity, causing these voters to demand less redistribution. We discuss U.S. survey evidence in light of these implications.

Art education in colleges and universities is an important part of China’s higher education. It takes art as the content and educates people. Through educational activities, it fosters college students to form correct aesthetic concepts, improve their personal personality, and stimulate their imagination and creativity. The integration of art education into Hakka cultural inheritance has the problem of compatibility between the law of cultural inheritance and the law of education. Efforts should be made to activate static local cultural resources into dynamic educational and cultural capital. Hakka culture curriculum system should be integrated with traditional cultural characteristics and art education concepts. The contents should be closely related to art education, and the Hakka spirit of simplicity and diligence should be transmitted through the connotation of Hakka culture. The “cultural resources into curriculum resources”, “cultural elements into cultural creativity” double path teaching implementation, to achieve the value of Hakka cultural resources inheritance.

This paper tries to examine "cultural existence" which is one of Bung Karno's "Trisakti" concepts delivered in his speech on the 20th birthday of the Republic of Indonesia, August 17, 1965. This ideology was deliberately brought up by Bung Karno in response to the practice of neo-colonialism. imperialism (nekolim) in the form of Western cultural hegemony towards Indonesian culture which is felt to be very detrimental in the future development of its people. Existence in a culture is actually a cultural identity, is the identity of a person as a citizen of a nation that is obtained from birth through the process of interaction that is done at any time in his life and then forms a special pattern that radiates characteristics to the person concerned. The Indonesian nation is a multicultural nation, a nation of diverse ethnic, cultural and religious diversity. This diversity has contributed to the formation of this nation, but when symptoms of disintegration occur it is often accused of being a source of conflict. Being in culture is an inspiring ideology that is absolutely needed by a multicultural nation such as Indonesia in anticipating various dynamics in society including dynamics due to globalization.
