2+2 Cyclocondensation of 1,7-diaminoheptane with ?-diketones, viz 2,3-butanedione, 3,4-hexanedione or 4,4?-dimethylbenzil, in the presence of Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+ and Ba2+ ions as templates yields a series of complexes of the type [ML(X2)](where L = N4 macrocycle having a 22-membered ring and X=Cl or NCS). The resulting complexes were characterized by elemental analysis conductance measurements and IR and 1H-NMR spectral studies.

The sulfonamidic moiety is much encountered in structures of bioactive compounds. In the present paper the studies on the sulfonamidated aryloxyalkylcarboxylic acids are extended by their attaching on certain substrata able to confer some special biological properties to the final products, such as anti-tumor and antioxidant actions useful in treating inflammatory processes, ulcer, convulsions and diabetes, as well as a herbicidal action. The stepwise syntheses of the sulfonamidated aryloxyalkylcarboxylic acid derivatives and their characterization by elemental analysis data and IR, 1H-NMR and UV-Vis spectral measurements are described. The newly obtained compounds could show potential pharmaceutical and herbicide properties.

This study is concerned with the synthesis and characterization of 4-thiazolidinone derivatives (3a-3e). These compounds were prepared by reacting mercaptoacetic acid with the appropriate Schiff bases (imines) by heating at 50-60 °C in chloroform with moderate yields (51- 75 %). The structures of these 4-thiazolidinone derivatives were established on the basis of spectral studies using IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and13C-NMR DEPT .

New quinazolinone-substituted fluoran compounds were synthesized by reaction of keto acid, 2?-carboxy-2-hydroxy-4-N-pyrrolidinylbenzophenone with different quinazolinone derivatives in the presence of conc. sulphuric acid. All the synthesized fluoran compounds were characterized by spectroscopic methods (IR, 1H-NMR and UV-visible spectroscopy) and elemental analysis. The fluoran compounds are colorless or nearly colorless and develop color on contact with electron-accepting compounds.

Some new boron complexes have been synthesized by the reaction of triisopropohxyborane with the mixed azines, prepared by the condensation of salicylaldehyde and hydrazine with aldehydes/ketones in a 1:1:1 mole ratio to give a new series of (OPri)2B(NO) type of complexes. Their structures were confirmed on the basis of elemental analyses, ultraviolet, infrared, 1H-NMR and 11B-NMR spectral studies. The ligands and their boron complexes were also screened for their antifungal activity. Several of these complexes were found to be quite active in this respect. .

Poly(coumarin-urethane)s (PCUs) were prepared by the condensation reaction of 3,3'-dihydroxy-6,6'-methylcnebiscoumarin (DHMBC) with various diisocyanates. All the poly(coumarin-urethane)s were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectral studies, number average molecular weight determination (by vapour pressure osmometry), viscosity studies and thermogravimetry.

Reaction of 2-Amino-6-methyl benzothiazole with 1-cyano-acetyl-3,5-dimethylpyrazole afforded cyanoacetamide derivative (2). Compound 2 was used as the precursor for the synthesis of novel aminopyrazole derivative (5) by reaction with phenyl isothiocyanate and methyl iodide followed by addition of hydrazine hydrate. Treatment of aminopyrazole (5) with different reagents gave pyrazolopyrimidine derivatives (7-12). The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by elemental analysis and the use of spectral data (IR, 1H NMR, and MS).

Five compounds of 4-(3-Chlorophenylamino)-6-methoxy quinazoline compounds, including 7-(3-(o-tolyloxy)propoxy)-N-(3-chlorophenyl)-6-methoxyquinazolin-4-amine,7-(3-(m-tolyloxy) propoxy)-N-(3-chlorophenyl)-6-methoxyquinazolin-4-amine,7-(3-(p-tolyloxy)propoxy)-N-(3-chlorophenyl)-6-methoxyquinazolin-4-amine,7-(3-(2,6-dimethylphenoxy)propoxy)-N-(3-chlorophenyl)-6-methoxyquinazolin-4-amine,7-(3-phenoxypropoxy)-N-(3-chlorophenyl)-6-methoxyquinazolin-4-amine,were synthesized from N′-(5-(3-chloropropoxy)-2-cyano- 4-methoxyphenyl)- N, N-dimethylformamidine by cyclization,etheration, in the yield of 68.3%、53.8%、61.4%、75.6% and 87.4% respectively. Their structures were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, MS and elemental analysis.
