The structural integration of separation processes, using multifunctional equipment, has been studied on four stage-wise liquid-liquid separations extraction, absorption, distillation, adsorption and on some combinations of these processes. It was shown for stage - wise processes that the ultimate aim of equipment integration is 3-way integration (by components by steps and by stages) and that membrane multiphase contactors present concerning the equipment optimal solutions in many cases. First, by using partially integrated equipment and, later by developing fully integrated systems it was experimentally confirmed that structural 3-way integration produces much higher degrees of component separations and component enrichments in compact and safe equipment.

Weinert & Miller (1996) suggest that English wh-clefts are a heterogeneous class in that they can have varied degrees of structural integration. Many such constructions depart structurally from the canonical wh-cleft which consists of a wh-clause, the copula and a focus constituent, and in which all the three elements are brought together into a fully integrated utterance. In the types of wh-clefts displaying looser structure, their lack of syntactic integration has so far been related to such linguistic features as (a) omission of the copula, (b) non-canonical copular complementation, e.g. independent main clauses instead of standard infinitival phrases appearing in the focus constituent, (c) lack of a clearly identifiable copular complement, (d) the focusing effect of the wh-clause extending over several clauses (Weinert & Miller 1996; Koops & Ross-Hagebaum 2008; Hopper & Thompson 2008; Callies 2012). Although the disintegrating effect of these features has been observed, the extent of the phenomenon in modern English has not been properly established and other non-integration features have not been investigated. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to use corpus data to identify and examine such non-integration features and to investigate the extent – expressed quantitatively – to which these features are found in wh-clefts with the verb do in the wh-clause. The article also points out the formulaic status of those wh-clauses which become disconnected from their focus phrases.

The object of this research is the commercial block of the food industry. The subject of this research is the process of interconnection between sales and marketing of food companies. The goal consists in the analysis of the main schemes of interaction between sales and marketing. The author carefully examines the existing interaction schemes, describing their advantages and disadvantages. Particular attention is paid to the integration of marketing into the system of sales management, where marketing is not fully integrated into sales, rather marketing functionality is separate from sales and integrated into other divisions or is fully stand-alone. The method of partial integration of marketing into sales is based on the search for optimal solutions in pricing of the assortment, development of new products, as well as formation of incentive system for employee of the departments of sales and marketing. The results of this research solve an important task for the companies – to properly coordinate the interaction between sales and marketing, eliminate conflicts on various levels, as well as create a clear structure of operation for both departments to improve the bottom line. The scientific novelty of this research lies in systematization and generalization of the methods of interaction between sales and marketing.

Considering the many advantages of underactuation in anthropomorphic hands, such as lightness, ease of control and compactness, it is of interest to develop mechanisms that aim at achieving underactuation between the fingers. This paper presents several tendon-driven underactuated mechanisms that can drive four outputs from one input. These mechanisms could typically be used to drive four fingers of an underactuated hand from a single input. Among these mechanisms, some are built by combining one-input/two-output differential mechanisms, while others are fully integrated systems of pulleys. For each mechanism, a static analysis is presented. Then, a discussion based on the static analysis and experimentation on models highlights their strengths and weaknesses. Finally a new anthropomorphic hand used as an experimental platform to test these mechanisms is introduced.

The agricultural-chemical industry has been offering solutions in plant protection for several decades. The primary role of Industry in weed control has mainly been to provide chemicals with increasingly attractive profiles regarding safe handling, ecological acceptance, and economical attractiveness. These objectives have been reached by significant developments, e.g. in rates, persistence, and specificity for non-target organisms. It is therefore safe to assume that in the year 2015 and beyond chemicals will continue to maintain a major role in weed control. However, as cropping systems and criteria for desirable control levels change, industry will have to change from a re-active to a pro-active participant in the development of integrated systems. Chemical solutions will be complemented by biological and agronomical methods and will be further supported by biotechnological successes in the crop area. In addition, it is anticipated that sophisticated computer models now in development will help exploit the potential of products as well as of integrated systems. Thus, fully integrated companies active in chemical, biological, and molecular-biological research and having branches in the agro-chemical as well as in the seed business will be especially suited to be driving forces in the changing world of modern weed control. The practice will ask for services much more than for single products. Industry will not only have to offer those services but at the same time assist in the education of growers to enable efficient use of the increasingly intricate methods of future weed control.

Abstract The Hooks et al. review of microbiota-gut-brain (MGB) literature provides a constructive criticism of the general approaches encompassing MGB research. This commentary extends their review by: (a) highlighting capabilities of advanced systems-biology “-omics” techniques for microbiome research and (b) recommending that combining these high-resolution techniques with intervention-based experimental design may be the path forward for future MGB research.
