Students' problems in writing explanatory texts start from understanding the structures of explanatory texts, determining topics, making themes so that they become an essay outline, to developing an essay outline that is directed at making texts. In addition, students' interest in writing is still low. The purpose of this study was to analyze the problem-based learning model on the quality of explanation text learning in English subjects for high school students. This research is qualitative. This study uses a problem-based learning model based on lesson study. There are three stages carried out in lesson study activities, namely: planning (plan), implementation (do), and reflection (see). The subjects selected were 11th-grade students in high school. The results showed that giving the text model to students, dissecting the text, and summarizing the text could be followed by students smoothly, however, 15 minutes to respond to the content of the video presented was felt to be lacking. In general, student participation was good during the learning activities, and the skills that were trained were also successfully seen from the worksheet results. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the problem-based learning model based on lesson study is considered effective in teaching explanation text in high school students.

Problem-based learning model is a learning model emphasizes on solving the problem as a mean to know the students’ thinking skills and bring learning process more meaningful. But there are some problems in the learning that many teachers still relied their learning practices conventionally in which make students often bored and uncomfortable within the classroom. The purpose of this research is revealing the development of learning practices using problem-based learning model of junior high school students in Indonesia in 2010-2019. This research used qualitative approach and the result shown that problem-based learning model has been used widely and has attracted many first high school students to improve their competencies. Therefore, teachers need to create such innovations based on problem-based learning.

The objectives of the study are to determine: (1) condition on learning creative writing at high school students in Makassar, (2) requirement of learning model in creative writing, (3) program planning and design model in ideal creative writing, (4) feasibility of model study based on creative writing in neurolinguistic programming, and (5) the effectiveness of the learning model based on creative writing in neurolinguisticprogramming. The method of this research uses research development of Learning Model. The research data are obtained by observation, interviews, questionnaires, expert assessment, and test results. The feasibility of the model is done through expert assessment, testing one-to-one, small group trial, a large group trial, and trial on its effectiveness. The results of data analysis show that (1) the objective condition has various problems in learning to write short stories, (2) analysis of objectives has varous needs, deficiencies, and desire of students and teachers in developing creative writing based on learning model in neurolinguistic programming, (3) learning model covers focus, syntax, social system, the principle of reaction, means of support, and the impact of learning, (4) eligibility models by experts produces valid result, a trial one-to-one has practical result, a small group trial, and large group trial obtain enforceability of the model in good criteria, and (5) model-based learning creative writing in neurolinguistic programming is proved to be effective in improving skill of high school students to write short stories in Makassar.

Problem based learning is learning model suitable for 21st Century’s educational purpose. Concepts of learning material can be built using concept mapping. The objective of this research is to analyse the effectiveness of problem based learning model aided with concept mapping on the analysis of Senior High School students' ability (differentiating, organizing, and attributing aspect) in learning material of Immune System. The subject of this research is eleven grade students of SMA Negeri 12 Semarang and SMA Kesatrian 1 Semarang, each of these senior high schools provided two experimental classes. The design of this research is pre-experimental, with one group pretest-posttest design. The method of gathering data was used in this research is test and observation. Instruments that were analyzed in this research are multiple choice, students discussion’s worksheet, product of learning outcomes, and learning implementation. The snalysis ability of students from SMA Negeri 12 Semarang showed average of 80% with classical content mastering for XI-MIPA 4 and XI-MIPA 5 are 84,2% and  76,4% respectively. Average of N-gain is 0,4706 which categorized in medium criteria. The analysis ability of students from SMA Kesatrian 1 Semarang showed average of 73% with classical content mastering for XI-MIPA 1 and XI-MIPA 2 are 76,4% and  81% respectively. Average of N-gain is 0,4426 which categorized in medium criteria. Based on the research result can be drawn a conclusion that implementation of problem based learning aided with concept mapping is effective for increasing students’ analysis ability in SMA Negeri 12 Semarang and SMA Kesatrian 1 Semarang.

The ability to think mathematically includes many mental activities which involve the workings of the brain. To describe students’ mathematical thinking ability, one of the efforts that can be done is to apply the mathematical problem-based learning model. It involves students to solve a problem through scientific method stages, so that students can learn the knowledge related to the problem and also have the ability to solve the problem. This study aims to describe students’ mathematical thinking ability through Mathematical Problem-Based Learning Model. This type of research is qualitative. The subjects of the study were senior high school students in the city of Parepare. The data collections were conducted by observing the learning process in class and giving the assignment/test to the students. The collected data were then analyzed qualitatively. Based on the results of research and discussion it is concluded that the students ability to think have sequences in the activities of mathematical thinking with the application of mathematical problems-based learning model. Therefore, the students’ mathematical thinking ability is described as follows: (1) identification stage of the problem, (2) the grouping stages, and (3) drawing conclusions.
