One of the main goals for sustainable development of a country is providing sustainable energy resources, which means satisfying the current needs for energy without compromising the future generations. Moreover, sustainable energy resources primarily involve greater inclusion of renewable energy sources. The biomass is the most widely used renewable energy source, mainly because of its relatively low price and its availability. However, in order for the biomass to stay a renewable energy source, it must be used rationally and with a plan, which primarily requires a detailed analysis of the current situation and resources. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to calculate the optimal utilization of biomass in energy purposes, taking into account the sustainable development of a country. As an example, in this paper Macedonia is considered. A detailed analysis of the data sources related to biomass is made and several different indicators that describe the current situation in Macedonia are presented. Furthermore, several scenarios are defined in this paper in order to calculate the optimal share of biomass in the overall energy mix in Macedonia for the next 20 years, using the MARKAL model.

The pollution caused by the use of fossil fuels for the production of mechanical or electrical energy is one of the most important environmental issues nowa?days. In this respect, biofuels represent a viable source of energy. Bioethanol as a renewable energy source is derived from organic material of plant origin, so-called biomass, thus reducing environmental pollution. The aim of this study was to analyze the potential of bioethanol in meeting future energy demands in the Republic of Serbia.

<p>Since conventional energy resources are major source of CO2 emission, over reliance on fossil fuels has raised questions on environmental sustainability. On way to address these multi-faceted issues of conventional energy sources, the sustainability of energy and environment is through the green economy approach. As such, this paper aims to discuss the concept of green economy in relation with renewable energy. The interdependence of green economy and environmental quality as well as the compatibility of green economy approach with the notion of sustainable development are demonstrated in the paper. Green economy approach fulfils the methodological gaps that exist in the growth models. It is believed that the best economic tool to attain sustainable development goals is by integrating social, economic and environmental elements. Furthermore, energy is believed to be a significant player in determining the greenness of the economy and sustainability as it has economic and environmental value. In addition, this study illustrates the significance of biomass energy resource and CO2 emissions from fossil fuel combustion. The illustration framework justifies that biomass is the determinant renewable energy source to be a proxy for renewable energy resources. Similarly, it justifies that CO2 emission of energy sector is considerably significant to represent the CO2 emissions of the atmosphere.</p>

In recent days the need for energy resources is dramatically increasing world-wide. Overall 80% of the energy resource is supplied in the form of fuel based energy source and nuclear based energy source. Where fuel based energy resources are very essential in day-to-day life. Fossil fuel is also one among the energy resource and due to the high demand we face shortage in these resources. Providing electricity in rural areas is still a difficult process because of the shortage of energy resources. This issue can be rectified by choosing an alternate to electricity. To achieve this we have integrated many renewable energy sources to form a hybrid-renewable energy source system and this is capable of providing power supply to these areas. We have adopted artificial neural networks (ANN) technique based on machine learning to accomplish this process. For short-term prediction other techniques such as MLP, CNN, RNN and LSTM are used. These values are used as reference value in final execution.

With the rapid development of automobile industry, people have become more and more aware of the shortage of the traditional automobile energy and the irreversible pollution to the environment. Sustainable development will be the first place in the automobile industry, but there is no clear evidence to identify the most effective specific solution. This chapter is divided into two parts, the first part aims to analyze the evaluation of automotive sustainable development by synthesis. A new hybrid multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) model that combines DEMATEL technique and DANP method is proposed. By analysis and comparison, the result shows that renewable energy source is the main influencing criteria that affects the automobile sustainable development. Based on this, the second part of this chapter provides an effective solution. An advanced energy storage based on the super capacitor of self-generating wireless charging is designed to be used in automotive applications. It has advantages of short charging time, high power conversion efficiency and low power consumption.

On the global level, governments are leading the national policy for development of modern technology and alternative energy resources. The tendencies of sustainable development are reflected in the realization of using renewable energy resources that contribute to a more diversified and more efficient use of clean energy. The aim of this chapter is to represent adequate responses to the efficient management at the state level that created all necessary conditions for sustainable development and energy efficiency using renewable energy resources in countries of European Union. Legal regulations, energy policy, short, medium and long-term strategy with a stimulating policy, can contribute for achieving adequate results in terms of sustainable development. The aims of this policy would be reflected in the development of eco-industrial parks and clean energy that contribute development of new companies, employment, on the state budget and local government levels.

In the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, by adopting the EU Renewable Energy Directive and the European Green Deal, the European Union aims at an extremely ambitious goal to become climate neutral by 2050. This goal involves a massive investment plan to support this initiative, but also to reduce disparities between Member States, in order to transform the Union into a modern, resource-efficient, and competitive economy. The main objective of this paper is to investigate the sustainable development and renewable energy sources relationship in EU countries from a new perspective. Based on Eurostat available data and with the help of hierarchical clustering analysis, the Member States were divided in 2019 into five clusters, highlighting the key characteristics of the selected variables. The results of this research revealed high-performing groups of countries, as well as countries that need increased attention and additional support to become more efficient in achieving their sustainable development goals and renewable energy source targets.

To ensure reliable energy supply, it is necessary to solve a number of basic tasks: flexibility of energy systems, uninterrupted supply of energy, its availability to end consumers, resource efficiency and environmental safety. Sustainable development of the energy system involves changes along the entire energy conversion - chain from fuel and renewable generation and transmission of energy to optimizing its consumption. Many countries prioritize the development of renewable energy as the basis for low-carbon economic growth. Renewable energy sources contribute to the development of popular technologies not only in the field of sun and wind, but also in energy storage, hydrogen cycle, electric transport and e-mobility, energy efficiency of buildings, in the field of “smart” technologies, which ultimately affects improving the quality of life of people.
